I just picked this up today, and really liked this playthrough as a means of learning some rules caveats. Very excited to give this a play.
I watched a few teach vids and found yours was one of the best. Well done!
At the moment Prof. X gave 2 heroic tokens to Wolverine, he didn't have the right to because Wolverine was KOed and a KOed hero can't be the target of negative or positive effects. And I think you forgot to use the actions of the last hero in the storyline a few times. And congratulations: Sabretooth is very straightforward, and that's why in the rulebook it is recommanded as an initiation villain, but he is not an easy villain to beat. Not at all: he is a tough one. You need a minimum of luck and strategy to finally give him the finishing blow.
Great playthrough, looking forward to the next ones!
Great play through video! As a person who primarily paints minis, this was a great intro on the game.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Such a simple game to learn but it has a surprising amount of depth to it. Nice showcase!
It can really catch you out - and I haven’t even gone to the harder modes yet!
great vid. I like learning vids. I have the core box, but have not played it yet, gonna order the X-men box soon.
Hope you enjoy it!
Ive been trying to learn to paint minis in preparation for my game arriving. Looking at yours makes me excited for starting that process!
Just keep it simple buddy - and if you want to do anything more advanced, I’d highly recommend Sorastro or Epic Duck Studios
I am enjoying the playthroughs. I’m getting mine here hopefully soon. Hopefully we get to see some of the painting too!
This is a solid tutorial. Bravo!
I've ignored these Marvel United games but it actually looks quite fun!
They are super fun and have huge replayability
Fun play-through! Great job on the painted minis! I really need to get mine painted up.
Great paint job! I feel like I’m watching the 90’s cartoon again haha
Thank you so much 😀
Very informative. Thanks a lot!
Great playthrough, looking out for this game
Looking forward to seeing your sentinels all painted up!
Coming soon!
Sabretooth's mini looks great. I can't wait to get a hold of him!
Nice game! Sabretooth is probably the easiest villain in the core set but i still think he can be pretty nasty if you're not careful
Yeah, he can be sneaky, especially with that hunted token!
minis are looking good!
Cheers Bobby!!
Hey Rich, Great vid! When you clear a threat card, does the "End of Turn" text at the location activate? Also, I think you missed a few of those "End of Turns" throughout the game. There was a Turn where Prof. X was on the M-Jet and could have moved anywhere, and the LAST turn with Prof. X on Asteroid M (if I'm reading the text correctly) deal 1 damage to a henchman at any location. I'm pretty interested in picking this one up! Thanks again for the Showcase.
Hey man, thanks a lot - yes it does, because you clear it before the end of your turn, so once it’s revealed you get them straight away (at I least that’s what the rules read for me). Probably did, but they are all optional (apart from hazardous locations) so I may have just chosen not to use it
@@RichMidGaming Thanks for clearing that up for me. Cheers
@@jagricojr30 you have to finish the turn in the location. Otherwise you can't trigger the effect.
I'd like to see either the Blue Team or the 4 Horsemen next!
So I know you skipped a couple of things for convenience, but with a teaching game, I think you should show everything so people will know what to expect when they play with others.
Specifically:
The threat tokens should have been placed on their boxes on the locations.
You should have removed completed mission cards and slid others right to fill any holes.
You should have placed Sabretooth's life tokens on the spot on his card.
I know this is nitpicky, but I think it matters in a teaching game.
Great vid, i thought you get to use the ability of the last hero played before a villian card, you seemed to reset the storyline after a villain card
I thought you reset once the villain had been, but looking back through the rules you are 100% correct sir! I’ve been doing myself out of actions!!
@@RichMidGaming look at it as you invented a new challenge mode !
I would love to see the Phoenix Five box.
well sir, it shall be the next one I do!
Nice playthrough. Couldn't ProfX have done some damage near the end?... it seems his attack (and the wildcard?) wasn't used. No big deal... I'm still trying to figure this out.
I'd have to disagree with Sabretooth being the easiest. I've played all the others in the box multiple times and beat all the others multiple times. But despite multiple attempts with Sabretooth, I have yet to beat him. The issue is he throws so much damage out at once all the time that you're lucky if you survive even two encounters with the guy.
I havent played all of the others yet, but it was the one the game suggested to start with, so I assumed it was the easiet...
I completely agree. Sabertooth is actually the hardest. You were fortunate in this particular playthrough to get his cards that move to the next location with a hero instead of the target hero. This allowed the non-target hero (Prof X) to tank the damage/kills without advancing Sabertooth’s goal.
Give him a go again and you’ll see it’s possible to lose by his second or third card draw depending on your team comp.
@Bretro he definitely isn't the easiest, but he is the most straightforward. I guess that is why he is recommended as the starter
I think if both heroes are KO'd at once, then the villain wins
I've double and triple checked the rules and this doesn't come up anywhere in the rulebook...there are only 3 loss conditions:
- Villain completes their villainous plot
- Villain must play a card, but the master plan deck is empty
- A hero starts their turn with no cards left (hand and deck)
@@RichMidGaming you're totally right. I was thinking of Hela's win condition from the MCU set. She wins is if all heroes are KO'd at once
