I am 70 years old and after teaching for 50 years I finally had the time to study art. Your tutorial was so very helpful and although you were worried about it taking a long time, I found it to be just perfect for me. I have never really been able to draw much more than a stick person and this my finished product after watching your tutorial was "proud-worthy"!! Thank you for teaching me!!

i just wanted to thank you. i haven't tried drawing for about 19 - 20 years and stumbling upon your videos has caused me to rekindle an old love affair. Thank you . your talent is inspirational, your lessons are meaningful and not only easy to follow , i feel that they actually teach the fundamentals and principals in way that is easy to understand and integrate into your own art work. Thank you again Mr Crilley . if i could afford to i would buy every last book you sold just to help support you and keep this content coming for many more years.

Just to say I'm loving your tutorials. Particularly how to draw realistic big cats and other animals.
Drawing has been a huge therapy for me after both my sons died within six months last year. With a pencil in my hand trying to follow your instruction I can escape the overwhelming sadness for a while at least. So thank you for sharing your talent with all of us.
Without the world wide web I might never have found the respite from grief that has kept me going. So thank you Mark. With all these thousands of miles between us we will never meet, so here I am letting you know it's not just about shading here and there, it's not just about positioning an eye or an ear, it's about making somebody smile when they thought they may never smile again. Cheers pal. Keep posting those lessons.

I´m speechless; or rather, roarless, or snarless... whatever you want to call it. I myself have made a few attempts at realism with my cartoon leopard, but I´ve never been fully satisfied with the results. Now thanks to this awesome tutorial I have a magnificent basis. But I need to look at it again, and in more detail, while I follow your steps drawing myself too.
    BRILLIANT WORK.

I think this is an important lesson for any young folks watching (or anyone really) that you don't necessarily need to have expensive art pencils to achieve amazing results.

David Attenborough: And here we see the illusive leopard in its natural habitat, it’s spots on its fur acting as camouflage as it stalks its next meal.
Mark Crilley: And here we have the leopard sniffing out its prey with its snoutal region, crawling around the doo hickey as I have noticed studying photographs.

Lol watching someone draw animals when they don't really know a lot about the animals themselves is interesting.
Combine that with Mark's notorious finesse with making up words and you get a highly entertaining video. XD
"series of black dots that it seems to me are related to uh the whiskers where they emanate from this snoutal region..." lmao
Never gets boring. Mark is a great artist even if he doesn't entirely understand what he's drawing haha. I also like seeing him making the effort to learn the anatomy of the animals as he draws them, he notes things he never noticed before like the shape of the nostrils and fur in the ears, and is true to life drawing them accurately instead of drawing a generic representation of the animal.

THANK YOU!!!! You are a fantastic teacher! I think you should call the ear hairs "ear-lashes" :) I am inspired! So surprised at the transformation from the cartoon-y lines at the beginning to the 3 dimensional look at the end. It's amazing what the contrast of the dark black and bright white add

This has been a long time for me I stumbled across this channel long ago when I was 8 now I am 12, yes I know I am young but when I finish school I plan to go to collage for a masters in animation and game creation. That is not the point here, my point is that you Mark have never discussed drawing jeans or shorts. Before I go I would like to thank you Mark nobody can ever teach me how to draw, my parents can not afford art classes, but now I have learned realism. Realism is what I need before I turn 13 I plan to start creating a game with realism, now it seems like I'm doing mission impossible but I love art and I'm a gamer girl I know what they want. Alright sorry for my story telling I just want to thank you Mark for every thing.
PS: Your Jokes Are Actually Funny. Also May You Help Me With Drawing Jeans.

I have studied many aspects of the feline species over the years as part of my veterinarian studies and one of the things I learned particularly about the nose and nostril region is the elongated breathing passage. This is primarily formed to aid in breathing when the cat is administering the kill bite on the neck of its prey. The mouth and nose is pressed tight into the hide of the prey item which would form a seal around the nose of the cat preventing the intake of air causing the cat to release its grip. The elongated areas of the nostrils on the sides allow the cat to breath effectively while it maintains its bite on the neck of the prey.

Thank you Mark. I followed your tutorial and drew the leopard. I am fairly happy with it, for a beginner. You are an excellent teacher. I was able to follow you step by step. I went over the black areas with a pitt pen and grey for some shading. I went wrong with too many hairs in the ears. I learnt a a lot, and subscribed, and plan on drawing many more of your animals. Thank you very much for teaching us.

I just wanted to come by and say Hi, Mark. I've always loved Art, and I'm not too bad at it. But I haven't been drawing for a long time, and I've noticed that most things in Art stores are changed. I love to paint Watercolour, but I've noticed that no one seems too steep or soak their watercolour paper these days. Thanks for all the work you put into your videos, Please continue to inspire. I've subscribed. Peace.
