"This Is A STORM In A Teacup!" | Keir Starmer Plans To Import Oil And Gas For Carbon Capture Sites

- The Government has pledged nearly £22 billion funding to develop projects to capture and store carbon emissions from energy, industry and hydrogen production.
It is hoped the funding for two “carbon capture clusters” in Merseyside and Teesside, promised over the next 25 years, will create and support thousands of jobs, draw in private investment and help the UK meet climate goals.
Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer claimed the move was “reigniting our industrial heartlands by investing in the industry of the future”, as he made the announcement with Chancellor Rachel Reeves and Energy Secretary Ed Miliband.
UK Onshore Oil and Gas ex-director Charles McAllister criticises the Government for planning to import oil and gas to their carbon capture sites.
"It's a storm in a teacup... if the Government goes ahead with its current policy - there'll be 100,000 job losses by 2030!"

WE CAN'T ALLOW OUR COUNTRY TO BE DESTROYED BY THIS IDIOT ANY LONGER.. HOW ARE WE ALLOWING THIS TO HAPPEN!
It's all explained in Deuteronomy Chapter 28.
Believe it or not Scotland was one step ahead of us and are all but closing down Grangemouth. It must be one of the biggest money makers for the Scottish government. I actually sat in Hollywood and listened a debate on closing down fuel production a few months ago. It took all of 15 minutes to decide. I was shocked. If their income was based on industrial production profits, they would have been voting to expand it.
Censorship is getting beyond a joke on this channel. Sorry I can't answer your question honestly.
It's a little rich saying Mike Graham is destroying our country. OK, "idiot" is about right..
@@DavidJohnson-yg8qm yeah happened to me a few times, its obvious some do not like the truth
'Will draw in private investment.' What a load of bollocks.
Agree!
It's called crowding in, but it depends on a strong public sector lead to reduce the risk for the private sector. I wouldn't expect a neanderthal to understand the concept.
They won't, given the fact that the more wealthy people are running away from Britain at the speed of Usain Bolt...!!!
yeah with lots of politicians having major shares in the companies, they just love to look after there interests dont they
Carbon capture . . .it's called a TREE ffs
trees dont charge for it mate thats there problem
Agreed, but for some reason miliband is continuing DRAX which destroys American forests for fuel. Unbelievable🤯
Labour don’t know what they’re doing.
That's putting it mildly! Free gear Keir, Loathsome Lammy, Reprehensible Reeves--all are grossly incompetent and seem hell bent on destroying this country.
My worry is that they do know..
@@JenniferBartlett-xi3tq very true....the foreign NGO's that run our puppet government know exactly what they are doing.
@@JenniferBartlett-xi3tqthey definitely do
They know, there is something behind it, who's paying them.
Lammy has run out of our money to give away and has now started giving away our overseas territories ,what next our kids.
They have already done that by endangering their lives!?!
Little Miss Melodrama.
Yes, conscription :/
Heavy industry in the UK..LOL...YOU are driving away industry away
Please bring Reform to Sheffield and break the stranglehold of Labour with LTN and traffic obstructions and transport chaos.
Yes please . This city is being invaded
Blackpool have not let us down, they have voted Reform in the council election,
@@ML-xh1go Great news
Net Zero will make us poor, cold and starving.
India's economy is as big as ours and it's growing at a tremendous rate of 8%pa and the secret to this success? Cheap energy(fossil fuels)=prosperity
That's the whole purpose of it.
That's exactly what they are hoping. We become easier to control.
There are so many terrible desitions being made for sooooooo long now in the UK its becoming soul destroying but i think thats what they want. They want your soul
The United Kingdom has proven reserves equivalent to 4.8 times its annual consumption. This means that, without imports, there would be about 5 years of oil left (at current consumption levels and excluding unproven reserves).
Either import or transition. Or do both. Never bleed ALL reserves dry!
@@KelculesIII i would like to read the report on that... got a link?
The UK economy has stagnated for the last 20 years making us all poorer.
No real investment since the financial crisis, if this hadn't happened, and if we had invested rather than doing austerity, it's estimated we would be 30+% better off.
The only way we can clear the national debt is to invest and grow engineering and exports. We should be self sufficient in gas and not importing fuel
😂😂😂 what a time to be alive! We all have the privilege of witnessing the total destruction of our country by ideological green maniacs!
A massive win for Reform in Marton constituency (Blackpool ) hopefully the first of many!
Starma needs too go
Carbon capture is not proven, expensive and bonkers
ABSOLUTELY MENTAL shutting Grangemouth down, just as bad as Maggie Thatcher closing the Ravenscraig steel works down in Scotland!
