Everytime Meg tries to insist Gavin is actually really smart, the first thing that pops into my mind is this.

@@ZyroShadowPony I thought it was the opposite. Like, he knows what he needs to know to do his job, and he knows how to do it well, but when it comes to other things, even ubiquitous pop culture stuff like Star Wars, he doesn't know jack shit.
@@dplocksmith91 eh, he has good knowledge in subjects he's interested in related subjects, and a scattering of other areas and even outside that they've pointed out that many of his questions are legitimate, just badly phrased. That's fairly common, to be fair.
He DOES know obscure cultural traditions and other areas. He's used this to trick everyone in the trivia games before and has admitted that SOME of his behavior is played up for the show, but not all of it. And he's a bit more than just competent at his job, the entire team have admitted he's outright brilliant at it.
Reid Allen I think like a lot of people, if he’s interested in it, he will learn a lot about it and take in loads of information, but if he doesn’t care, he doesn’t know anything, and he also lacks a bit of common sense. He can be really intelligent when he wants to
The moments of silence between Gavin saying something and the rest of the crew responding is the best. How much it broke their brains is directly proportional to how long it takes to reply

I have always assumed that Gavin was thinking of the first JJ Star Trek movie. Still baffling that he thought it was Star Wars, but that would explain the Kansas stuff.
I figured he just thought farm boy = kansas
Despite rewatching these videos plenty of times, I somehow still managed to facepalm Gavin's "So wait, Star Wars doesn't take place in the Milky Way?"
I still manage to yell "THEY DID!" in perfect unison
Both of these are hands down two of Gavin's dumbest moments in his entire career at Achievement Hunter

That moment when you're not even a fan of Star Wars and you're still getting annoyed at how much Gavin is getting wrong about it.
I’m glad I finally watched this full thing because that General Grievous reference never made sense without the context just before the animated adventure started

Even though the first part was a funnier moment, I genuinely love the second part with Geoff just asking Gavin trivia about Star Wars. It reminds me of the RT Shorts where Michael would do trivia with Gus and Bernie about Pokémon

It actually does say they are humans in Star Wars. C3PO calls them human beings twice in the original trilogy.
Not to mention how many other times in the prequels, including Anakin claiming to be the only human to race a Pod

*They are Human's. Solo even jokingly calls Jabba a wonderful Human being (fun fact: originally it was not a joke, since the original Jabba was actually a Human character).

I probably spent 1000 hours playing this game with my friends back in the day. Such good memories.
I still love how it circles back to the intro sequence, from “Did you just zone out?” to “THEY DID!!!”
It is actually ancient humans, according to Legends, there was a ship capable of ftl travel from earth in our future, but a glitch happened and they ended up going backwards in time and traveling to another galaxy. The captain’s last name was Coruscant and they name their main planet after her

Scott Rauch there were comics that explained that the humans are descendants of modern humans who went through a wormhole sending them back in time and sending them to that galaxy

I'm starting to think when it comes to book smarts Gavin is pretty good in that category and is able to understand that type of knowledge really well, but when it comes to common knowledge, street smarts, or most video games he just turns into a absent minded fool and ends up making a lot of dumb mistakes.

That's not possible. I fit your description, yet even without ever seeing any of the Star Wars movies, I still know more about the plot than Gavin does.
Also, I understand what "Far, Far Away" and "Long Ago" mean in basic linguistics.

I have seen every movie, numerous times, and Gavin's knowledge is roughly what mine is if you asked me to explain the movies.
I would love to see Gavin's version of Star Wars. I can only imagine how inaccurate it would be.
It'd be better than some of the recent stuff by Disney (*cough* Acolyte *cough*), without question. If only because of how ridiculously silly it'd be.

This is going to make me sound dumb, but I kinda also thought what Gavin believed (The part that it's a different Galaxy BTW) at least on 5 Separate occasions, NGL it kinda is forgetful.
Tbh I was didn’t realize the long time ago part, but then again I didn’t watch the movies much and when I did first watch them was when I was little. Plus my memory kinda sucks at the moment. BUT I did know it wasn’t in the Milky Way XD I mean at the very least it wasn’t in the Solar System.

it’s time like this, especially the first one, where i hate defending gavin being smart. he is, but fuck i can’t say anything to that, me who doesn’t like star wars even knew that, and knew it was at the beginning of movies. goddamn

I mean that it isn't the same as the rest and I like that the videos are evolving, because if you keep doing the same stuff over and over again it just gets boring. So what I mean is, it's good to see the videos being different to the other source videos. Therefore not a proper source video as it shows more of the content then what the original video did, which is good.
