The way you talk about Tau makes me feel like I wouldn't enjoy reading that book. 😂 I felt very similarly about Dresden in the Dresden Files series (which I know is a hot take). But he was just so impatient and impulsive and made choices that I just could not get behind. Just think about it for like 5 seconds before you run off doing something, Dresden. Not a villain or even a terrible person, but definitely drove me crazy.
I hate Nesta from ACOTAR series. She’s a real abuser and it never gets resolved even in her “redemption” book. I honestly don’t like her but I think I “hate” her because of her fans. They constantly justify her abusive behavior and it makes me hate her lol

I haaate those two characters in Stormlight Archive, though they make the perfect villains 🧐 Especially hate them because they caused so much pain for that beloved character of ours 😭
I'm in the middle of the Oathbringer and still don't understand why people hate Adolin... Elhokar annoys me a lot more. Not to mention Sadeas and Amaram. I hate these two so much.
(SPOILERS FOR THE WINNOWING FLAME) Yeah, I found Hestillion really interesting... I really thought she could be redeemed for a hot second there, perhaps through her relationship to Celaphon. But nope. I certainly didn't like her, not sure I hated her as such, because I do think there something sad to her. But at the same time, like you said, there were opportunities for her to make different choices so... 😅
LOL, I had to laugh at the Rage of Dragons part. Not because I think you're wrong. But because you're absolutely right, and I'm such a sucker for it...for apparently the exact reasons that you hate it. And I totally see why. I guess I just love me a human dumpster fire as a character. Also? I'm now mentally referring to him as Tau "it's such a poor decision" Solarin, because it fits.
I'd like to add an honorable mention: Rue (Wings of Ebony). With. A. Passion. My lungs seize when I think of this MC....ugh! I'm going to go make some tea now...
the way you talked about those specific charterers in both Sanderson's book made me absolutely curious now to know who are them 😅😅gotta say i have some guesses but if it's them.... i want to know🙃 and speaking of characters i hate , the entire characters in the falling kingdom are absolute dumb. specially lucia demora if you know what i mean. that girl is so repulsive and did nothing but bring trouble.
I called you mentioning Hilo, though I thought you wld add Rin from poppy war and Matt from the wheel of time. Other characters I hate are the main character in young elites and touraine from the unbroken.
Me with Stormlight Archive: Oh yeah, she is definitely talking about X, sure of it. I hate them too. Yep, they are awful... Wait a minute... But Y is awful as well, and could also fit with this desciption... Does Elliot mean X or Y? Elliot, hearing my thoughts: "By the way, this could also fit for someone else, and you know what? I hate both of them." Thank you for answering my question. 😆
I was specifically talking about Sadeas and Amaram, so them 😂 I hate Moash too, but I also kinda find him too interesting and depressing to hate like I do the others!
Robin Hobb is great at writing characters I hate. I hate Royal in the Farseer trilogy and I kept waiting for him to get his and it was so frustrating reading how terrible he was. Now I'm reading Liveship traders and wondering if I can even take 3 books of Kyle Haven.
Please tell me I'm not the only one who hates characters based on my mood. Like, certain moods dictate how much I can tolerate from some characters and their behaviors. I absolutely love House of Night series but I've recently started to hate some of my favorite characters because of my mental health. I just can't tolerate their personality and some of the crap they do. I was doing a re-read and had to stop because it was making me hate the book
I'm going through the Wheel of Time for first time, and I'm about halfway through The Shadow Rising. I absolutely loathe Nynaeve, and Faile is quickly becoming just as hateable. I get the whole political landscape is different and I actually really love this world that Jordan has setup, but these two frequently cross the line. They have obnoxious tempers and inflated egos, but really, they're just abusive bullies. I absolutely love everything else in this story so far, but they are just insufferable.
I'm so glad to hear that! (That sounds weird, but you probably get what I mean.) I felt the exact same way, and couldn't understand at all how people found them 'strong feminists'... ...after book 9 I finally found them bearable, but I've still never found them likable in the slightest 😅
I am so glad to see I’m not the only one. I love the world Robert Jordan created, I thoroughly enjoy the story, but I hate all the female characters, especially Nynaeve and Faile. I did a bit of googling and YouTubing but seemingly everyone loves them and thinks they’re strong females/feminists. They aren’t. They’re just ungrateful bullies that constantly make the same stupid mistakes and then berate, belittle, and abuse the men that come to their rescue.
