finally an official tutorial from MT for chr in proxmox. Thank you!
Год назад+9
Already using CHR on proxmox for 3 years. Great way to teach students with minimum hardware requirements. But at some point I need hardware, to show what the setup looks like in real life.
Great tutorial! Some things to mention: 1. A VM without a proper boot device should fallback to Netboot and can be close via the shutdown option 2. You can apply the updated network config with the button "Apply configuration" without rebooting the node. Can you do a tutorial with proxmox using the CCR2004-1G-2XS-PCIe? That would be awesome.
Hi , I am using a Dell Poweredge Server is there much of a difference using Proxmox network bridges and PCIe Passthrough, is it recommended to passthrough ?
In a cluster, I'd like to have several instances ready to take over if the active server with CHR on it fails. Will I need a separate license for all backup VMs or is one license sufficient seeing as how only one CHR will be active at all times?
Suggestion for MikroTip. How to use Partitions. To be clear, I mean multiple ROS "boot" partitions in NAND flash; what is done with /partitions command. The documentation doesn't even discuss what the /partition/activate command; there is no mention of it at all.
Installed the latest Proxmox 7.4 and CHR 7.9. The guest agent is not running. How to fix it? In the Proxmox interface, information about the guest agent: Guest Agent not running. I do: qm agent 3000 ping I get the result: QEMU guest agent is not running In Proxmox 6.4, the guest agent works.

hello, how to pass connection status from passthrow pci NIC to VM? When I passthrow NIC into CHR VM all interfaces are running, even the cable does not connected to them. Proxmox 7.4 + CHR 7.8 (host on CPU N5105 G30)
That is a peculiarity with QEMU/KVM where the interface status is always running, the only way around that would be to do a PCIe passthrough for your network card.

NICE !! Lots of people are going to love this !! good work !
Great video! I'm using MT hardware for many years and now on the way moving away from ESX to Proxmox.
Just FYI if you had a dedicated channel with similar videos I'd watch religiously. Damn good job on the overall video production.
P.S. Mikrotik you know I love you, I'm just saying I really enjoyed this.
Loving this Proxmox series, that's what we use at work (cloud provider), Proxmox + Mikrotik, solid pair, high performance
Wow, very very nice. Great rundown of the issues. Great explanations, and really succinct.
I recommend adding a single vlan-aware bridge instead of creating individual bridges per vlan as shown in 06:54. Saves you alot of time.
Doesn't work if your VLAN traffic needs to have a different MTU though...

1. The shutdown button does not trigger before a reboot is initiated.
2. Might be a valid rookie mistake :)
@@RB01-lite Stop command works. The format is qm stop vm#
Excellent and clear walk through and explanation!
Awesome video. Can you make a second video where you integrate CHR with the experimental SDN Feature in proxmox?

Is it possible to add commands to the description of the film?

If you install ifupdown2 command, no need to reboot Proxmox anytime just for change in network configuration.
Been waiting for this
Yes!!!!! Thanks!
I've got ERROR: unknown command 'qm disk'. This command 'qm importdisk 113 chr-7.8.img local-lvm' works for me
'importdisk' is an alias for 'disk import', there is no reason why only one would work.
@@RB01-lite We have outdated Virtual Environment 6.4-4 that's probably why 'qm disk import' doesn't work
doing pastrough PCI express. it will more faster networking.
Doing this in production for some BRAS/BNG using 10G adapters, pushing 8G+ concurrent traffic with 2000+ PPPoE subs ;-)
@@sidewinder7602 What specs you got on that host?

есть ли у Микротик в планах CHR для gen2 HyperV?
Hello, because in version 7 of routeros the CPU increases drastically
Hello. I'm wondering what licence level is default in this virtual appliance?
CHR comes with a free license limited to 1mbit/s. You can also apply a 60-day trial license, thus removing the speed limit.
I got it! Very easy.
Is it necessary to register CHR free ?
Will it work forever free?
*I use for dude.
Free trial works forever but software upgrade will become disabled
Would be great to do an export of this proxmox VM and just post it to your website. Otherwise great. :)
Hi please create tutorial about passtrough pci nic card to mikrotik CHR
Convert to template that is really inspired
спасибо!
qm disk import 200 chr-6.49.8.img local-lvm
storage 'local-lvm' does not exist.
8:56 something isn't correct with your colors😅
Why in the proxmox all green items / symbols are black and now the ROS console looks also strange? 🤔
There was a little mishap with the recording software :)
@@mikrotik ah ok
Interesting ESD precautions at 1:07 🤔 Was that an RMA return?
Spooky 👻. Was literally just talking about swapping a VyOS for CHR when you published this
What would be your reason to switch from VyOS to CHR? :)
@@sidewinder7602 we're hitting jitter and latency issues we can't explain in vyos on proxmox and want to start rulling out components
Proxmox running on DHCP is not even recommended . They why show how to twist configuration to run with DHCP address ?
por favor en español esta muy interesante el tema
