Quake Achievement Guide (The Painless Maze) (Continuous) (100% Kills/Secrets Too!)

- This is a commentated achievement guide for the game Quake by id Software on the Nightmare difficulty for the PC, played through the KEXQuake re-release/remaster which was developed by Nightdive Studios.
In this video, I demonstrate how to get the achievement "Painless Maze," which requires you to complete E4M6 - The Pain Maze on Nightmare without taking any damage. In this case, I'm doing it under the assumption you are doing a continuous playthrough of episode 4 and have the weapons and some ammo from the previous maps to help you along. In addition, I go for 100% kills and secrets, just because. Of course, I did this one without cheats as well.
For me the achievement would be finishing the level without dying.
I will admit, it wasn't that easy for me to get that Achievement, but I finally manage to pull it through. Great job making this guide for all of us. :)

I’m so glad I googled this level . Now I’ve just got to complete it. Without looking at this I’d be months lol . I played this when it first came out on the PC now I’m playing it on the switch . Magical
I really struggled with this level on normal and could barely beat it , and seen the achievement i was like theres no way so i googled this, and you make it look easy as ever LOL

Working my way through Quake remastered now a few maps at a time. Bought it on Steam even though I had the original CD's for the base game & both expansions but I've got them packed away. Thought it was strange that when I finished episode 1, both episode 2 & 3 were both unlocked - can't remember if this was normal behaviour with the original game. Lastly, it seems that not too many people are playing the new Steam release; for example, the achievement for completing episode 1: _Sink the Horror Electric_ shows only 8% of players have achieved it to date.

I remember when I was going for this achievement I attempted to do it on easy difficulty but then when I finished the level I didn’t get a notification so I checked the achievement criteria and realised that I needed to do it on nightmare :(

Can you load saves if you get hit or have to restart level?
i dont wanna play all game to get this level again, so i reach that achievement with only gun in start. Glad i can use quicksave)

Dang!!! I kinda cheaped out on this achievement by sneaking past the enemies in the silver key gate, using a backup save AND just leaving the leftover spawns to their own vices ie. bounce around like dum-dums. All that and an exploding spawn came inches away from doing any damage to me. Buuuuut I got it.
As for the Pacifist achievement.... yeah, I save scummed that lol. I don't know why but doing pacifist runs on shooters just never comes up in my head, maybe I like, idk... SHOOTING too much.

Nah, Bill, everyone's shooting at me for no reason so... nah.
I only ever go pacifist on an FPS if there is a stealth alternative.

Can you damage yourself with rocket jumping or will that void the trophy?
You can rocket jump with invuln pickups. As long as your health isn't affected.

I have no thunderbolt at start of this level on quake 64
I do wanna see somebody do a shotgun start run on Quake just for the meme, though.
Well... I did this achievement with shotgun only 😅 but I had to Quicksave every waves. That was... Well... Painful 😢
I meant I start with shotgun but I grab Zeus gun of course.
Obviousely it wouldn't be 100% but if we go for rings, pentagram and avoidance we might be able to pull off the painless achievement as well - would that be easier than 100% or harder?