@@Rhendali I have to disagree with you a bit, because I don't hate all the women. I go back and forth on Egwene and Moiraine, sometimes I like them and others I don't. But I like Verin and I really like Elayne and Min. I just really hope Nynaeve, Faile, and to a lesser extent Egwene, get knocked down a few pegs. Most of the women can be annoying, but I think it's a bit unfair to Jordan's writing to say they're all terrible. But I definitely agree with your criticisms! Like when.... SPOILERS FOR BOOK 3 Mat rescued the three at the end of The Dragon Reborn and within seconds they're insulting him and using the power on him?? Ugh. I hated that.
@@nathanreece1154 I do go back and forth a bit on Elayne and Moiraine. But for the majority of the time, I severely dislike all the female characters. And that was one of the exact moments that came to mind when I mentioned their bullying!
It's an older series, but I cannot STAND Pol from the Sunrunner series and everyone in the Sword of Truth is pretty awful, but Richard takes a special prize. My most hated character that you're actually supposed to like, though, is from the anime Code Geass, Lelouch. My most hated character ever though, you're supposed to hate, which is Greg from the manga A Cruel God Reigns.
So the character you talked about hating in the bitter twins is the reason I couldn’t get through it. Just reading the book from their perspective killed me. Also, something about how everyone couldn’t get along and do the simplest of tasks drove me insane. Obviously, you’re not doing as well as you can because you need to listen to the one character who remembers things and stop being selfish and doing whatever you want. I rage quit book 2 because I could take it.
My all time hated character is Holland Novak. He's an immature 30 year old with an unhealthy obsession with a teenage girl who spends the first half of his show beating up a 14 year old boy over petty slights. And he's the hero.
There's always one character that comes to mind for me whenever the topic of hated characters comes up. I despise Avril Bitra from Anne McCaffrey's Dragonsdawn. To this day I don't even like the name Avril bc of this character. She's deceitful, jealous, greedy, self-centered, duplicitous...I cannot stand her
You're suppose to hate those Cosmere characters. I keep putting off rereading Mistborn era 2 because of how much I hate Wayne. He's so immature and cartoony, I can't even understand how people can debate who's better Wayne or the Lopen
Spoiler from Stormlight(sort of) . . . Not sure he’s the character you were talking about in Stormlight Archive... but I liked Elhokar. He’s multifaceted. I know that most of the time he was annoying, but if you think about it, the position he occupied wasn’t easy to fill. I guess he’s the type of character that wants to do the right thing but doesn’t know how to do so. This side of his character is more evident in the following books though.
I am writing this two seconds in as i believe it will be a classic video love this lady and her amazing channel please stay safe and enjoy your reading 📖 love your number one Australia fan friend John
Love this kind of videos! 😁 But wait, is the mistborn one... Spoiler (kinda) The father or the son?? Cause i don't remember which one had the bedroom slave. Also both were awful!
I usually don't read any of the books you read. And watch your channel to understand the fantasy genre. Constructive criticism here, as you are keeping it too spoiler free, every rant sounded like the others. Please consider fully spoilery rants with time stamps.
I appreciate the constructive criticism! There were only a couple of characters I didn’t name :) I did have time stamps for some spoiler ones, and there are specific differences I pointed out about each of the various characters. I’m sorry it wasn’t specific enough for you though!
The two characters that I absolutely hate are Rin from The Poppy War and Jorg from The Broken Empire. Rin is the most insufferable character I've ever read and a majority of the time I just wanted to slap her. Ended up DNFing the book because I hated her whiny, spoiled behavior. Jorg... is Jorg and even when you find out why he is the way he is, I at that point couldn't have cared less.
I’m in the middle of reading the ACOTAR series and honestly can’t stand Feyre! They’re is literally nothing interesting about her. One of the only characters I like and can relate to is Nesta - and I’m pretty sure Nesta gets so much hate from fans. To each their own i suppose haha :)
I hate Jasnah Kholin. I don't know why everybody thinks she's smart while she is arguably the least smart out of all p.o.v. characters but they do, and it annoys the hell out of me.