Yep, if memory serves me 40% plus of all gas used in the UK comes from Scotland.
Ravenscraig had 2 years worth of orders when it was shut down.
@Rosie-uk4jh if it stayed open the economy would probably be THRIVING. Now we are stuck with cheap nasty Asian steel. There's PLENTY of oil n gas just off the coast of Scotland a new oil and gas field was found just found off the Shetland islands back in 2013 and another just a few years back I'm sure. Net Zero no one is wanting it except these loon balls.
Be nice if one day we could wake up and Starmer and his buffoons hadn't done anything.
Liebour have had it from now on in many council and bi elections
Vote REFORM folks.
Good!!...Get the damn idiots out!!...Vote REFORM UK 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧....
So its ok to use it if its imported. Lol. What a con.
And they can bankrupt the country in the process...it's a Labour proven strategy....
So is this where the 22 billion really comes from Mr starmer? Is this man really this much of a fool, no this is just wealth distribution. We are not fools
labour voters are as they thought starmer wasnt anything like a tory
MilliAmp's net zero policy is reminiscent of the free-energy crackpots plaguing the internet years ago. Obviously he failed his physics course at school and decided to go into politics instead.
It's the only job he could shine, politicians know jack about real wealth creating work, they're a liability anywhere else.
So a hundred thousand jobs to go……..yes but what about the hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants that Two Tier is going to carry on importing…….all working/fighting age men . Tell me this is all just a bad dream .
as climate gets warmer, more plants grow and absorb more carbon, this is what is called a "negative feedback", which balances the system!, mankind doesn't have to interfere!
Labours new policy # freeze the pensioners 👍🏾
As human beings what do we breath into our bodies and what do we breath out. Then ask the same questions for all animals and then the trees etc. NET ZERO IS IMPOSSIBLE
yes but it gives them the power to charge us for it for a unlimited time cos people keep voting the shitehawks in the two horse race in power ,god knows why the sheep do it as you could get a bunch of drunks in the pub install them in westminster and they would do a better job
Where are the unions in this....all their members will be lose their jobs ?
Could anybody make a worse job than Labours cabinet?
Surely all carbon in rock strata was once in the atmosphere and used by living plants and animals . its all part of a cycle of the carbon atom
We are carbon based that's how stupid they are
@@paulm2339what does that tell you
What a load of 🐎💩
All one big con!
This moronic Labour government will be the nail in the coffin of this country.
It looks like £22 billion is the latest special number politicians like to keep repeating.
Reduce energy = reduce population
WE NEED THE BLOODY CO2!!!
Oh Lord please help us!!! These people are absolute idiots!!!!!!!!
Surley, it would be easy to pay money or gifts to make politicians do net zero on an island that produces only a small amount of world pollution ?.
Trees are one the biggest users of carbon but there's been millions and millions of them cut down to make way for wind turbines!...And thats wind turbines that use gallons of oil in their gearboxes and are also fitted with diesel generators...But somehow this is the way forward!....
You are spot on !
As usual, we will pay more and get less.
The most expensive electricity in the world is the vehicle of growth! lol!
This leaves us at the mercy of the world. He is totally mental!!
Please stop calling it carbon capture.
It’s not storing carbon, it’s storing carbon dioxide gas 😉
Great to hear a fully informed Northern Irish citizen!!
Put them in jail.😮
HOW CAN WE LET THIS GO ON⁉️ HE/THEY MUST BE STOPPED‼️
local manufacturing jobs ... wow
Ed Millband is a fool. He wrongly thinks that this country doesn't need to produce it's own oil and gas.
He would prefer to purchase such commodities from abroad and ship them in on diesel guzzling tankers instead of pipelines over a short distance! Net zero buffoon!
Let me get this right. Mining/drilling/extracting our OWN coal, oil and gas is BAD but importing it from half way round the world is ok? Time to call the men in the white coats...................
This will leave us open to energy supply being weaponised, we won't have any industry or engineering because it will be dependent on imported fuel, we won't have security because they can cut off the supply at will.
We require investment in industry and engineering to start paying back the national debt. So effectively this is sealing the fate of the UK
Starmer: WEFmincer! 'You will own nothing'
Its OK, the government will replace those 100,000 engineering jobs with 10 accountant positions in Aberdeen.
What your not being told Carbon Capture and conversion relies on using high volumes of Electricity… we’re closing Steel and Cement works, and shutting down industries rapidly as we have the highest cost of electric in the World. Such a process would be great if we had endless supplies of nuclear generate electric which is continuously on line!
