Yes, the 642 was a Dominator. I believe the Claas Dominator was the best selling combine in all of Europe in the 70s. One of the world's largest as well. Ford contracted with Claas to supply them with combines in the mid 1960s when White who had bought out Oliver which Ford had contracted with to make combines for them starting in 1959 cancelled the contract and discontinued Oliver combine production. Anyway, in North America the Ford/Claas combines were not really popular, even though like in the Oliver made machines Ford used their own engines. Maybe it was because on the Claas machines all of the measurements were in metric, something farmers in North America in those days would not be familiar with. Also, getting new parts from overseas was probably expensive.
