Hi guys, so this was quite a long and rambly video, I promise my next one will be more organised 😉 but I really wanted to talk about this. I suggest maybe watching this in 1.5 speed if you don’t have half an hour to spare😂. I have also put time stamps in the description!

Wow, I've never felt like like there's been ANYONE who seems to understand my experiences and struggles as much as you just described them!

Having ADHD & OCD is literally a nightmare at times, it gets really bad for me especially when I'm struggling with deadlines because the stress feeds into my intrusive thoughts and that's what my focus turns into and it's gets really hard to not pay attention to that. Thank you for sharing your experience 😊

I most my life undiagnosed with OCD. I didn’t even know what out was until a couple years ago. I’m 48. Still not officially diagnosed with it but being treated for OCD. And you are 100000……%correct, it is torture.

I have adhd and my Intrusive thoughts increased with ritalin, I spent days paralyzed in bed thinking about what a horrible person I was for having thought something "bad", my hands almost started to bleed from hitting wood and etc. Which made me realize that I've always had these behaviors, and now I see that I've maybe always had OCD. now i'm almost freaking out ruminating if i really have adhd or i've always had ocd, or if i just think i don't have adhd cause i'm taking ritalin so the Symptoms are better and I can't remember how bad it was, or I'm being a hypochondriac...and i'm on this fk loop lol

When I take my full 70mg Vyvanse capsule all at once, I get OCDish and anxious. Because if that OCDish stuff it took me forrrrrrrevvvvvvvvver to get my RUclips studio done. Everything had to be perfect and it never was. I went nuts.
Then I started “splitting” my Vyvanse and took 1/2 capsule in the morning and the other 1/2 a few hours later. Totally worked. The OCD issues faded and the anxiousness went away pretty much completely. And I was able to get my studio done and I love it. I did a video about splitting Vyvanse because splitting helped me so much. Changed my life.
And it’s awesome to see a new ADHD channel! Woo hoo! Kinda crazy that there’s out of the millions of channels on RUclips, there are only a handful of ADHD only channels.

That’s a good idea you know, might try it actually! I’m glad it worked for you😊. And yes crazy that there aren’t that many ADHD channels but hopefully we will create more awareness!

Really brave to be so open about the OCD, well done! I have the same two issues and only briefly tried ADHD meds before deciding they weren't for me. I think there are a lot of practical things you can do to manage ADHD without meds though. Hopefully the better you manage the ADHD the less stress and so the less OCD. Great you have dance to escape into anyway :D

I am curious! What ways do you help with it?? I have both ocd and adhd and recently discovered why the meds were making it worse basically and not worth taking them anymore

    • @tompearce6312

@@sheila11227 Do you mean how to manage the ADHD? For me it's been using 15 minutes in the morning to tidy up, while I have the motivation, and then 15 mins admin. I try to do that six days a week. Then having a diary with the hours in and planning realistically what I can fit in. I think there are loads of little things I do, some work, some don't. But essentially I think is just studying as much ADHD coping stuff as you can and taking away what works for you. I read one good book called 'ADHD Friendly Ways to Organise Your Life' by J. Kolberg

@@sheila11227 I think the most useful thing in that book was called a "stress analysis" where you look at why your day isn't working, and see what you can do to fix it. I think it's so easy to just keep trying and not realise you need to change what you're doing

Thank you for sharing. I'm currently in therapy and reflecting on myself and actions. I feel exactly the same say as you do. Especially with the stimulant medications; they made my ocd a lot worse and act on my compulsions a lot more.

I’m the mom of an adhd/ocd kiddo…as well as adhd/ocd myself. It’s bc of your videos & TikTok’s that I’ve begun to TRULY understand some things my son goes through. So thank you SO MUCH for your content. It’s helping with understanding so much in our home. I do have one question…can you state which medications made the ocd worse? I realize it’s different for everyone, but just as a reference.

    • @audhdbaddie
      @audhdbaddie  2 года назад +1

Stimulant meds usually make it worse. For me it was Elvanse but then again it might work for some people maybe in lower doses. Thanks for your comment❤️

is there an update on your medication? i landed here because i am in exactly the same situation. i have suffered from anxiety disorders, compulsions and tics since early childhood. i have been taking prozac for a few years now, which has almost completely suppressed the symptoms.
i was recently diagnosed with adhd (inattentive type), so my doctor prescribed me medikinet adult 10mg. Ive been taking that for a week now and it's exactly what i feared it would be. everything i hate about myself has been exacerbated. i constantly feel the need to smoke, i feel the need to pull out my hair, compulsive thoughts are back and I feel extremely nervous at times.
Alternatively, my doctor mentioned vyvanse and strattera, but he wants to try medikinet and vyvanse first, because with these medications you can judge relatively quickly whether it suits you or not. strattera is the only non-stimulant adhd medication in germany but I was told it takes weeks or even months to show its effect. the idea of living like this for months frustrates me 😭 btw you trying to read a book is 100% me. if you've found the perfect medication please let me know!!!

Hi, i have not yet found a medication as im still on the waiting list 🥲. I will do an update once they see me and let me try strattera. Im sorry youre in that situation too its horrible, i hope things get better soon!

I have ocd and i just got diagnosed with adhd and they put me on vyvanse after 2 days of it, it worsened my ocd so in my opinion vyvanse will make u feel energized and focused but also make compulsions and thoughts worse
