Working class Dutch citizens relax on the beach resort in the town of Hoek van Holland. Despite beach vacations becoming steadily more popular in the early 20th century, in the early 1920s, social attitudes to swimming were still pretty conservative. Note the bathing machines, popular from the 19th century. These small wheeled cabins provided privacy for changing into and out of swimwear. The other feature are beach tents, to change and shelter in.
Women's swimsuits consisted of simple romper suits or tanks tops and shorts. All the ladies wore swim caps to protect their hair from the salt water. The men wore trunks into the water but otherwise looked dapper in their coloured shirts, trousers with suspenders and straw boater hats
The AI Film Restoration Process:
I take early fragments of silent 16fps footage and restore them to life by a combination of manual frame by frame colorization as well as the use of deep exemplar-based video colorization techniques. The footage is upscaled and the frames interpolated to a higher frame rate ( in most cases 60 frames per second.) Finally I produce a soundtrack which helps build a new immersive experience for the viewer.
Together, these processes revive old fragments of footage, offering audiences a more
vivid and engaging glimpse of lives long since lived in the distant past.

@@BettyGaines-tc4ti Oh I understand what you mean, I'm colored as well. ( Native American ) I also enjoy these clips. I get a sense of calm and joy watching the people that were around in an era before us. I like movies and TV shows that are based off the 20's, 30's, 40's and 50's. ( 60's too )

This makes me think of my nan who would have gone to the beach in the 1920’s. My Grandad would go for a drink in the day, crash out and my nan would cover him with a net curtain to save him getting sunburnt lol. Not sure of the SPF on a net curtain tho.. 😂
to be fair, a suit is known as "informal wear". Its just that dressing up got even more informal😄

Undressing in public was just not thought off, yet. Really, half pants and shorts for men came into fashion in the thirties. Not many years from now. Or so another video informed me :)

This is all staged episodes. Take a look at this with slow motion! See background. All dressed similar hats… etc. In the beginning all people dressed not for summer… so strange details if try to analyze details
