I have watched quite a few of your videos on this project and similarly Dean Park , It has really inspired me to start back into Model Rail. I started 9 years ago and had to move house, so the layout was dismantled. Finally have my own place and starting the whole process over, cleaning and servicing my 3 Loco's and designing and building. You have produced some great work, both on the layout and the videos you have created, extremely helpful and informative. Many many thanks for your time and hard work putting this together and sharing. I , like you am starting to document and video my start from scratch. Excellent work and keep it coming. Cheers Andy
Looking great Richard, I like the idea of the plasticard, particularly for larger areas. As you say tedious but certainly worth it. Cheers, Dan at Grafton Heath
Great idea for the concreting Richard, it works really well and the colour is spot on!. Looking forward to the landscaping very much. Thanks as always for the interesting content you produce. Colin
Always look forward to your updates, very informative and your attention to detail is great. Learnt many things from your videos which i can put to use when i start my layout. Been buying rolling stock and engines, next stage is to re paint some, and yet again your videos will help with that. Look forward to seeing more from you.
That looks like plaster card perfection Richard,,, accurate to 0.5 of a mm (at least) outstanding accuracy even on the curved sections,,,, which I suspect were extremely exacting and time consuming. Brilliant ,,,, many thanks good watch ,,,
Hi Richard. I class myself as 'new' to the hobby, my first layout, still in progress, was started nearly 2 years ago and I have been subscribed for much of this time. All your 'how to' videos have been inspirational. I have just started to thank everyone who has helped me to this stage. So, many thanks - keep up the good work..........David
Looking excellent as always - really enjoying this series. I'll be particularly interested to see what you decide to do with the sheds, as I'm considering a similar thing for part of my layout!
I like what you have done with the plasticard, having watched you build your TMD with filler I thought how the hell am I going to do that without making a complete mess... And here is my solution... Also the walkways look great... Dave
Interested to see you using the plasticard method over the polyfiller, don't blame with the amount of walk ways your installing in that section, looking forward to seeing you scratch build the sheds Andy
What are your thoughts on sound equipped locos? Yours would sound great with an ESU Loksound decoder and zimo speaker. That's what I use in all my locomotives
+Christian Javier I like the technology of sound locos and appreciate the engineering that goes into them, but for me they just don't replicate the real thunder and bass you get from the real deal.
Have you had any loss in power to your kadee magnets once ballasted over as I'm about to do that?? That's gonna be a very large shed building can't wait to see it
Great work as always. Thanks for showing! A small point: Am I right in observing that at 3:36 minutes, the houses in the background are on a slope? Should the houses themselves be vertical, rather than leaning, each one level but stepped progressively lower than the other? I could be wrong....
Looks really good mate. What did you use for the walkway in the servicing area? Really love that shot of the 60 in the intro video btw. When you have a bit of time it would be good to see a compilation of all your intro videos
Richard - excellent as always but one question. The lighter grey plasticard goes right up to the rail whereas the darker grey stops at the edge of the sleepers. Is there a reason for this? It is probably obvios but not to me as a beginner!
@EverardJunction I've been following all of your videos as you post them. Everything makes complete sense to me except I had a question. What is the purpose of the thin piece of cork you use for trackbed? It seems so thin that one might even do without it.
+Landon Stewart Its 1mm thick and is only there to raise the track slightly to make the ballast look a little more realistic. I also use it for corner banking. You can happily do without it, but thats what I use it for. Thanks
may I suggest something, how about putting aa pitwell under one of your tracks at the maintenance area of your yard, cos the mechanics would need to get under the train for repairs
Hi. I'm a complete novice. I have a railway built but need to add scenery and finish off some sidings. Couple of questions on the plastic card. What is the product? Would you use this in a diesel depot i.e a twin shed and three adjacent short sidings two of which will have the Bachmann servicing unit? All reached from a turntable.
If it helps and if you can find one I made my old depot from an old to let board I found in my shed looked quite good when i finished it and only cost me a fiver for the Metcalfe brick sheets as well.....pete
Nice update. With the concrete hard standing....have you left the rails higher than the top of the concrete areas?, as you don't want to damage your paint work when track cleaning!I have just uploaded my latest update, check it out.CheersDave
Richard absolutely amazing work cant wait to see how it will look when complete. Lovely class 47, please check out my channel if you get a moment many thanks!

