    As a clinician, I'd also like to add that if you have had a very severe sunburn in the past, it makes you much more likely to develop skin cancer in the future!

      I had multiple of those every summer growing up. There was no such thing as sunscreen in central Asia. Mind you, I am only 36. So this makes me so mad/scared of what might come

      @@Masechka143 Sorry, didn't mean to scare you. You're only 36-- still young enough for further prevention! Just apply sunscreen daily and get a skin check in case you're worried about a mole, scaling, etc. I wish there was more education about this a while back, since all the kids these days are wearing sunscreen and I'm totally jealous

    So a couple things that I have added to my skin protection is a SPF lip balm and I also bought a car sun visor extender to block more of the sun from my lower face and neck area.

    Thank you Susan! I did not know about these sun protection supplements prior to your sharing them. I’m a gummy gal so of course I added the gummies to my Amazon cart right away. A must have for me is my Panama Jack SPF 45 lip balm. It’s so emollient, not waxy and is a broad spectrum SPF 45. I’m partial to the tropical, mango or vanilla flavors. I order a 4 pack from Amazon and they come in a cute little canvas pouch.

    The only other things I use are the sun protection patches and sun protection face masks. And driving gloves. And I have a son protective umbrella. Okay I go a little overboard LOL :) and I found a sunscreen that is 8 Hour protection! Oh and most of my makeup including lip balm have sun protection as well as the sunscreen I reapply every 2 hours.

    Hi Susan, love the video. I completely agree with you. I love sunny bright days here in the Bay Area, CA but yes, it is very important to wear sunscreen. Speaking of which, due to some reason the skin on my cuticles starts to peel whenever I take the Heliocare Advanced Nicotinamide B3 Supplement: Niacinamide 500mg and Fernblock PLE Extract 240mg. Do you think is it because of excess vitamin B? Or should I stick with the non advanced one?

    People don’t understand sun protection or sunscreen, you need the right amount of sunscreen and you cant keep rubbing your sunscreen in because you are just rubbing it off and you need water resistant sunscreen if you are going to sweat or go in water and reapply very frequent, everyone raves about Asian sunscreen and that’s great but most are not water resistant and the most important thing is do not rely on sunscreen alone, you need sunscreen protective clothing and get in the shade, umbrella, roof, trees, and do not rely on sprays either you NEED to rub them in and the direction on sprays tell you to do that as well so if you are not you are not properly applying and just because its an Asian or European sunscreen don’t count on it lasting 4 or 5 hours before reapplying because you can and most likely will get a sun burn if you wait that long and you are spending a lot of time in the sun. Love the video glad sun protection is becoming an even bigger topic these days.

    10 days ago i went to play pickleball at around 6pm but it was still sunny in California, I had my sunscreen underneath my makeup, I also sprayed sunscreen on my face before heading out as reapplying. But for some reasons, I came back 2-3 days later with super irritating skin on my face. It burns everytime I put on my skin care, I didn't realize I got sunburned, so I put some aloe vera gel, doing some cold compression, but it lasts for over a week, still is as I'm typing this. My skin is drying up in little small patches but I don't wanna peel them, it feels rough and textured when I touch my face. Idk what else to do....

    I would find it difficult to wear the SPF clothing, I’d rather just reapply sunscreen, it gets really humid in NYC and I sweat a lot. But having said that I rarely stay out in the sun midday at all I stay mainly indoors and go out later on when the UV is low.

    Have you (or anyone) found any good Asian or European sunscreens for the body? Or at least a face sunscreen in a large bottle. I know clothing is the best protection but not always possible for me. US sunscreens just aren’t it and Asian sunscreens come in small bottles so it’s not very cost effective. I’m new to Euro sunscreen and don’t know where to start

      For the past 3 summers I've been using the european eucerin dry-touch gel cream spf 50+ on my face because it comes in a 200ml bottle and ends up being very cost effective, it's not perfect as it has quite a strong fragrance but it is the most cosmetically acceptible body sunscreen I have found as it doesn't make my face look and feel super greasy, more just a natural finish.

    Nice video, buuuut PA++++ IS NOT the highest UVA protection, can we stop with this misinformation? A lot of influencers keep repeating this.
    It just means PPD 16 or over. Which is the minimum if you are somewhat concerned about anti aging.
    Every EU or Australian Suncream by LAW has to have a minimum of PPD ~17 if it is an SPF50 and PPD20 for SPF50+.
    Sadly in USA the law doesn't force any minimum UVA protection for their Suncreams and there are a lot with PDD under 10.

    • @Mixedmakeup
      @Mixedmakeup  5 месяцев назад +4

      It’s the highest in the US, so it’s not misinformation here. In a place like Australia it makes sense to have even higher and also more stringent rules because of the proximity to the sun.

    • @cv7958
      @cv7958 5 месяцев назад +1

      PA system in Korea/Japan (and USA) is an entirely different scale from PPD that is used in Europe. So, yes, PA++++ is the highest PA rating. It’s absolutely not misinformation.
      With that being said, one sunscreen with PA++++ may have a higher uva protection level than another sunscreen with PA++++ as well (both PA++++; one with PPD 16 vs PPD 28)