@@samchau3476 First and foremost, she does not evaluate information. Jasnah is like those people who try to learn as much by heart as possible but don't go any further than that. She does not analyze, and, most importantly, she does not form her own opinion. Plus, if she has adopted an opinion, she does not diverge from it. Also, she doesn't seem to talk to people that much. If you don't get others' opinions and points of view, you can't broaden your horizon.
@@Morfeusm I did not take emotional intelligence into account at all when making my statement. Also, I don't know if it is possible to say that she isn't emotionally intelligent. Dalinar sure isn't as we could see throughout the series and especially in the flashbacks in Oathbringer, but I feel like Jasnah's actions are more like her choice and not the consequences of an inability.
@@FranziSvana it’s actually interesting observation she uses intuition more than pure logic. I only read books once but I am sure she traces her knowledge from emotional decision to deny God and most of her achievements are simply stemming from her unique look on things rather an scientific approach. However I wouldn’t find this a flaw of her intelligence. On the quite contrary we don’t have enough information about her to make a fair judgment of her logical prowess as a scholar. As you pointed out she is bad at communicating with people and she is relying on her truths more dogmatically as modern scientist should but I don’t think that makes her not smart. I would wait for her book for my final judgment 😛
@@Morfeusm By the way, in case you haven't seen the author's ig stories, she said that she has added (or will add soon, I don't remember) a nsfw short novella of Hilo and his wife, if I'm not mistaken, on her patreon.
I really absolutely can not stand Adolin... I don't understand everyone loving him and I always feel like the odd one out when I say I don't like him lol I was hoping I would end up liking him more as I read Oathbringer but I have no real high hopes haha
I don't love him but I don't understand how anyone would dislike him either. He's a bit bland but is getting better, I think. I guess sometimes characters from books remind us of someone from our past (or present) and we project on them what we feel for those people.
Lol. Books are essentially written to appease the readers. One is practically told who to hate and to like. Lady, if you have problems with the characters in the stories, then you have no idea what the real world is like. You are most fortunate for having lived such a sheltered life. And the comment about taking love for granted? This country alone has a divorce rate of well near 60% if not that. Taking love for granted is the essence of humanity. While I may agree with your sentiments, your comment is truly an understatement for the ages. Tragically, people are almost always too often blind to themselves let alone being blind to others. Humanity is like the night sky. A vast field of shades of darkness with specks of brilliant, sparkling light. This is our nature; however, our nature is not an excuse. The good is brief and can never hold the night but is radiant enough to guide from the darkness. This is the tragedy that is humanity.

@@liul hated him to, I think I disliked almost everyone for the whole first book but some grew on me
I knew as soon as I saw the title that you would put rage of dragons on here 😂
When you showed The Well of Ascension I was screaming “YES” thinking you would bash the hell out of Elend the most boring character in the world Venture and then you said his father😭😭(I don’t like Staff, but I think he appears in so few pages that He doesn’t annoys me as much as ELEND who is basically the main character in this book and the main reason why this book is SO awful) (I loved the final empire but book 2 was just yikes)
YES! Elend was the ultimate bore
this has been the best video surrounding this concept i watched and i have not read a single book from here so more please!!
YES!! I totally agree about the brother from Small Favors! The literal WORST 😅
We listened to your videos on our way to school I told my son I bet you a dollar she is going to say ....blank...... From stl. and when you said you were not saying names ,he said okay I want my dollar.😂😂😂😂.im a dollar down but being a longtime listener I know exactly who you're talking about and that was fun
I’m sorry I cost you that dollar! 😂
@@ebnovels it was lolzzz!!! We apreciate your company in the morning❤
I don't even know who I hate at this moment tbh. The latest story I've experienced was attack on Titan and I'm totally crushed 😥
ROFL 🤣🤣🤣 - totally get what your saying in some of the book you mentioned that I’ve read but your reaction to them was priceless…
I haaate those two characters in Stormlight Archive, though they make the perfect villains 🧐 Especially hate them because they caused so much pain for that beloved character of ours 😭
I hate Nezha a lot but I also kind of hate Rin in the poppy wars
I'm in the middle of the Oathbringer and still don't understand why people hate Adolin... Elhokar annoys me a lot more. Not to mention Sadeas and Amaram. I hate these two so much.
