I bought an OWT about 6 weeks ago. It has helped me tremendously. I swing it before and during my practice sessions. How has it helped? 1.) It engages your shoulders on the backswing, so you develop a bigger turn 2.) It helps greatly with tempo, so you take the club back smoothly and the 'one piece takeaway', 3.) It helps with balance because the end is heavy and shaft is wippy. If you get off track, you will get off balance during the swing. You learn to stay in balance., 4.) It stretches your back, arm, abdomen and chest muscles, so you get looser, 5.) It helps with release and follow thru because that is what it wants to do. 6.) It helps with footwork and hip turn. Bottom line: I am hitting the driver more consistently and the ball speed is much hotter. There is no question about it. My routine is to warm up with the OWT, then hit the driver. Take a break and drink some water to give my body a chance to recover. Then swing the OWT for a few minutes to get the tempo and swing back. Then hit the driver again. And so on. I have tried many swing trainers, and this is the best by far.
I used one of these at the driving range the other day, and I really liked it. I actually loved the “wobbliness” of it because it really forced me to have more control going into my back swing, and then maintaining that control in the follow-through. As always, great review guys!
I'm quite late to the party here but I really appreciate that you guys are not professional players (I mean that in the most positive way) because too many golf videos online don't really apply to me because the player doing the demonstration or lesson is already a great player. It means much more to me when I see average players use techniques, tools and clubs because it's easier to imagine having the same results myself. This was an excellent video and although I haven't used the Orange Whip yet (I just ordered it today), I am very hopeful that it will help me become a better player!
I’ve genuinely witnessed playing partners games improve ridiculously because of this aide, hence reason why I’m here. I’ve got no testament at this stage but reading with great interest through comments.
Got one for Christmas. Haven’t had a chance to go to range yet to see my ball fight but I would definitely tell it was working hitting balls into a net in my garage. I was able to get the trajectory to come off straight at impact as opposed to the typical slight right I would get. I was really feeling the legs starting the swing once the whip would start it’s rebound in the back swing. The other thing I noticed is that if I release early I would hit the ground. If I release properly the bend in the shaft prevents the ball from hitting the ground. So not only have I seen it improve my tempo/down swing sequencing, it is also helping me with my release point. Now take this with a grain of salt as I need to hit the range to truly see if it is effective but my early testing has me quite impressed and satisfied with the orange whip.
im a new golfer and would love one of these to work on tempo... im wondering what size you guys reccomend getting if you could only get one? Ive seen vids where people get the short one to help with iron swing but also practice driver swing and ive also seen people choke up on the bigger one to practice irons!
I’m personally a fan of the longer one, as I feel like it gives you a better workout, as well as tempo training. And I’ve choked up on it as well for iron type swings. With that being said, I also have a couple of iron lag trainers myself (orange whip wedge and LagShot…which we plan to review soon). - Brady
@@roberthammer2446 Video will probably be out mid August. We think it's a great training aid, as we do most Lag Trainers out there. We are also going to be reviewing the Orange Whip Wedge which Tyson has a high regard for.
The right handed guy has a super short swing, he could generate way more power and lag by swinging more fully. More rotation and flexibility. Love this product - perfect for short swings
@@GolfAscending haha thx for replying right handed guy, I'm only pointing it out because I struggled with the same problem because I thought it gave me more control. However, it's a symptom of overthinking and playing with some unconscious fear. Not trying to be a dick, hopefully being helpful. Good luck with your channel! I subscribed :)
You are supposed to just swing the whip back and foward. You really don’t address and then take a swing…that’s why you felt a lag at the beginning of the swing.
My biggest gripe about these you tube shows is editing. Too much nonessential info. And yes I know my “nonessential”may be different than someone else’s.
Well, hopefully you got the essentials you needed. We try to give as much information as we can through our testing so that whoever views the video can take what they want with it. Appreciate the feedback.
Not necessarily, you'd have to go back really slow for there not to be any lag at the takeaway if starting the orange whip swing at address to the ball. It's completely natural for some people to have quicker takeaways of whom this would affect.
You can always use something like baseball bat tape to make it thicker if that is what you need. I know they have golf specific tape that essentially does the same thing.
@@GolfAscending right after i wrote that i went out to my garage and hockey taped it cause i was tired of looking at it and not using it. Got a little workout in and it was comfortable. So ill probably start using it again
You are supposed to swing it back and forth without stopping. Not set up and take a normal swing with it. It's meant to create a fluid motion from your backswing to your follow through. When you swing it back and forth it's also great for balance and swing path. If you swing out of the swing path you will lose your balance. Great training aid. These guys are not using it correctly. They have entire routines with it.

Glad to see it comes in left hand as well.
Right?!

Lag trainers are great for improving the golf swing. They really help you get that correct swing path.
The lag in the beginning that you speak about at 6:16 is a good thing. It's taking your hands out of the equation.
DropD, Good to know! Thanks for your comment!
Just bought the orange whip today. I’m hoping it will help with my tempo and give me a smooth swing.

Thanks! Definitely worth it. Don’t know anyone who regrets buying an orange whip.

I’m 5’9”. Should I be going with a 40” or 46” training whip?
Have you guys ever tried the Lagshot??
Yes, we actually have been testing around with it and a video will be coming soon!
@@GolfAscending any idea when the video will be coming out?
What are your early conclusions?
It is on sale.

I’m more accurate with a shorter swing, and still get good distance. I’ll consider extending it in the future. - The right handed guy

Nice! And yeah, overthinking is enemy number one for me! The left handed guy on our channel (😂) is more of a see ball, hit ball kinda guy.

Although that may seem true, they have a wedge that you do address the ball with and hit shots with. So my statement still stands.
Where can I buy that 4 leaf clover hat?

I know this is an old video but if the whip is lagging during takeaway, your takeaway is too ‘snatchy’. That’s part of what this training aid can fix.

I dont like how small the grip is, 30 swings and my fingers felt like they were gonna be sore just trying to jeep contol of how heavy it is

Yep, watched their routine videos. One of the videos they have stop after the fluid motion reps and do regular swings.