+BlueMountainsModelRailProject Thanks Andy. Glad you find the videos helpful.
Came across your channel a couple of days ago. Seen all of Part 1 through this part. Haven't needed Netflix! Thanks for the amazing content.

Hello Richard; another well done and much appreciated video. Your contributions have proven most helpful indeed. Thanks for putting them up for us!
I enjoy all of your very informative videos Kevin. I too look forward to seeing your ideas and methods for the scenery. Regards, Solomon
Excellent video as ever. can't wait to see if finished
Great update, the plastic card looks great. It would have been a nightmare using plaster to cover all that! Thanks for sharing!
Hi Richard another fantastic and informative video never fails to inspire me cheers.
You are turning me into a disciple. Just starting to plan my own layout, after 40 odd years of thinking about it
Great idea for the concreting Richard, it works really well and the colour is spot on!. Looking forward to the landscaping very much. Thanks as always for the interesting content you produce.
Colin
Looking great rich looking forward to the next video I got some magnets like yours they work a treat thanks again
As always a excellent and informative video Richard.
Looking really good, your videos are an inspiration.
Looking superb Richard and some great ideas to look forward to seeing especially the scratchbuilding.
Look forward to seeing more progress.
Kev
+percomotion Thanks Kev

That's going to look fantastic when done.
Looks fantastic , great work

+Alan Plumb Thanks Alan. It took over a week to make it all. Boring, but certainly worth the extra time to get it spot on.
Great work as always, those hard standings and walkways are looking superb! All the best, Jack
Great work Richard, can't wait for the next video.. Keep up the good work..
Hi Richard like the walk ways on the coach sidings looks good cheers Kevin

Another great video, very informative as always. To me, your layout is very interesting and I like it very much 😊. Thank you
You're a very clever man! Thank you for sharing your ideas. Most helpful, indeed.
Great ideas Richard. I'm sure measuring, cutting & painting the plasticard is dull but the effect is great ... Steve
Highest order video, as usual Richard. Love watching them.
Interesting, informative, and enjoyable... as always
Great stuff Richard, as informative as ever.
Hi and thanks for these videos, I find them very useful and interesting.
another really good update.
Love watching your videos. I've found them very useful, so much so I've convinced my father to build a layout in his garage😄
Can't wait to see the rest
looking forward to yet again another how to do video.thanks for sharing. tony
Looking excellent as always - really enjoying this series. I'll be particularly interested to see what you decide to do with the sheds, as I'm considering a similar thing for part of my layout!
Hi Richard,
It's really starting to take shape now and I don't blame you for using plasticard for all that! I really like the NSE 08!
Cheers,
Michael

Looking good 😃😃
Super project! Great how-to, a great help to other modelers. Keep up the good work.
Fab videos, love your detailed and extremely informative narrative.
Awesome stuff as always. everything looks great!
JUST finished watching episode 1-9, excellent work mate. Was fun watching, subscribed to see more:) Keep it up!
Can't wait for part 10 and whn it's finished
Keep em' coming Richard...
Interested to see you using the plasticard method over the polyfiller, don't blame with the amount of walk ways your installing in that section, looking forward to seeing you scratch build the sheds Andy
+Andy Hudson Thanks Andy
saubere arbeit ! sieht gut aus.

