Came across this video again and reviewed it again to get my creative juices going for some inspiration. Love your tutorial videos. They are wonderful. And no you do not talk too much during your tutorials. I feel like I am sitting in a class with my coffee and you are teaching when I watch them. Keep it up, I love your work.
I rarely add sentiments to my cards until I’m ready to send them or I just leave the front as a showcase and write my sentiments on the inside. My stress release is creating the front of a card with nothing in mind other than creating something that is pleasing to my eyes.
I just started cardmaking by the end of May 2023. I'm a retired pre-school teacher and it never occurred to me to make cards even though I used it all the time with my kids. In Puerto Rico, we don't have a Joanne's, Michael's or a Hobby Lobby. As a result, whatever cardstock I can buy it's at Wal-Mart's craft section. Yup, very limited and the GSM is extremely flimsy. I flew to IN last March to see my grandkids and bought some crafting items. I bought 2 paper pads and didn't know what to do with them without stamping, using dies, ect. Thanks so much for triggering ideas to use my pads. ❤
Loved this video! I'm a paper hoarder as well. I have so much that when it comes time to make cards, I spend way too much time choosing just the right ones. I'm going to use this method to get cards completed in a shorter amount of time. Hopefully I'll make some inroads into my stash, then of course I'll buy more! HaHa! And also good tip on using the 65 pound paper to layer. I'm tired of buying extra postage! Thanks for sharing your amazing skills with us! I love your friendly delivery!
Good morning Desiree. I found this old video of yours and I just love the cards you made with the card stock that you have. I also love the patterns that they have too. Very nicely done. God bless d have a good day too. Sur(Clearwater, Florida)❤️🤟🏻👍🏻🌺🌿😍🍁🦋🌸🙏🏻🌴😎❌⭕️❌⭕️
Thanks for this - it's why I got into paper crafting was the patterns then I have been stressing on the embellishments lately but I needed this reminder that I can make something pretty without all the extras!
I am so enjoying this series. Would you consider doing an intermediate and then an advanced cardmaking series? I think many would enjoy and benefit from your expertise, encouragement and inspiration! I know I sure would. Please consider. Thank you for all you have put into this series.
You have so been enjoying the videos! I am so glad for this. Tell ya what - tell me what you feel should be in the intermediate and the advanced! Let's see what I come up with!
@@IncludeaThankYou Thank you for responding. This was the second to last video in the series and you covered off what your plans were in the last one. You mentioned inks, tools, more paper info, die-cutting and the list goes on. I this you got me covered in general perhaps not labelled intermediate and advanced cardmaking but that will fall under your plans so it seems. I am off to explore more of what you have shared. I am so glad to have found you. Regards.
I also use the front. Overs - for that one I would cut away the central strip, get 4 sets cutting a block of 4 squares as they are and putting the 2 blocks of 2 squares together, So 5 card front with most of the work all ready done
I love paper packs with cut a parts as well. They make great card fronts. Stickers are a bonus too. Working on Easter and spring cards and note cards now.
I love those Recollections rainbow card packs. Great for layers. Sometimes they have the 5 color way 8.5 x 11 packs in 100# card. I like those for card bases. Watch for sales.
Fabulous cards, I love the colour palette and currently love the slimline cards. I prefer not to have sentiments on the front of my cards too. Thanks so much.
Amazing work, Desiree, so inspirational! I have many strips of patterned paper that I hoard after making cards and now I have so many ideas as to what to do with them! Thank you for your video, and thank you for your essential work throughout these trying times. Stay safe and well!
Great paper pack. Love it! Your cards fronts turned out amazing. The paper would make a stunning journal. I hope that we get to see you making a journal soon. In USA you guys can get dies, paper packs, cardstock etc. for so cheap. Such a blessing. In South Africa I paid, just for 125 plain white A2 size cardstock, R225 ($16). Keep your videos coming. I am hooked on your channel. Thanks for being you. 💜🤗
This is gorgeous paper and I am so impressed with your layouts and use of the designs. I have to admit that I nearly cried, however, when you covered up that gorgeous lace trim at 25:00 that you had fussy-cut earlier. Nevertheless, you gave me lots of inspiration. Thanks!
Beautiful cards and fantastic information given for cutting. Thank you for sharing your creativity and knowledge you have definitely inspired me! I’ve liked the video and become a subscriber. I am looking forward to watching more of your videos. Thanks again!
Wonderful video; love all your Simplicity videos and this one had such gorgeous papers. I love pattern paper and use it on almost every card so I enjoy this series so much since it gives me more ideas with every video. Many thanks.
Beautiful cards Desiree. I really liked the papers you used and would like to see you make a journal out of them. I'm always astounded by the low price of paper in your country. 65 pound paper for mats is hard to find so I usually use my SU 100 pound cardstock (20 sheets for 9 dollar) for mats. And when you can find paper suitable for mats it is expensive and usually in yuk colours. Not your nice colour coordinated Micheals stacks.
I believe it is a size 10 envelope in Kraft. I found them on Amazon. They are a little bigger but I like that because if all the dimension I usually add to me cards.
Hi my name is Avelina and I am new to this but as you said I’ve became addicted to pattern paper. Any chance you can give me the measurements again? The video goes to fast at times and couldn’t catch them. Have lots of 12x12. Thank you and you made beautiful cards
Hey There!, There were may cuts on this video, what I can give is the card base is cut at 8 1/2 in x 7 in and then scored along the 7 in side to make it 8 1/2 in x 3 in slimline card base. All the other cuts are just general to create the designs. I always cut my pattern paper first and then if I want a matt for it I cut that 1/2 in or a 1/4 in larger to give that border. I hope that helps! Have fun with your cuts...
I make cards to keep in touch with my family and friends all across the country. I mail up to 12 cards a week. Consequently I have a lot of paper! I use one sheet wonders to help use it up.

In a word..or maybe two! Fantastic....Gorgeous🤗🤗🤗You're a paper genius!!! Take a bow 🤗🤗😍
Thank you! 😊
Thank you for saying one doesn't have to put a greeting on the outside. Sometimes things can just stand on their own beauty.
You never have to put a sentiment on the outside... It is your art design!

Great video, I learned a lot
Thanks. The 4x8.5 inch strips could be mats for 4 1/4 x 5 1/4 cards with 4 x 3 1/4 mat extra.

I am sure they would be available on line but a fortune to ship to you!
@@IncludeaThankYou Yes and if you add customs taxes buying those stacks will probably lead to bankrupcy. 😄
Wonderful I got a lot from this.
👏👏👏
I do buy recollections a lot ,but never have spent only $4.99 on a pack cost is way more in my Michael’s 😮
Thanks!
Thank you so much! Makes me happy you are enjoying the videos!
Love this series. You are an excellent teacher; I always learn something new. Thanks so much.

Thank you so much!
I thought I was the only one who gets so irritated by sentiments covering the beautiful card front!
LOL nope!
What do you use for envelopes for these non standard cards? 🤔
I believe it is a size 10 envelope in Kraft. I found them on Amazon. They are a little bigger but I like that because if all the dimension I usually add to me cards.

Don’t forget that you can slow down increase speed on RUclips. See the 3 dots at the top right corner. 👍
@@sheriek2777 thanks Didn't know that - good to know

That is wonderful to hear! I think we are loosing the art of snail mail!
What about the envelopes?
I very rarely show envelopes in any of my videos. Sorry…
I know right? I have sentiment anxiety.
