"A private island in Montana", did not see that one coming. But that estate is absolutely ridiculous and I love it!
😂me too!
My family has had property on the lake going back to the 1930s.
Quite frankly, an island sounds great to own but it sucks in practice. Boating in and out to get your necessities, etc. Also the closest “real” town he’s near is Kalispell which is probably a 20 min boat + 30 minute drive away from him.
The best locations on Flathead lake are Finley Point, Skidoo Bay as both have amazing Mountain Views and near a town as well as Bigfork which has the best town. Numerous celebrities have houses in that area (Phil Jackson NBA Coach and Howie Long NFL HOF and CBS Personality). A summer vacation home should be convenient, not a pain.
@@merera3100 brother i guarantee you he has people bringing necessities to him, also if you can afford a private island you can afford a helicopter to get to and from it quickly
I own a small ranch in Central Texas with 2 ponds. Stocking it with Catfish was a mistake. They pretty much take over everything. You are better off stocking with Hybrid Bluegill and Largemouth Bass.
Dude built two mansions for $200m and sold them each for $20m. Thats a mistake .....
@@Maybe1Someday 😬
He's in real estate, so it wouldn't surprise me that the building costs were inflated for shady purposes
The $200 m just seem to have a hefty surcharge fur location. And by the way: It's far beyond the purchasing power even if those professions who are pampered by public opinion and clients/patients throwing money on them - all the week.
It’s basically a massive mausoleum, not homey or inviting at all. Plus you’re essentially on the far east desert outskirts of Los Angeles, no idea why Bradbury is as expensive as it is.
I agree. There’s not even any landscaping outside. Just a vast green lawn right up to hard stone wall of the house. Very uninviting.
Great video. We had a pond at our last house and it was a challenge to maintain. You have to net leaves out in the Winter and in the summer, you have to maintain the water level (like a swimming pool) as well as either circulate the water or have bubblers to oxygenate the water. We had a ton of fish in ours so you had to feed them as well. Ponds are nice to look at but I wouldn't recommend one. Ours was much smaller than the one in the video.
I don't think whoever owns that place is doing anything. That is what staff are for.
One of my favorite Creators is "Desert Drifter" who pours over Google Earth and then hikes back into remote SW locations to find Ruins. Some of their construction and where he finds them is amazing.
I like his videos too!
The cross pool combines a deep end for diving, a shallow end for kids, and a lap pool. The wood work looks nice, but the rest is in questionable taste. A nice change from the typical ultra-modern SoCal luxury home though.
As a swimmer and a mom I find the pool amazing and functionally thought out. The shape kind of matches the interior Italian Renaissance style as it’s more of a knights cross shape.
i tried to get access to that island/mansion in Montana haha. agent said no
Dang !
The Bradbury house was on Million Dollar Listings LA.
I might have missed that episode
Yup Josh Altman sold it
They used to raise horses for Santanita race track there
Owner of In-N-Out burger lived in Bradbury.... She sold her house a few years back
She bought Dodger player Adrian Beltre's house when he left for the Texas Rangers. I know because I helped move the furniture.
That isn't the house.
Ive been to this house once about 10 years ago. Its stunning in person. The house has a large underground level with a shooting range. Also if I remember correctly Donald Abby got his start playing in the NFL and then used his money to get into real estate.
All the blue is there for a specific reason..
The Montana island house my dad bought! He bought it as an investment aka a tax write off and we sometimes use it for vacations but it mostly just sits. My dad has several places kinda like it and it’s funny that it came up on my RUclips haha! Also when you walk into the house the ceilings do seem very high but I can tell you they are not 40ft. Our LA house has 40ft ceiling and I’d say our Montana property isn’t that tall! Thought this might help a little.
Beautiful property and probably really fun in the summer for water sports!
@@Joey_Church6.7 wow that’s awesome! Thanks for the comment. Always shocks me how well the RUclips algorithm works
the cross shape allows for normal entry into the pool from the short side (and other short side to allow for symmetry) and olympic length swimming on the long side. that's my assumption.
