Charlie Dore is Randy Newman without the cynicism. This is a beautiful piece of music & quite an original idea for a song. Beautifully sung by Charlie -- with nostalgia & affection in her tone.
Very belated thanks for these kind words, John. I'm very flattered to even be mentioned in the same sentence as Randy Newman. I may have to quote you on that comparison! He's one of my greatest heroes. Thanks you.
I'm a 37 year old man. Three years ago, I came across your song by chance at a restaurant in Japan. I always listen to it when I'm driving, when I'm sleeping. Please stay healthy and sing, thank you.
What a beautiful and evocative song. A song loaded with nostalgia (the pain of missing the past) and a wonderful sparse arrangement with all the spaces between the piano chords. It goes right to the pain of missing loved ones and the knowledge that age takes away our names by making the fashion of name-choosing will make us all irrelevant one day.
Listening once again ❤️ I’m picking up a “Those were the days ,” vibe tonight. Although your voice exceeds the beauty of Mary Hopkins. Peace & love 😇😍✌️
Beautiful statement on the human experience of time. Genuinely cool 👍

What a gift this song is, feels like a song like this should always have existed, yet it is uniquely from Charlie. Wonderful and magical
Hauntingly beautiful.

Love this Charlie. Tom's video work truly emphasises the melancholy wistfulness of this lovely song.
