I bought a MR2 MK3 Tf300 off my grandad a couple months back and honestly these are the best roadsters you can get! Fun, reliable and cheap very underrated cars!! Blinding review mate. Subscribed😁
The TF300 is a brilliant car, going for big money now, last edition of the MK3’s I think? Sounds like you got a great deal. Thanks for the support, very much appreciated. Cheers
There are a couple of luggage compartments behind the seats which nobody mentions. Not huge, but you can get a couple of soft cases or bags of shopping in there.
I wanted a toy car and it was between mk2 & mk3. But the mk3 won easily due to the way it drives, simples. There is luggage space behind rear seats that you didn’t mention. The prices are now rising so unlikely to get a car like that for what you paid. Very easy to work to. Just make sure you check for rust on sills & rear cross members. Surface rust easy to deal with. MR2 owners club very helpful with information.
Yes very happy with it, lovely car and inspected for rust regularly. Rear subframe totally clear. I also own a MK2 Rev 5 which I love to bits, but rust is a major problem on these, constant battle. My ultimate goal is a V6 ideally on a Mk 2. Best wishes, Jim
Man that stock blue is gorgeous ! I have a 2zz swapped 01 “frog” myself ! Man I absolutely ADORE this lil canyon carver ! Mine is the boring silver / grey 😒 but i think i am going to go pure full white but man does that blue look GORGEOUS 😍
@@Jim-Andrews-Thailand the only reasoning i can think of as to why they DIDNT put it in the spyder is because of the partnership they had with lotus and that the 2zz was the chosen powerplant for the lotus. if you think about it from a business prospective it makes sense. they didnt want people choosing the spyder over the more expensive lotus. THAT spyder would have been a easy choice to make from a price standpoint for most consumers ! why spend $50k on a car that you can basically throw a few grand at and almost have an identical platform ?
Same colour as mine. The 'boot' is behind the seats, they fold forward and there are two lockable doors. You can get a couple of soft holdalls for a weekend away, or several bags of shopping. Some take the spacesaver wheel out and carry a can of tyre inflator stuff instead for more space BUT the weight of the wheel helps the overall handling/stability. Tyre pressures are crucial - they need to be spot on or the car feels skittish.
Hi James big apologies missed this comment. Yes I see a few people removing the space saver to use as a boot but Im with you with the weight issue and handling. Ive got some nice 17 inch wheels on the front and regularly check the pressures so crucial. Thanks for the feedback and support very much appreciated - cheers Jim
Just been on FB MP and found 3 for a grand each. You spend that on a SLK and c what you get..........🤣😂 In regards to the milage on these cars, sub 90 k is common.
Hi Adam could return now but waiting for my 2nd jab plus few things to sort here as always. Pretty sure it will happen as I really need to return, been far too long. Thanks for the support- Cheers Jim
Love the car. I live in NC so I think I would easily crash driving on the other side of the road. 😆 Some say it’s easier than the way we drive on the right side. Who knows 🤷♀️ Keep posting! Hopefully we will see a new video soon. Could you possibly do a Q&A video? Basically we ask you questions and you answer them on a video. If you’re interested in doing one just say so when ending your next video. Then we can comment any questions we may have and you write the questions out that you’re willing to answer and just do a video answering questions. Will help us to get to know you better. Have a wonderful week sir & a fantastic weekend! Be safe out at sea 😉
Hi Crystal once again thanks for the support & kind words, very much appreciated. I would love to do a Q & A, but sadly have little free time for you tube as moving house, pretty stressful. My plan is return to Thailand at the end of the year and then continue with my channel. If i get any free time of course I will film something or even do a livestream. Thanks for watching & best wishes - Jim
Had a new mk3 for a day whilst mr mk2 was in for service/mot, agree with most of the points, lack a storage space etc glad to get my mk2 back from dealer who stated they had several people interested in buying mine thinking it was for sale on their forecourt.
Yes Love the MK2 any day over the Mk3. Great feeling when you know people are interested in your car, very desirable cars indeed. Thanks for the support & best wishes, Jim
Good video Jim. Could we ask what you paid for your blue one in the video? It's very tidy. I paid £1040 for a 2000 (imported 2015) MR-S last week, couple of light dings but well serviced & has been a complete blast.
Hi Ollie got this for a couple of grand, but obviously worth alot more. I do see a few cheap ones coming on facebook market place for a grand, but they go quick. I also have a MK2 and these prices are crazy expensive especially the turbo. Ideally would love a V6 woodsport MK2 insane. Thanks for the support very much appreciated - Jim
Yes Gaz loads come up on ebay, gumtree & autotrader. You can check their Mot history out on the government website very useful. Like i said totally impractical but fun cars to drive. Thanks for the support, Jim
Hi Jim looking for one of these myself and really are struggling to find any really good ones for under £3000. Especially the Japanese imports (which are especially my favourite) any ideas where to get such a good price? Thanks
Hi Jim cheap ones tend to come up on Facebook Market place, but its relentless checking and gumtree as well. Autotrader can be Ok sometimes with people wanting a quick sale. I bought my Mk 2 Rev 5 on ‘Pistonheads’ and car was located in Edinburgh, absolute steal. Tend to find cars in Scotland much cheaper. And buy in the winter time, not summer. Good luck with the search Jim
I compare this to my MK2 and much prefer the older model to the MK3. Yes totally agree you really have to thrash them to get any where fast. I really wish they had put the 2ZZ engine in this, what a car that would have been. Thanks for the watching, Jim
No they don't rust like MX5s, the only place to look out for is the rear subframe which rot from the inside out due to condensation build up as the catalytic converter sits next to it. It is an easy fix over a weekend and about £200 for a new subframe.
Yes Yorki that was the first thing i checked before viewing the car and seems genuine. I just got it Mot’d today and it flew through with no advisories so well happy! Thanks for watching!
Hi JB did pay more than 1K for this, but I see a few come up in Devon for under 1k. Almost like people just want rid of them crazy as great cars! Thanks for the support - Jim
I don't have a family so I'm happy. Mk2 (had 6) is nowhere near as good as a sorted mk3. Without a lot of money, it will handle like it's on rails body flexes without solid roof. Race one hill-climbing this year if all goes well braced and at 19tdi 225 bhp engine for driving Europe.
Now that made me laugh comparing me to Jeremy Clarkson great to know LOL! Thanks for watching and supporting the channel very much appreciated! I really can't wait to get back to Thailand. All the best - Jim

A grand for a low mileage MR2 mk3? No more of those around, that's a £3k+ car all day long.
Yes mate totally agree with this one, total steal, cheers
Low mileage get would start at 8000

What is the car like for taller people?
I’m 6 ft and it’s fine. Cabin is compact though. Get the roof off and it’s a lovely car. Loads of cheap ones out there!
I love the blue one💗💗

Mr2 6mt 1zz vs mx5 nb 1.8vvt with factory lsd and ohlins suspension? Here in Thailand prices almost the same , around 20k usd..
