  • One month from Sunday, Marylanders will make their voices heard at the ballot box. The endorsements keep coming in ahead of the May 14 primary. This week, Prince George's County Executive Angela Alsobrooks earned the support from U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Connecticut, for her U.S. Senate campaign in Maryland, while her challenger, U.S. Rep. David Trone, D-District 6, has been endorsed by Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown, who served in Congress with Trone before becoming AG. For some time, Trone and Alsobrooks were the lone names making noise in Maryland's U.S. Senate race. Then, former Republican Gov. Larry Hogan entered the race. After flirting with a run for president, Hogan set his sights on the seat held by U.S. Sen. Ben Cardin, who is not running for re-election. Recent polling shows Hogan is a formidable opponent. The Goucher Poll showed Hogan wielding the highest favorability among potential U.S. Senate candidates, leading both Trone and Alsobrooks by double digits.
