- #Emancipation is a 2022 American historical action film directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Will Smith as an enslaved man in Louisiana in the 1860s who escapes his plantation. The film, written by William N. Collage, is loosely based on the real-life story of Gordon (named "Peter" in the film), a former slave, and the photographs of his bare back, heavily scourged from an overseer's whippings, that were published worldwide in 1863, giving the abolitionist movement proof of the cruelty of American slavery. The film also stars Ben Foster and Charmaine Bingwa.
One of Will Smith best movies 🎬
It’s the best
@@recapspoilers ye, as Chris Rock said, why he watched this movie: To see Will Smith whipped.
this movie slapped hard
This hits different now
1:19 I'm sure Chris Rock loved that scene.
WILL SMITH IS WAY BETTER ACTOR THA N CHRIS ROCK.
Two of Negans men are in this movie. The perfect roll for them
He wasn't captured in this scene. He was already on Captain Lyon's plantation as a slave and is being moved to a confederate camp to work on railroads for the war effort. This was a form of taxation where a businessman's 'property' could be taken for uses by the confederate government.
That’s why his back looked like that , fckn jig wouldn’t listen
your mother whom im sure is also your sister, cousin, & fiance should've swallowed you or spit you on the couch, but then im sure your inbred aunt would've only wiped it off the couch & inserted it in herself
He wasn’t taking no shit, he got tired, most of our ancestors wasn’t taking no shit, if us African Americans lived in that generation we would be just like Peter,Nate, Harriet , Frederick and many more period !

Life in the south is different . Northerners will never know the feeling. Sorry guys
OK so let me go ahead and say something people wanna think the north is at least during this time a great place, no there was still racism probably just not as prevalent people forget that even though that these people were free and then a free place the laws in which you said your nation and other laws and slave codes were still in-forced so please do not make the north out to be some bastion of freedom granted . they were treated like human beings but there was still racism
you're not that bright are you
@@seanm7539 lmaooooooo you gave that degenerate the attention she was looking for by even responding to her dumb ass comment
I'm gettin tired of will smith accepting the roles for these degrading slave movies

Why are they doing a black stereotype when the real man spoke modern Ebonics?
In 1865?
They took the black man from his family
