      Hi Alexandria. Wow you made making those roses look easy! But I found them quite difficult. My climate at the moment is wet with very high humidity (70 - 80%). I cheated and often had to apply the petals separately so it was less fiddly and that way I could control them a bit better. I have metal ball tools with plastic blue bits you hold. I don't know if they are bad quality or it's the humidity, but I often find the ball tool sticks when I'm trying to thin the edges. I take it, that I simply keep putting shortening on it? Thanks again for showing and teaching us all your wonderful skills. :)

    Do you use the soft or hard side of your textureing mat?

    The edges of my petals cracked, then crumbled as I tried to frill or roll them, then they broke away from my cluster. Yikes.

    • @FinespunCakes
      @FinespunCakes  2 года назад

      Gumpaste- yes. Since it's homemade it has to stay in the fridge.

  • @carolemarois8072
    @carolemarois8072 2 года назад

    Hi Alexandria, question about your gumpaste. I have been making your recipe for a while now and I find it is drying very fast. I do follow your recipe and do use the Confectioner's Choice CMC. it is sometimes too dry by the time I place it on the centre and can only roll it once, otherwise it get crumbly. I am in Whitby, Ontario. Should I reduce the amount of CMC on my next batch.

    • @FinespunCakes
      @FinespunCakes  2 года назад

      Hey Carole, Hmm, yes I'd try reducing the CMC slightly. With your current batch knead in a few drops of water at a time until it's more hydrated.