Personally, Shallan annoys me more than anyone
@@abhinavshankar414 YES! Shallan is just the most annoyingly horrific character in the whole series.
(SPOILERS FOR THE WINNOWING FLAME)
Yeah, I found Hestillion really interesting...
Straff venture in well of ascension?
Yup
the way you talked about those specific charterers in both Sanderson's book made me absolutely curious now to know who are them 😅😅gotta say i have some guesses but if it's them.... i want to know🙃
and speaking of characters i hate , the entire characters in the falling kingdom are absolute dumb. specially lucia demora if you know what i mean. that girl is so repulsive and did nothing but bring trouble.
Who the heck had a "bedroom slave" in Mistborn?? Haha I don't remember that at all *spoilers*
SPOILERS:
Straff wants a slave brought to him that looks like Vin after Elend and Vin meet with him, and it’s kinda implied then
@@ebnovels oooh yeah that's right. It took me way too long to remember who Straff is 😂 I've read too many books between Mistborn and now haha
I called you mentioning Hilo, though I thought you wld add Rin from poppy war and Matt from the wheel of time. Other characters I hate are the main character in young elites and touraine from the unbroken.
I hate Bero from Greenbone Saga so much, I cannot even... But I love Hilo :D
Do you think Fonda will kill Bero off in Jade Legacy?
Me with Stormlight Archive: Oh yeah, she is definitely talking about X, sure of it. I hate them too. Yep, they are awful... Wait a minute... But Y is awful as well, and could also fit with this desciption... Does Elliot mean X or Y?
Elliot, hearing my thoughts: "By the way, this could also fit for someone else, and you know what? I hate both of them."
Thank you for answering my question. 😆
Spoiler
Elliot, who do you dislike more: Moash or Sadess?
I was specifically talking about Sadeas and Amaram, so them 😂 I hate Moash too, but I also kinda find him too interesting and depressing to hate like I do the others!
Sadeas and Amaram are the worst!! I absolutely hated them. I hated Moash... He's just... Arghh... annoying.
The character I hate the most is Mary Hightower from the Skinjacker Trilogy. I loathe her.
I hate ; Nicasia from The cruel prince; Zouya from TGT, i hate Blue Sargent from the raven king, Mia Corvere like wtf and more.....
Robin Hobb is great at writing characters I hate. I hate Royal in the Farseer trilogy and I kept waiting for him to get his and it was so frustrating reading how terrible he was. Now I'm reading Liveship traders and wondering if I can even take 3 books of Kyle Haven.
I'm reading the bitter twins because of you and I totally get it 🤢
Please tell me I'm not the only one who hates characters based on my mood.
@@verisecheung3233 Ha! Not weird at all, I totally get it. Yikes. Book 9? Man, I was hoping they'd get more bearable sooner. 😬
SPOILERS FOR BOOK 3
Mat rescued the three at the end of The Dragon Reborn and within seconds they're insulting him and using the power on him??
Are you referring to the person Vintage saved at the end of book one? Because that’s who I’m referring to.
@@ebnovels It’s been a while since I read it. I’m referring to the person obsessed with a tree.
@@sarahmellinger2907 Gotcha! They're not who I was referring to, but I also get really mad at them
The 'Hate' in the thumbnail has magically summoned me... I would agree that Tau is very focused haha. OH MY GOD I HATE HILO SO! SO! MUCH!
Regal farseer
I find verity so much more annoying
My all time hated character is Holland Novak. He's an immature 30 year old with an unhealthy obsession with a teenage girl who spends the first half of his show beating up a 14 year old boy over petty slights. And he's the hero.
There's always one character that comes to mind for me whenever the topic of hated characters comes up. I despise Avril Bitra from Anne McCaffrey's Dragonsdawn. To this day I don't even like the name Avril bc of this character. She's deceitful, jealous, greedy, self-centered, duplicitous...I cannot stand her
i love this concept! and yes i agree with all the ones that i know about ! =D
I know exactly who you are talking about with the winnowing flame trilogy and s a m e 😭😭😭
Recently read Fireborne, now I’m curioussssss
You don’t want Robin Hood to be an abuser!