Yep that seems right
Nah it's a signal to heaven...
Thanks for the interesting video and keep them coming! 😎
I think the problem with resale on these mega mansions is that no one who can afford it would want to live in someone elses dream home. They can afford to build their own the way they want it.
That was featured in Million Dollar Listing; Los Angeles.
The Altman brothers had it on Millionaire listings
Bradbury is not for vacation houses
You were asking about maintaining a pond,It’s like a pool as far as it has a recirculation pump with a filter system but that’s it….
Dude is smart. Montana residency gives tax breaks, then he comes down in the winter time. Snow season in Montana is harsh but summers are crazy nice.
There is a ton on information on Don Abbey on the Internet. He is currently worth $800 million.
As a former competitive swimmer that line down the middle of the longest portion of pool tells me it was used for lap swimming. Shorter paert is shallow and deep end.
Great to finally know the owner of the cross pool mansion !
It’s reported Austin Russel’s insane Pacific Palisades home was destroyed. That’s a shame, gorgeous property.
That round dome ceiling was more Pantheon than Sistine Chapel
House in California is nice, but there is no landscaping around the house.
Good point
It's that way for fire mitigation. The surrounding area is just like Altadena (which is just a ways across the 210 freeway). The fire insurance on this place would be well into 6 figures per year (assuming one can even get it, and if you can they would require it essentially be barren with a certain amount of feet around the structure.)
Neither of those properties are attractive. The architects have not got the balance correct and this gives the illusion of mismatched size. That's more likely the price drop is you may like the photos, but there's not many people who want to live in an oversized hotel that's like a massive doll's house in real life.
Wow. Imagine the house he actually lives in.
I can't imagine what the fire insurance on that place must be.
Don was also an ex NFL football player. He was also on HGTV MEGA MANSION show.. Look it up!
You’d need security detail for this compound, not just a gardener.
Great video
Learned of this little secret enclave for the ultra-wealthy angelino in a very unlikely place, one day whilest returning from a bike trip in the nearby mountains. It was so cool, we just had to take a look, so we got sneaky and blasted past the security in the gated community on bike, and were able to do a proper tour around the finest homes in Bradbury.. Youre not kidding, mansions and vinyards that put bel air and san marino to shame... If horses and grapes are your thing :) stunning properties and scenic views of SGV (I think? one of them socal valleys) really breathtaking.. must be nice :)
That was a fun video thank you
We always thought there was odd stuff going on we ran around the hills as those kids. Ponds are awesome. Well done pond takes care of itself for the most part like nature would if tou create a complete eco system. Just have to worry about herons and egrets eating your fish. I want to build a fresh water swimming pond you can get water clear with right setup and no chemicals. Haven’t had a customer down to do a sweet aquascape with their home build yet, would be awesome though.
Selling at such a loss on both properties smells of a property tax play especially if the guy is a real estate maven
explain
I remember when Josh Atman had the list on MDLLA. Also the pool is in the shape of a Celtic cross.
The problem with investing so much money in a mansion is that the next owner will have different tastes and needs, so parts of it will be gutted (at a cost of millions) and redesigned. No buyer with that kind of money will be satisfied with someone else's decor.
Huge houses date back centuries in Europe. Look at Highclere Castle outside London & used for the TV series Downton Abbey. So wealthy people for generations have felt a need to impress their friends, neighbors, peer group. Such properties are actually more a testament to the skills & talents of architects, engineers, contractors & field workers as much as they're anything else. Look at all the blood, sweat & tears it took to transport people & material to a lake in Montana, San Simeon (Hearst in early 1900s central Calif) or the backwaters of 17th century England
don cant design for shit, what u showcased all of them are ugly
im not impressed. i cant relate with people who need anything over 3k of living space
Sometimes you see that the owner lacks ideas to use this space in a great way and on the other hand it has a lack of necessary features.
Assume large communal/party spaces and the lavatory on the other end of property....
