Yes .. I lived in PITT st - 2015 when I arrived back to Auckland - great spot so close to K RD and town. The underground city rail is currently tunneling under Pitt street and then up to Newton to connect the new city loop to the existing network.

Indeed. I left Auckland in 2006 and returned to live again in 2015 - in that 9 years so much of downtown Auckland had already changed with the construction of the many apartments that now fill the skyline..
Queen Street has changed alot since the Seventies, back then it was alive with entertainment everywhere and K road was pumping with bars and nightclubs not anymore. William Percival New Zealand Gardenia Band 🇨🇰 Kia Orana.

It's so different to how it was 25 years ago when I was 25 years old. Fort Street area was a seedy dump for a start. Wish there were as many eateries, clubs and bars back then as well as being pedestrian-friendly in that part of the CBD. So in 25 years time? Yikes, I'll be 75 👵

Almost unrecognizable in places. Pre-Britomart downtown area felt almost derelict to what it is now. K Road is about to get a facelift. Kind of miss the old inner city.
Yes the America’s cup win in 1995 was a big catalyst for getting downtown remodeled .. and the current cup defense has continued the infrastructure additions.. will be great when the trees are replanted on Quay Street .. not long to wait now 👍

@@fymarchan6476 Hi - for natural attractions we recommend a cycle tour to Mission Bay and or Rangitoto Island (see our other video Cycle Auckland to Mission Bay..) Lower Queen Street and Britomart has a mix of shops -local boutiques -high street shopping and the new Commercial Bay shopping center should be opened by end of Year. Live music at Spark Arena or free events in council parks are also an option. Hopefully NZ is back up and running and our borders are reopened before your visit.
Hows Auckland now I wonder when I was there, there was too many Asians and people from India everywhere, not sure where all the Americans, Germans Russians UK seems there were too many people in the city to cope is well took ages to get my shopping done people everywhere the streets are too small is good but overall new Zealand is a lovely Western country
Work is progressing for the underground city rail network .. when finished in 2025 it will be moving 40,000 + people / hour peak times.. so the vision is to dramatically reduce the amount of people above ground -Queen Street will likely be reduced for traffic and various sections paved -High street already has side parking removed with footpaths widened .. more space downtown for pedestrians.. we shall see.

such a dirty and old fashioned city. Visited last year and saw so many homeless people on the steeet asking for cash. Buildings were old. Shopping was terrible and food was ok but not great. I felt like NZ was super lacking culture. 3/10. I prefered Austrailia.

Downtown much quieter now .. they have closed off 2 of the 4 lanes and the busses going electric . A lot more planting also. Thumbs up from me .

People there are not very friendly at all. Wasted my time and money going there in 98. Over priced and over rated