I would love to know the characters' names directly....helps, especially if you haven't read the book...LOL
I still have to read the stormlight archives 😩
lol I don't hate Adolin either but I love to rant about him 😂
Once hated a character, got sued by a ficional character!
Here for the Tau rant 😂
You're suppose to hate those Cosmere characters. I keep putting off rereading Mistborn era 2 because of how much I hate Wayne. He's so immature and cartoony, I can't even understand how people can debate who's better Wayne or the Lopen
Haha, I know you’re supposed to hate them 😆 I don’t like Wayne either! Though I don’t hate him like the ones I mentioned.
Aww what? I love Wayne!! 😊
Well of ascension’s character is just awful and disgusting and their ending was so satisfying
I read it a long time ago and I forgot most of it, could you tell me the name of the character please ?

Not sure he’s the character you were talking about in Stormlight Archive... but I liked Elhokar. He’s multifaceted. I know that most of the time he was annoying, but if you think about it, the position he occupied wasn’t easy to fill. I guess he’s the type of character that wants to do the right thing but doesn’t know how to do so. This side of his character is more evident in the following books though.
I think she was talking about either Amaram or Sadeas.
Definitely wasn’t talking about Elhokar :) The other comment has the people I was talking about
@@ebnovels oh, I see. 🤣😅
Well... I dislike them too.

Maybe around page 700...it's Sanderson after all...LOL
I really hate Merlin from "my boyfriend Merlin" trilogy. I found him so annoying.
Tau is less dumb in book 2. lol
Love this kind of videos! 😁 But wait, is the mistborn one... Spoiler (kinda)
The father or the son?? Cause i don't remember which one had the bedroom slave. Also both were awful!
@Apoorv Mathur Straff Venture?
LUCY from Fallen absolutely sucks
What a great idea. I love to hate characters in great books
Hahahaaaaaa the storm light archives one 🤭
I usually don't read any of the books you read. And watch your channel to understand the fantasy genre. Constructive criticism here, as you are keeping it too spoiler free, every rant sounded like the others. Please consider fully spoilery rants with time stamps.
I appreciate the constructive criticism! There were only a couple of characters I didn’t name :) I did have time stamps for some spoiler ones, and there are specific differences I pointed out about each of the various characters. I’m sorry it wasn’t specific enough for you though!
I agree with the stormlight characters! lool
OMG YES I hate Rin lol. I'm trying to pull through with the books, but she is just so annoying...
I hate Feyre and Rhysand lmao I feel so lonely because everyone love them ^^'
@@alexwalker9698 I want to hit Rhysand with a blunt object every time he appears so I feel u🤝

@@joyahawkrose3984 yes! That's the reason I'm grinding through the other books to get to a court of silver flames. Glad you liked that book! :)
I hate Jasnah Kholin. I don't know why everybody thinks she's smart while she is arguably the least smart out of all p.o.v. characters but they do, and it annoys the hell out of me.
I'm a bit curious now - why do you think she's the least smart out of all the others?
I agree her emotional intelligence is so low it actually makes her flawed genius, she is so stupid in some ways yet so brilliant in others…

I really absolutely can not stand Adolin... I don't understand everyone loving him and I always feel like the odd one out when I say I don't like him lol I was hoping I would end up liking him more as I read Oathbringer but I have no real high hopes haha
I don't love him but I don't understand how anyone would dislike him either. He's a bit bland but is getting better, I think.
I guess sometimes characters from books remind us of someone from our past (or present) and we project on them what we feel for those people.
@@liul I think he just reminds me of a frat boy dude bro 😂😂😂
All of Sanderson’s characters are boring as
You realize people can have reactions to both silly things and important things, right?
You realize this is a booktube video? Like we are here to be entertained by fun bookish thoughts. Like we can take serious stuff seriously, and we are allowed to enjoy fun bookish reactions. Do we think Elle doesn't sleep because she hates characters? Of course not.