Bradbury Estates is a vacation home for those in Bel Air DUDE Bradbury Estates is in Los Angeles county. Have you ever been there? The wealthy don’t just live on the Westside maybe go to Pasadena one day or San Marino. Bradbury Estates is even wealthier, but all you’ll ever see are the gates to enter the community and it isn’t new either it’s been around a LONG time
Island is for sale for 70,000,000, Bradbury has a shooting range in-house.
Altman sold this 2022 and was featured on an episode of Million Dollar Listing LA
altman owned the bradbury one?
In the case of this pond the waterfall will keep the pond oxygenated and the water circulating
I remember seeing this house on million dollar listing LA (season 10 ep 3)
Area is named for Ray Bradbury Estates such as the book author. It’s well known by locals there. It is an equestrian area with most homes having stables and horses of course. There’s also a potbelly pig there if you take family walks, that the kids love to feed named Neil lol. This area isn’t far from Eaton fire and tucked right at the base of the San Gabriel mountains. Really nice family area and some pretty nice homes but it is humble and not Hollywood at all. Also re the pond, it’s probably stocked with giant koi fish I’d guess.
It's amazing what rich people do just to use the express lane of the pearly Gates! That looks like ol Don went a little bit overboard 😆
it's located near where the fires happened in Altadena. About 8 miles from it.
Please do Chateau Falconview! Insane house that I think is still under construction. Has its own IG with lots of vids/pics too.
Bradbury would prefer nobody knows it exists.
I don't know why a billionaire would want to live anywhere other than on AN ISLAND in Montana. Wow!
The cross shaped pool was probably a nod to the design of the house and his last name being Abbey. People at this level of wealth do not have a public profile for a reason. He is a "they/them", but not in the LGBT way. 😮
Legendary home! But Think that home is nuts check out 388 Long Canyon Rd in Bradbury!
I would never pay $45 million to $78 million for that house in Bradbury Canyon nor for the Montana house $25 million. If I was a billionaire, I would want a 7 bedroom 7 full bathroom and 3 powder rooms with 8 car garage. A simply house, not a museum to live in. A normal modern design with 10'6" ceilings throughout with a single floor plan.
Don't forget something to stay in great shape. A gym with a view....
Houses like that are ridiculous. They would feel very lonely even with other people there! The expense of maintaining them and the taxes..Its a colossal ego trip and wasteful.
The island needs a jet runway
Totally
Helipad will do.
Don lowered his price 60mil to get it sold. The buyer lost 1.8mil over 8 years and you think they took a bath? Don lost far more. LOL
There are many great pond channels on YT to learn about them
yea ponds are weirdly interesting I must say
I’ll check them out

The only thing you really need to do for pond maintenance is to have a good fountain for proper aeration. That way it stays free of algae and other gross stuff.
A 45 ft ceiling is just stupid. The amount of energy you would have to spend to heat that area and all but the first 6 feet is practically wasted space. Plus, heat rises so I imagine Montana especially in the winter that room is a miserable place to be.
It might have heated floors . My understanding is that is uncomfortably too hot sometimes .
“Illuminates” is the only word you really need to hear to understand the man who designed these properties. Sorry for sounding like (one of those) guys… However, it needs to be said.
The pond was a natural swimming pool
The shooting range is underground.
#JesusPoolsForTheWin 🙏
They're garage is larger than all of the houses and apartments I've ever lived in.
It was on one of the Real estate shows on A&E. And it is also a point of land that pilots when flying into LAX use for their approach.
What about the one next to this one in 388 Long Canyon Rd?? It is as big as this one
That house was on million dollar listing and Pilots use that pool to line up for LAX😂
What! that's wild lol
Not the Sistine Chapel. You were thinking of the Pantheon, in Rome. A dome in Rome.
