Update: The homebrews WORK! I wasn't pushing them in far enough. They are thick but with a little wiggle they'll pop in. I'll do a followup video sooner than later.
The tutorials nor the online manual won't tell you this but to pull up the analogue system menu in game you have to press I think the run button and down on the D pad at the same time. Basically, like you do with the retron5. Then, you'll see the options to change settings and quite the game without having to power down the system. It would've been nice if analogue would've told us this but I guess that, along with including a real startup guide and/or manual was just out of the question. For $300 I guess that's just expecting too much. The ver. 1.1 software which is the most current version at the writing of this comment doesn't support save states SD card or not. Save state support will be coming in an updated version according to analogue. I don't know why you'd ship something like this without save state support but I guess that's why I'm not working for analogue. I hope this information helps.
So Analogue pulls it off once again. I was about to make a comment how “100% recreation” they are with homebrews not working. They have great products although not always perfect with the updates. And too bad they stopped letting do 3rd party jailbreaks.
9:35 I found a trick for operate the everdrive (not pro version) on the analog duo. You must first start on a real hucard game, exit the game, insert the everdrive, go to library, select the previous game and launch it, this manipulation allows you to launch the everdrive ✌️✌️✌️
Analogue doesn’t make controllers, just systems. 👍 the controllers they do offer from 8bitdo are purchased separately.

I recommend getting that SD card and updating the system and trying some of these again. All of the compatibility issues should be fixed with most recent update. I also have strife sisters. That hucard works fine but it does require some additional force since it's slightly thicker.

Just got one myself, and it's played everything I've thrown at it so far. I did upgrade the firmware before I started using it, which may have helped.
Yes, your PC engine Duo controller will work with the analogue duo. The original PC engine Duo just has the controller port on the front whereas the analogue Duo has the controller port on the side. It's kind of dumb that they made it that way.
My eldest, at the age of 3 managed to get three discs into my PS3 back in the day, I have shared your pain 😂
So for 2 day air that is probably correct. Trick is just ups ground when in the same state. UPS tries to deliver everything in the same state in one day.

Man that would be a badass one to find someone who had made a turbo grafx16 version of the Maison ikkoku game I've heard of it but I had always heard that there was only fan translations but no physical copies. Is it just me or the graphics on altered beast for the TurboGrafx 16 better than on the Sega Genesis

I had the same controller response. Even started to tear the box myself. Luckily I have a bunch of 8bitdo controllers!! Quick note: The PCE 8Bitdo controller requires the pocket firmware flashed to it as the duo is based on pocket firmware. The standard fw wont work. Also Save States are rumored to be part of a firmware update for the system in Q1 24.
Home screen with jp controller is depress select or run and down. You have to hold the button down first. Don't rely on auto detect for region, some games require you select the region yourself. Using the headphone jack is much louder than via hdmi.

@@AussieFreakGamers Yeah, I do it all the time since I had it, but I'm not accustomed to the pad without looking at it so I didn't know which button it was. Glad I could help. There is a combination which resets the game as well. I think its down and both select/run but not sure. I think its all mentioned in the FAQ online, just google FAQ analogue duo.
This is the real review from real customer, they should have been let you test the system to ensure homebrew compatibility,John
I work for The UPS Store, every shipment starts at $11.98 for retail shipping for just UPS Ground. Then distance, weight, and size are factored on top of it. To ship from my UPS Store back to the same UPS Store it is $12 for even just a single sheet of paper. The more companies ship, the better their shipping prices on their account. So count yourself lucky that it was only $22 for 2nd Day Air. But for being in the same state, they likely could’ve done UPS Ground and gotten it to you faster or in the same amount of time for cheaper.

i also got the analogue duo. it does stink that their is no included controller but i do have the turbografx mini & had a couple os spare controllers for the mini & it works good. also glad to hear it will play translated imported games.
oh yeah! I have a TG16 mini! I forgot I had one of those haha
My only complaint was that it doesn't natively support actual North American TG16 controllers. By sheer stupid luck, I happened to have an adapter that came with a third-party controller I bought a couple years ago. Aggravated me, though, because Analogue explicitly states on their website that the Duo supports ALL hardware and accessories for the TurboGrafx. Nowhere on their site is it explained that the machine only has a PC Engine controller port.
I'll stick with my original turboduo. 😊

So far the only game ive had issues with was popful mail pc engine cd and i had a random crash playing shapeshifter tg16 but after reboot no issues.

