Heading this direction tomorrow from Valley of Fire you also inspired us to go in this general direction. Oasis campground on NM border uas a ton of agates in it's river rock roads and paths. So fun and gorgeous easy to reach.
Yes ! I even found Lanerite and turquoise right outside our camper at Summer Lake. There's Gorgeous druzzy agates EVERYWHERE there. I have found some amazing stuff on my friends family property near Albuquerque too. Gorgeous Jasper all colors. So loving NM I found petrified wood today!
whaaaaaaat haha thanks, we had to flee from the storm so sadly didn't keep much but it was fun. We really want to go back to collect more fire agate/will try to film it this time.
You folks sound like me on a rock hunt. Lots of neat rocks but I'm rarely sure of what I've found. The enjoyment is there I just need to build up my knowledge. Thank you for this.
Lived in Las Cruces for 8 years & only had a chance to pick up clear crystals at the City of Rocks once... Now live in northern Colorado & go rockhounding now I'm retired!
Hey there semiprecious, looks like some nice finds, although I don't think that was bedrock, no pillows to be seen. This was a cool video, thank you for showing us your hunt.
I have been looking for places to rockhound at in L.C and I found your videos and I am so happy I did. Those are amazing and my husband knew about that area but we have not went yet. I personally don't know how or where to find quartz at. Is there Crystal point there? I can't wait to go now!
There are crystals some out there, feldspar and quartz for sure but we didn’t find where they were coming from, just some little guys and a broken pinkie finger sized one . seems like all the rocks around there have been swirled around in floods and wind and shifting sands. It’s a fun variety though, more agate than crystals, as well as fossils and other minerals.
Fellow Las Cruces resident!
We also do a bunch of rockhounding all thru the area!!

Some of the best finds I’ve come across were by Fort Sumner in the pecos river valley area. Blood red jaspers, psychedelic colored agates, pet wood😊

So come on, Let's gooo0!
I've been meaning to take my kid out there. He will love looking for rocks.
I hope y’all find some good ones! There’s so much space to explore around there-especially if your vehicle can handle the sand.
@@semipreciousrocks it can't, but we can hike around and still have fun. Lol