The Montana Island house seems like a disgusting vanity project. Who is it even for and what woman would agree to live there with her children? And if no children, who's to fill up all that space? Bizarre behavior that makes me think we are due for a global shakeup.
why a cross shaped pool?? I think we can guess bruh, but it actually makes since for swimming in it too! People can't get 80 million for any house unless it's in the beverly hill location etc. Not sure why these people dont get that?
I have no idea what people do with all that space. None at all.
way back in 2012? omg 12 years ago! 😆
Ron Burkle is who bought Shelter Island.
I mean Lake Michigan has the worst island in the middle of it.
It seems these uber rich people just needed some more tax write offs....
The cross is because don is very god fearing and says he owes everything to god
This house has a beautiful interior and is probably the best quality money can buy, but for LA this house looks so flat and bland on the outside, not a single tree or piece of landscaping on the main property and it's just so boring and flat.
I pinpointed the owner!
I was reminded of Manny Khoshbin. 😊
Bradbury is out of this world. In n out burgers owner lives there also.
Beautiful ! But dated :( ….he messed up too Big !!!!!
u can tell it’s designed 20yrs ago !
I built house’s at 10K sqft it gets too big for single-family lol ! On one of mine I Asked the wife recently why she selling she said it not enjoyable to big/maintance every time someone like a repair-men shows up it 5X after they see the home 🤣
looks like he was gowning fish, may be it is a spring pond to fill up the pond, it is a natural pond.
Oh......... did you want me😢 to write that information.
"Brad-Berry." (Say "Brad berry" again! Go ahead-I dare you. Say ... "Brad berry" one more time. Say it!!)
Personally; I like to eat Cadberry chocolate whilst reading Ray Bradberry.
Those are the most creepy of creepy.
Reminded me of over the top allbeit slightly smaller robber baron homes. he definitely has a penchant for deep cherry stained wood & stone! The Montana Island home I was like, wait, what? For me it looked way out of place & too much like the Cali home inside. neo classical in the great outdoors, really? Beautiful parcels though! Neither home really clicked for me. Check out before/after video of Barbara Mandrell's abandoned massive log home estate in Tenn. what you learn is massive cavernous rooms remind you of living in a night in a museum. all that said, I have seen a few lake tahoe estates that blow me away as much as the views!
Not to be rude , but aren't all homes built " in the great outdoors " ? Like the Biltmore House built by the Vanderbilts here in Asheville , N.C. , America's largest private residence ? Many movies have been filmed here at the Biltmore House , and it reopened after the Hurricane H. for the Christmas season and public tours . Come see us , it is lovely here in the mountains and down to the coast ; and come to find out the actor Charlton Heston and his wife had a community theater up in Asheville also , and Tom Wolfe wrote his novel up there about the local townspeople and upset everybody !
It is asinine that anyone running a church can afford luxuries most of us can only dream of. Too much of that going around these days, in my opinion.
If they raised multiples of billions for charities, and took 10 million or so off the top, I can live with that. It's a redistribution of wealth that even the most asinine socialist should be proud of
Not church owned.
Please pay attention.
@@thedappercook Never said it was owned by a church or implied it.
@@joegreenbbka? Of course you implied it. You saw a cross, didn't watch the clip and made a comment. Otherwise you wouldn't have mentioned it.
That is where Micky Thompson and his wife was killed. I just watched that episode on Netflix
5:13. Wrapped in stone?
Theirs good taste and them theirs obscene, these properties are mega obscene.
Great way to wash your cash
1st comment, love your videos
Thank you!
Governor didn't burn that one down?
Ill tell ya why the cross shaped pool! house at one time belonged to a televangelist, one of those shady ones that went to jail. no foolin, thats what i was told. it then changed hands to an ex-baseball player I believe?
So fortunate that the estate survived the California fires in 2025... Things that make you go, hmmmmmmmmm.
someone with relatives in sicily ?
Look closely. The pool design actually has a purpose. On the left side of the cross, you can see a diving board; the water appears very deep in that section. The other side of the cross is very shallow, aka a sun shelf area. Then, the main section of the pool is the same depth across as a lap pool.