The homebrews might work if you push them in with your thumps on both corners (the maker did a video). You can try the same thing with the repro. The hucards from turbo reproductions are a tad thicker and might not fit properly.
I'll try again and do an updated video if I get it working.
Shipping has gone up like crazy from Analogue. Americans got hit the least. Shipping to Canada for my pocket was $35 USD, which is normal from almost any company in the US. For the Analogue, it was $80 USD for shipping. A $50 increase. $22? I wish!

I think when Analouge provided controllers with their other consoles they were 8bitdo controllers. That's weird they didn't provide them this time. Maybe their license ran out. You're right about the pronunciation of 8bitdo because "do", like you say Nintendo, in Japanese means "the way of". The way of 8 bit. You know what time it is. Mama Riggs didn't raise no fool! Cool video buddy. I had a Turbo Grafx when I was a kid too. We even had Air Zonk. I'm still kicking my self about that one! See ya later Turbo buddy!

Like the CDI, 3DO, Master System, Pico, Neo Geo AES, Neo Geo CD, Jag, Jar CD, Nuno, and Apple Pippin; The TurboGrafx-16 was an system I knew about but never saw or palyed. I reamber The CDI and 3DO killed an electronics sotre less then 1 yaer after it opened the resaon was they cound sell it any of the SEGA and Nintendo kids becasue both rented games form Blockbuster Video; so since Blockbuster had no CDI and 3DO games they coundn't make an sell.
I find it odd that a retro clone gaming system will not play home brew games. You'd think they'd want to capture that market.

One additional small thing that I accidentally discovered about the system is you can have a hucard and CD game in the system at the same time and both games will appear in the menu to play. So if you want to play one type of game but want to play another type then come back to the previous game you can just leave it as is.

Both the NES and SNES ones came with controllers. Wireless 2.4G 8bitdo controllers, so pretty decent.
None of their consoles come bundled with controllers unfortunately(not including limited edition consoles that had matching controllers). Anyone who got one paid extra to add on the controller

Loving those inaccurate sound effects huh? Yup amazing? Low volume? Even better! CDs getting small scratches from the LG drive? Omg I want more!!! Some CD games cauing the system to shut off? Shut up and take my money.. oh right they already did... I absolutely LOVE the fact that games like Legendary Axe has a new sound effect when hitting enemies and with some explosions. It's so unique!..... ...... ..... . And THIS is the kinda crap I'm annoyed with. Analogue isn't gonna fix a DAMN thing if people can't even notice the issues. Smh. Yall just accept anything huh

The only one that I've gotten from them that did include one was the NT Mini Noir. It came with the wireless (not bluetooth) 8Bitdo controller.

Let me ask people for whom this product exists: why does it appeal to you. From my perspective, I understand if you want to play on the original physical hardware. I also understand if you want the convenience of roms.
I don't understand why someone would want an all in one retro machine. I would figure if they want to play with physical carts, why play on non OG equipment?
I'm VERY disappointed in the Analogue Duo, the sound is VERY inaccurate. Even more annoyed alot of people arnt noticing it. Keith Courage, Splatterhouse, & Legendary Axe has VERY inaccurate sound effects when hitting enemies. For $300 shipped this is a damn JOKE for something that can't even replicate a 8bit console from the 80s... and yet Analogue thinks they can make a damn n64?!?! I haven't finished the video yet BUT I'm sick of videos reviewing this console and NOT mentioning the sound issues I've had better emulation of a TurboGrafx-16 on a Raspberry Pi! I DID email Analogue about the inaccurate sound AND even mine randomly shutting off while using some CD games Such as the 3 in 1 that has Gate of thunder, and yes I'm on the latest firmware AND I'm using the cords supplied by Anal Logue... yup.. I'm pissed. Even if they ever do fix the sound issues with a firmware update idk how they'll fix the CD issues, and apparently some users had their CDs scratched by the LG slot loading drive

Dude this is so cool. I love learning more about your history/love with/of video games. My question to you is have you ever watched Future Boy Conan anime? It really is Hayao Miyazaki's masterpiece before his other masterpieces. It was a 26 episode TV show that really is the basis for Laputa. If you love (or even like) Miyazaki's films you owe it to yourself to watch this epic. Most people don't know about it.
