Crash being above Shape of Water, Moonlight, Rocky... WTF PEOPLE
Donald Marotta There are indeed some “surprises” in the ranking. I’m glad that the Godfather I and II are in the first and second position in the ranking. No surprise here!
I could understand it being above shape of water and moonlight
But ROCKY , WTF
@@poison6084 can’t say I agree with you. Moonlight is a FAR better than Crash, Shape of Water and Rocky.
@@StallingsFilm I've changed my opinion , moonlight is better than crash
and birdman!!
American Beauty (1999) was very well deserved, people have clearly forgotten what a good movie looks like!!!
American Beauty is a good movie. The average score For This movie is 8.35.
the list is understandable because some movies got reviewed by more audience resulting in possible lower score, so its not exactly fair... well, can't complaint about audience score, thank you for counting the average from different sites instead of just using one👍👍
I also would have put some movies higher and some lower. Haven’t seen them all, so couldn’t make a personal list. I think for somebody looking for a movie to watch it’s a good list to start with!
Casablanca is still incredible and Parasite is wonderful. Also The Artist absolutely deserved the win it got, amazing movie.
Don’t know about The Artist, haven’t seen it yet (it’s on my watch list) but Casablanca for sure is a good movie (it was a very long time ago that I have seen it). Parasite is another great movie ( I’m curious about the 2021 oscars, can’t wait 😃)
Titanic rated badly, for me this is one of the best pictures of all time. 😳
Titanic is a good movie! The ratings are the average audience ratings from 3 movie sites.
Titanic, gone went the wind and Amadeus decerve the first places, according to me😉
I admire what is being done, but realize that rating these film by these parameters (IMDB founded 1990/TMDB founded 2008/Rotten Tomatoes 1998), skews to the newer films and many of the older films score low - Because you miss the ambience of seeing these films in theatres under the optimum conditions of the times. Still Spotlight took the time to put together and I will appreciate for the effort. thanks.
Return of the king should’ve been in the top 5
I agree with you, this is not my personal list.... in my list it would have been definitely much higher.... 👍✅
@@spotlight2948 Yeah I know of course... but the list still good
the fact that you included rotten tomatoes ratings in this rating system ruins the video
The Shape of Water is below Shakespeare in Love, Crash, etc? Wtf is wrong with you people?
Although I find it difficult to make a personal list...I would have put some movies higher and some lower. This list is made from the audience score from three different movie sites. Even between those sites there were sometimes significant differences in ratings👍✅
@@spotlight2948 Least the audience got two things right: The Godfather movies ranking #1/#2.
@@arcanesiren629 Indeed they did that right. They belong at the top for sure!
Both Crash and The Shape of Water are very good.
Haven't seen Shakespeare in Love yet.

there's no way the shape of water and titanic being that low
There's a beautiful irony in how white audiences claim to support black cinema, and then put Green Book like 50 places higher than Moonlight
Ah yes, because IMDb is entirely decided by white people.
@Jeepman89 How so?
@Jeepman89 What “new agenda”? Green book is an example of white men thinking it’s their job to tell stories about black people, and failing. Moonlight is real life told by black filmmakers, not some glossed over Hollywood sympathyfest like green book
@Jeepman89 Green Book is entertaining but simplistic as shit. Moonlight is fascinating and certainly not boring if you like film at all.
Moonlight = 😴
Good list!
Thank You!
Here is the greatest Best Picture winner I have seen thus far, from each decade:

-"Ben-Hur" (1959)
-"Gentleman's Agreement" (1947)
-"The Life of Emile Zola" (1937)
Pretty much in disagree ngl, but i respect you guys for taking the time to do this.
Thanks! I don’t agree also with All the scores. I would have given Some movies a higher score and Some a lower score. The scores are calculated from the average scores from 3 moviesites (given by people who watched the movie). So yes... it’s subjectiv.
Really cool list. Green Book is uncomfortably high on it. #NeverForgetRoma
Well, let's see if 80 years down the road, people will still remember American Beauty above Gone With The Wind. Or the movie American Beauty and Green Book at all.
You should do your own personal ranking
Haven’t seen All those movies yet....maybe Some day I Will !
@@spotlight2948 oh well thinking about it it's not that surprising. I haven't seen them all either, not even close.
I would put Pee Wees BIG Adventure at # 1
Good list would have put some higher, some lower but it great the way it is

