    Great chanel.
    I withdrew my membership many years ago.
    History has proved time and time again that they have not worked in the interests of farmers and farming. The vote that you voted for was not necessarily the vote given at the national level, for instance.
    More recently, pre Brexit at a well-known agricultural show, the NFU had rows of seats in a big marquee and had various speakers, blatantly telling its audience to vote remain.
    The point is that the NFU is not, and never has been a political party.
    I asked the question, "Why is the NFU promoting this using membership money?"
    I was promptly told that it wasn't membership money that had paid for it.
    I then asked who was sponsoring the NFU to promote remain? At that point, things got very uncomfortable all around. I did try to force the issue by saying, "Well, somebody here must know?" "I honestly think paying members are owed an explanation."
    Remain or Brexit is not the point I here am highlighting here.
    The trouble with the NFU is I consider it made up of nodding donkeys that will comply in the end to narrative. I refer to these individuals as, "Tea Sippers." As such, they will never allow young blood in their ranks as this would upset the status quo. Also, a knighthood seems to be in offing.
    I consider that they are a poor representation of our industry.

      There is too much politics entering the NFU sphere. As you say, it never was and never should be a political party and they need to get back to serving the people that it was designed to support - the farmers.

    Love this! Answered my previous question about strength of NFU representation on your last video on Red Tractor. Juicy stuff! Thanks for the content, I'm learning a lot 👍

    The NFU has not had farmers interest at heart since the 70,s. They are only interested in securing their own cushy job and cashing in on all the backhanders and freebies.The NFU needs to be totally overhauled and put the UK farmers interests FIRST.

    Should be compulsive viewing to all NFU Officials and its Members.
    Cannot understand how it has taken so long for such a backlash against what NFU are and have been doing re Red Tractor!
    The Farming Forum have been banging on about for years.
    From which a new “British farming Union”, BFU has been formed.
    Guess which one I resigned from and am now a member of?
    So far, the only way to get NFU to do its job properly for us is the kick them where it hurts:
    Their membership revenues.

      @Rickwardful 11 месяцев назад

      @@farmstockofficial It was set up a couple of years ago in response to anger against NFU’s involvement with Red Tractor.

      That's interesting, Rick. I have never heard of them. I withdrew my membership from the NFU years ago for the blatant and contemptuous way it treated its members and the very suspect voting system it had?

    Brilliant ! Time to do a video on the AHDB involvement.. They have contributed £250k per year directly to trd tractor which reduces markets for non red tractor members. The ahdb charter explicitly states that their role is to increase markets for UK farmers. Not reduce them... They also have a seat on the RT board and voted the GFC through.. They are as conflicted as NFU / NFUS

      @farmstockofficial  11 месяцев назад +1

      Every time I speak to someone about this, another revelation comes out the woodwork - and your comment is no exception. Didn't realise AHDB's involvement.....i'll put my thinking cap on for another video!

      Many more murky practices and hidden facts that havent been aired in decades due to the nature of the arrangement between the NFU, NFUS, UFU, NFUW, BRC, AIC, AHDB and Red Tractor ( which is a private company, so cant get information from their board meetings). SQC not any better. Did you know that there are arounf 9k cereal growers in scotland, only around 4k are SQC. So the 5k cereal growers cant sell spare loads tomerchants without a discount.. Much worse in england due to higher numbers. Lots more bullets if you want to talk..@@farmstockofficial

    Don't know why any farmer is an nfu member, it's basically self harm. I never joined because of farm assurance over 20 years ago and won't be doing so any time soon unless they get rid of it

      NFU is the only real organisation that lobbies on behalf of farmers . They are not perfect by any means and can only be a voice for the industry ,there is a lot more to NFU than farm assurance and it is unfortunate that non members and even those who don't get actively involved have very little idea of what goes on.

    • @farmstockofficial
      @farmstockofficial  11 месяцев назад +1

      Granted, I don't think any of these organisations are perfect but they're the best we have until someone decides to set up another in competition. Thinking caps on.

      Take a look at the bfu, British farmers Union, they have had a number of success over the last couple of years and are leading the charge on retailers, mills etc demanding farm level assurance from British farms but then importing non assured from abroad. In the case of the wheat mills they mix assured British with non assured imports into the same products but won't take non assured British of the same standard. I'm not sure how that can be legal

    I quit the NFU last year as I realised that they were not looking after small farmers interests. It’s a bit like NFU insurance - it is no longer a farmers insurance company, look at the pay of the top insurance team.
    The RedTractor is a joke, it’s not for farmers it is ruled by the Supermarkets. NFU has lost my trust and confidence.