What happens when there is a war and no shipping can get across to England we will all be like the pensioners no heating no petrol
There's a law in the UK that allows you to withhold your taxes from the government and put the money in a trust until your government stops supporting war crimes and genocide
e.g. look up "NO TAX FOR GENOCIDE"
That's great. Unfortunately the courts will agree with the government
Rubber gob doesn't have a clue, but I have no doubt he'll be enriching himself and his mates.
How much private investment did the last renewable license sale bring. None until they heavily subsidised it.
The largest and most obvious risk of CCS is leakage. When compressed carbon is stored in underground reservoirs, it runs a small risk of leaking either abruptly or gradually, creating potentially catastrophic effects on the environment and its inhabitants.
thats probably part of the plan
So we are sitting on black gold in the north sea which would make energy cheaper and we can export it and lower our 22 million deficit, while making money, but we will import it probably on big oil tankers which goes against the net zero, its probably more greener if we use our resources in the north sea, because we dont need to use the oil tankers to import it to us, or we going to use russian oil as thats the only one that can be greener as its a huge pipeline. Oh yeah we blown that up.
Never taught i would see the day the british public would stand back like cowards and watch 1 man single handily wreck the country
THEIR SCIENCE IS FLAWED, THE MORE TREES YOU PLANT THE MORE RAIN YOU GET AND THIS CREATES HIGHER ATMOSPHERE TEMPERATURES.
Star mer: W-EFmincer! 'You will own no-thing'
its hard to take anything this on the take party say now
So we now have a £44bn blackhole
let us surrender to Norway, no?
The entire scare about CO2 is not true. Its beneficial.
How are they going to make money from it to pay for the 4K wages!
All this net zero and green B---ks will be our ruin.

What industry????
@@JenniferBartlett-xi3tq Very true 👍
Keir's suit doesn't look like it was Savile Row-made, if it was it's not very flattering on him.
The parasitic energy used for compressing co2 and pushing it downhole is a non-trivial percentage.
Eventually when there's a lack of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere they'll start mining the carbon capture deposits to release it again
Pipelines can leak or rupture; compressed CO2 is highly hazardous upon release and can result in the asphyxiation of humans and animals. Underground storage poses additional risks, such as potential leakage, contamination of drinking water, and stimulation of seismic activity
wouldn't say was a hippy, merely someone who read sociology ..
22 billion black hole,solved
carbon capture waste of money co2 only slows down heat leaving the earth
presumably the nations providing the oil will give PM Starmer a nice knife???
The United Kingdom has proven reserves equivalent to 4.8 times its annual consumption. This means that, without imports, there would be about 5 years of oil left (at current consumption levels and excluding unproven reserves).

my grandfather found North Sea Oil btw?
Don’t believe that and how much will it cost ?
What happens when we go to war?, isn’t it a stupid move relying 100% on energy from a foreign power?
Enraging‼️
What happens when we go to war when we can’t produce electricity or steel? I would’ve thought that was a pretty stupid thing to do l relying on someone else.
is working in the mines actually enjoyable with respect???
Reforms in next time round
We often hear about carbon capture, we do not seem to be clearly told what the exact nature of carbon capture will be. If, for example, the intention is to keep CO2 in tanks, at some point the tanks will need replacing etc. There is also the safety factor, does anybody remember Bhopal where thousands of Indian workers and local people died after a toxic gas escape from a Union Carbide gas factory? What if there is an 'accident' and vast amounts of CO2 are reduced?
presumably the people who invented AI realised that the predominant economy doesn't work, or at least, is not optimal??? thanks
Hatchet man.
Carbon capture is like nuclear fusion it's 50 years in the future. It's never going to be practical or cost efficient. It requires a huge amount of energy to do the capturing and storing so will always add to the cost of electricity.
Madness
So what percentage of the worlds carbon output does the UK hope to capture?
with respect, what incredible things do we enjoy and did certain men ask first if we wanted them?
Can they put a carbon capture in china there they are building new coal plants every week!
The man is a barmpot. There are quite a lot of reserves in the North Sea and new reserves in the west of Shetland. If this net zero is sutch a positive way forward why import oil and gas from far a field using dirty fuel burning tankers.
The other big import is steel port talbot blast furnaces been shut down Redcar flattened will Scunthorpe be next.
It is all right to say we will build EAF,s but they won’t be on stream till latter part of this decade. Meanwhile the scrap that will feed the EAF’s will still be exported to the likes of India and China only to sell it back.
what do trees do plant more trees