I totally agree with this
I pretty much agree. My one change would be Se7en over Braveheart for 1995 but that is me being biased because Se7en is my favorite movie of all time.
I agree with a lot of these but definitely not all. Some voters have different tastes in movies and will prefer a musical over a drama or the other way around. And then there are some years like 95 when I'm ok with any of the 3 winning (Forrest Gump, Pulp Fiction or Shawshank Redemption) those are 3 of my favorite movies, can make an argument for or against any of them all 3 were worthy of a win. Cool list though to discuss.
The lack of Return of the King not being number 1 is disturbing
What kind of criteria used to be considered the greatest best picture of all time? Nothing wrong with the Godfather placing number #1, I guess. Other best pictures winners are not popular in Asia in terms of box office and critics choice. People will not spend more money watching these movies over and over again if they don't like it.
The scores shown in the video are the average audience scores from 3 movie sites. All these scores given are for sure subjective. But many of the ratings are from hundreds of thousands audience scores...so it tend to show which movies a majority of people like.
How is Annie Hall so high up? I know it’s considered one of the greats, but Star Wars is so much better. For proof AFI made a list of the Greatest Films of All Time and Star Wars was #13 and Annie Hall was #35.
This is the list of Best Picture winners and Star Wars didn't win.
I know but it shouldn’t be so high up there on the list
This is kind of an awful list, how the hell is Crash that high??
The list is based on audience scores. It is the average from 3 movie sites: IMDB, TMDb and Rotten Tomatoes 🍅. I myself would have put some movies higher and some movies lower. There are although movies which I haven’t seen yet. So I couldn’t’ make my personal list. Maybe someday!
Watch Crash if you haven't seen it yet just ignore the haters
Where is The Dark Knight
Audience score ahahahahahaha
Dumb rankings
Oh God. 'Slumdog Millionaire' is a trash. Why it's so high. It's a cliche film about India and Indians. Duhh.
The ranking in the video is not my personal ranking. I haven’t seen All the movies, so it wouldn’t be possible to give my personal ranking of those movies. The ranking in This video is based on the average (given by people) from 3 moviesites as You can see in the description. I’m sure that more people would like Some movies to be higher and Some lower. I also would have put Some movies higher and Some lower. 👍❤️
@@spotlight2948 I understand friend and I really appreciate your effort. Also people's perception and liking get changed over the time. However I think good/extraordinary films get cult status over a period and big budget hypes get fizzle down(Titanic, Avatar). Same happens for Slumdog too.
@@moiyankabose I Know, I think let’s say ten years from now the rankings will for sure be different from what they are now. If you like my channel consider subscribing, would appreciate it!👍✅😃
This list sucks
The Silence of the Lambs is way too high. That movie hasn't aged well. The movie is not up to par with the 2 lead performances.
It is a long time ago that I’ve watched The Silence of the lambs and I have to say that I watched it only twice. Wasn’t really paying attention the second time I watched it and I Must say that I Don’t feel the need to watch it again. Braveheart, which won also 5 Oscars I have watched maybe 3 or 4 times. The same goes for The Godfather trilogy...So yeah for me also The Silence of the lambs hasn’t stand the test of time.
Silence of the Lambs is amzing
Silence of the lambs is great. Actually the dated feeling makes it more nostalgic.
@@maxwellpowell7413 ...Just to make it clear... Silence of the lambs is a good movie....I enjoyed watching it the first time...it’s just not the kind of movie I feel I have to watch again. There are many good movies I feel the same about. Also there are a lot of movies (some great ones some not so) I feel I have to watch again...why ? ... don’t exactly know ... certainly it’s something personal ... probably there is something in those movies I can relate to more than with other movies. 👍✅
Nope. Silence of the Lambs is a masterpiece
