As a Clareman in Croke Park that day who lives in Kildare and always had a soft spot for Down because of their great Pete McGrath teams in the 90s as well as having relations in the Mourne County, it was a serious bitter-sweet occasion but it was a tussle that had a great climax.

Really bad umpiring in this game can't blame the ref down goal shouldn't have stood and also should have been a penalty how could they not have seen it

all goals should have been disallowed
and that was a penalty at the end
then again mcmanamon goal against Kerry in 2011 should have been disallowed for carrying
thats just GAA iam afraid. the refs make it up as they go along
If you see games from 30 years ago refs were far stricter on over carrying and other stuff
yet would let heavy tackles go