+Christian Javier I like the technology of sound locos and appreciate the engineering that goes into them, but for me they just don't replicate the real thunder and bass you get from the real deal.
I always look forward to your videos. Just like to ask why you didn't put in any PIT ROADS in or have | missed something?
+Spooky 01 Not required for this area as it for coach storage and cleaning.
Thanks for your answer.
Have you had any loss in power to your kadee magnets once ballasted over as I'm about to do that?? That's gonna be a very large shed building can't wait to see it
+Steve Lindley No loss in power so far. The magnetic field should be unaffected by non magnetic stuff like glue and ballast.
Gday This is an excellent video keep up the good work Im doing a similar extension to my layout and its great to get other ideas.
Hi Richard another great video ref. the class 08 I think it was a limited edition from model zone
Great work as always. Thanks for showing! A small point: Am I right in observing that at 3:36 minutes, the houses in the background are on a slope? Should the houses themselves be vertical, rather than leaning, each one level but stepped progressively lower than the other? I could be wrong....
+rg michel Its the camera and the gradual decent of the wall in front of the scene. The board behind with the buildings is level.
+Tom Marshall Yes, I can see how the camera would distort things. Thanks for letting me know!
I love these vids.. You are teaching me many things
Looks really good mate. What did you use for the walkway in the servicing area?
Really love that shot of the 60 in the intro video btw. When you have a bit of time it would be good to see a compilation of all your intro videos
+sub39h Thanks. The walkway is some evergreen plastics v groove siding that I used in previous parts.
i like your layout
When you purchase a rake of Mk2fs what type of rake would you get? An intercity cross country or an intercity western region rake?
Richard - excellent as always but one question. The lighter grey plasticard goes right up to the rail whereas the darker grey stops at the edge of the sleepers. Is there a reason for this? It is probably obvios but not to me as a beginner!
RichardOnce again great video, have you scored the plasticard hard standing in the carriage cleaning roads or is that an optical illusion?
+Jim Goulding It's pre grooved plasticard to represent wood decking. Thanks
Just amazing to c your layout just starting on mine now I have retired
@EverardJunction I've been following all of your videos as you post them. Everything makes complete sense to me except I had a question. What is the purpose of the thin piece of cork you use for trackbed? It seems so thin that one might even do without it.

Have I got a vid on hardstandings.
One fin can u do a summery vid and have links to videos and the exact time of each proses so we can use as well
Hi, very informative. Just wondering what glue was used to stick the plasticard down with.
Thanks
+fjrboy I use rocket plastic glue to glue the plasticard together. To stick it to the baseboard I use superglue of rocket card glue.
Great video, btw the 08 was a limited edition by modelzone.
+MrFlix76 Thanks
Can't wait for the next video :-)
may I suggest something, how about putting aa pitwell under one of your tracks at the maintenance area of your yard, cos the mechanics would need to get under the train for repairs
What is a good size baseboard and scale of you don't have much money or space
What do you find is best to cut the plasticard?
+Matt Jackson I use a steel ruler and a very sharp knife. You have to be very careful, but it cuts and scores quite well.
were can I get from you soon
354 Likes So you must be doing something right, Great Work, Well Done!
OK, now for part 10 please....;) Shouldn't take as long as 9...
Hi. I'm a complete novice. I have a railway built but need to add scenery and finish off some sidings. Couple of questions on the plastic card. What is the product? I would kill for one of those shunters!
you could add a coach wash
What have you used for decouplers in the yard, are they neodymium magnets?
If it helps and if you can find one I made my old depot from an old to let board I found in my shed looked quite good when i finished it and only cost me a fiver for the Metcalfe brick sheets as well.....pete
Looks good
The shed at Redhill had a brick floor.
Absolutely run those trains every now and then to see the actual scenario. Then you can definitively focus on the intended outcome.
watching all videos. from nr 1
AMAZING
Nice update. With the concrete hard standing....have you left the rails higher than the top of the concrete areas?, as you don't want to damage your paint work when track cleaning!I have just uploaded my latest update, check it out.CheersDave
+DaveClass47 Thanks Dave. The card sits on top of the sleepers so is just slightly lower then the railhead.
+DaveClass47 What scale is it?
+EverardJunction hi great video. Where did you get the Plasticard for the concrete walkways from because I'm hoping to do a similar thing.
Just out of interest how many locos do you have. And Jesus that 08 is a real bargain !
What card did you use for the hard standing
Im sure you have been asked many times what grade ballast you use but could you let me know please and also what code track you use. . Thanks
kenneth robertson it's all in previous videos.
Whoop woop
what was it that you used for the concrete areas...?
I used polyfilla. Check out episode 13 of my howto series.
how much did it all cost you
4:35... "The BR Mk-I male coaches"
Next time, maybe you can run the Mk-II female coaches - just kidding.
cool
Richard absolutely amazing work cant wait to see how it will look when complete. Lovely class 47, please check out my channel if you get a moment many thanks!
I got the 080 for £5 with track cars and signals
