WoW! I don't know how I missed this video it just popped up today. The thumbnail just jumped out at me. Great job. Wasn't sure about the paint initially but then the final version is so cool.
Great job Rob! Rat rods are suppose to be a mix of different cars, models, items, etc. There is no rhyme or reason to a rat rod. I think it looks awesome. Cheers mate! 👍🏻
Sweet Rat Rod build man, it’s very cool how you figure out what parts to use off different cars for one build always awesome to see whether it’s a custom build or restore
You've given me ideas and that's dangerous! Metal thumb tacks for hub caps, front wheels donated from a Models of Yesteryear. I've got a couple of those old delivery vans, Matchbox made. It's all good.
Fantastic, thanks for the re upload. I have bought several matchbox cars, but I cannot remember seeing a custom job for sale, I think people would pay a good price for yours.
Awesome job, as usual. The only thing I would do differently - if I had any of your amazing skills, that is - would be using thinner wheels in the front. But, as you said, she's fast that way!
Wow! Just wow! Amazing job! That sets the bar quite high to create something that similar (like suggested on my patreon page). Really nice job on this one. I really like it 😎
You nailed it! You are a certified bad ass Rob. So entertaining and perfect build. For a man that didn't know about rat rods , you got it perfect!!!! I vote you do more things of this sort. It's very enjoyable to watch. I don't know about the 45 👎 but they must be purest . to be honest the every day restoration from every one is getting quite boring. Love it brother. Can't wait till you fantasy another rat build. Stay well be safe. From Albuquerque nm USA. Have a great day. cheers mate ! 😉
Awesome ... looks a bit like the infamous 'D Rod' was driven though a Rainforest ... without stopping. I've got the slightly less organic looking Green & Cream Lesney one in a Box somewhere, had a passing thought for a ZZTop Custom but either way you've given it new meaning!
kool , thanx , was wonerin' bout the background music......Great build man ....The black top , would represent the canvas top , covering wood bows,,,,neat one Robert
A couple weeks ago you asked which photo to put the before or after or both. I have been busy so i saw yesterday you posted the rat rod before picture. Today you switched it. I had to see then how you did it. So im thinking now do a before and after i think to start. Because i would like to think im at least a bit normal and the curiosity got me. Turned out super cool though my friend. Im sorry you lost your day job. I would love to help. But i work two jobs to survive now and am saving money for dentures. Im at $1100 and need 2400 total so another few months walking around with no teeth. But i do hope others can help. Can you draw unemployment? Im not positive they have that in your country but probably.
I changed it up a bit just because it's a re-upload and a ratrod. All my subs have already watched the original and wondered if I put the end product on this I will earn more views
@@MatchboxGarage A Porsche 911 ,german police car ,and a red volkswagen beetle (Oldtimer). I would buy more ,but it was a second hand shop ,and he didn't have more for sale.
The only thing that I find annoying about your videos is they get interrupted by ads in the middle instead of just the beginning. Some "body filler" over the seams of the chopped roof I think is in order, but I appreciate your attempt at a rat rod. I am not so brave at this point to make such a leap of faith in my abilities, and you given us some techniques or ideas to try! Well done!!!
@@MatchboxGarage I can see your point. When you enter into this type of creation, you wind up entering into "modeling" or model building. In full scale rat rodding, if there is a chop there's a welding seam that's either ground flush or left raw. I probably sound (read?) more critical than I intended. I just noticed the seam of the cut standing out and wondered why it seemed out of place. Having looked at the "real" ones, that's why I felt compelled to point it out. It really doesn't matter much, as long as you're having fun with your toys!!! Thank you for inviting via on-line me to join you!
@@MatchboxGarage i guess they want Beautiful South or something. Hmm Rotterdam while you rebuild a car? For some reason while odd i picture a surfer car being redone to that song. I know it makes zero sense. Has nothing to do with it. In the video i think they have an old truck. Been a few years since i saw it. So maybe Rotterdam and a truck. Ill stop rambling now.
Just so I'm clear, I'm not into rat rods, so I don't like this model, BUT I did like seeing what you did and how you did it. I do think you could make hot rods that looked a lot better though, seems to me making them look ratty on purpose isn't right. Real rat rods are that way because the builder used what he had on hand, could scrounge, bet borrow or steal. Doing things to make em look ratty isn't kosher. I know it's all the rage, but fads have never been right.
I have a supplier to the company i work for who drives a 1969 Cadillac Hearst. He redid it all and painted a clear coat over the missing paint and rust. Personally i think like you not a huge fan of it. But its also not mine. It would have looked cool neon blue i think. What color were you thinking?
@@MatchboxGarage Are you in the US? I'll see what I can find and send it to you when I do, if I do. I might even see if there's a new one around, tho I don't like the new ones as much with the darn plastic base, though I guess if you're modifying it, plastic would be easier. I've always wanted to do a reverse chop and channel on a real one, but seeing what that would look like on a model might be neat. Reverse chop and channel would be making both the body and the roof taller, not shorter. I would think about doing it wedge style, so the front is hardly different than original but four or 5 inches taller in back. Same with the roof chop. Why? well as my nickname implies I'm not short, and these days I'm pretty wide and heavy too. I've also considered splitting it down the middle and widening the chassis and body. Some day I'll do all that with models at least. I'm still learning how to do it all on the small scale, while I could have probably managed it on full scale real cars since I used to do body work, that's not an option these days. I am neither physically or financially able to do that kind of stuff now.

Thanks mate. I had to re-upload. I couldn't watch it myself so couldn't expect you to watch it either
the black part on the roof represents the wood/canvas section that was built into the original car
Wow, this is by far the best build I've seen!!! Well done
As a fan of preserving the factory vision, I must admit that I really like this upgrading! +1fan!
Thanks for watching mate

It's a great custom. Like to have seen smaller thinner front wheels the rest is fantastic. Nice work.

Maybe one day I will consider selling them
Awesome Rat Rod!!! Two thumbs up!!!
Awesome job for a first attempt mate! Some people's tenth attempts wouldn't look this good!
Nice job. I like making Rat Rods too. Yes in the old days they couldn't make a full metal roof,so the middle was what it was.
Turned out awesome in the end...
Nice display of imagination and flexibility.
Nice work, Rob! I love what you did there. Thanks for fixing the audio on this video. I was afraid that I was going to miss this one.

Very awesome build
I like the chop. Rake on the roof came out nice!
Don't forget to come back and 're-leave' your likes and comments from before. Thanks Rob.

Love that Rat rod!!!
Fantastic Rob! You do a very amazing custom mate. You out did yourself here with this one cheers!!!! :D
Nice job on the Chopped top, not a fan of Rat Rods by any means. But willing to watch any kind of custom.

From a larger scale car I think it's in the video
