Seriously cant get enough of this dude explaining stuff.
Yup. That's how he is in orthodoxy 101 classes and with his homilies. Great sense of humor and refreshingly unfiltered.
@daphnepearce9411 i know, im in his 101 now.
I actually first met him via email, just looking at churches in the area. Then visited the church, and then shortly after that the videos popped up on YT.
Awesome! His holy confession class was quite lively!
@@daphnepearce9411 I agree. I went to it this last Saturday. My protestant eyes are well opened to the glory and relief of confession.
Where is it please. On line?@@dougmasters4561
"We live in the age of miracles, man." Indeed. Thank you, Father.
I can't get enough of this channel! ☦☦☦
I couldn’t help but roll my eyes when the Protestant mentioned zoom “deliverances”. The father answered gracefully though.
Let’s not limit God. If prayers can be answered from thousands of miles away, they can be answered over zoom.
What if two people, over a phone call, prayed in Jesus' Name for help and God stepped in and helped?
Have you ever prayed with a friend over the phone, or over FaceTime?
If two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.
> Mat18
We should all be careful not to roll our eyes at anything that may, indeed, be a merciful work of our Lord.
Be blessed.
@@AnHebrewChild Amazing, we should also apply this logic to the saints. Stay blessed.
I thought it was interesting when he talked about going to bless the homes of someone or someone living there who may be possessed....and he said, "I've seen things." then he got quiet....I could only imagine what he's witnessed.
If more parishes would remember that their priests are also HUMAN and not an employee on payroll, fewer priests would experience burnout, in my humble opinion.
@T.legramRootsof_Orthodoxy talk away.
Thank you Fr. This was helpful, uplifting, and funny too! Especially the part about hair/beards 😂
I am just a lowly spiritual seeker at this point but this man seems like the real deal to me… please get him a weekly long form podcast or RUclips show of some kind asap so I might be able to learn more from him 🙏
He posts his weekly homilies on his church's YT channel: St Ignatius Orthodox Christian Church
I appreciate the perspective of not caring much about your appearance. This is a massive problem in our society today. While I’m looking at surgeries to fix my bad sleep disordered breathing, I see so many “normal” people wanting to spend tens of thousands of dollars on serious surgeries just to look better. I noticed myself starting to get sucked in to this, wanting to need the surgery so I could look better as a side-effect. But no. How I look is an opportunity for humility. It’s in some ways a gift, people who are “too” pretty have a much harder time keeping their souls - like the rich man. We all wither and die, but only some will be restored with perfect bodies for eternity. I hope to be one.
I think "becoming a pharisee" was one of my biggest worries when i first started looking into orthodoxy. Especially because i was coming from a charismatic/evangelical background. But i found that, instead, love and humility are among the highest virtues in the orthodox church.
Also, he may not know who Kathryn Krick is...but i do. Oof 😅 but i appreciated that he didn't try to demean someone he's never heard of. Even if she does claim to be an apostle who can cast out demons through zoom calls.
Lastly, the exorcism part is very true. When my wife and i became catechumen our priest had us recite prayers. During these prayers, my wife started to cough. I didn't think much of it, but she later told me that she felt like someone was trying to strangle her to get her to stop praying.
If you could give a definition of what the first century Pharisee's main issue was, what would you say it was?
@@AnHebrewChild pride. Love of law over love of man. Vanity.
@@user-wz5gc2td9s interesting. Thank you for replying.
Amen!
Abouna (Father) I have lots of great ideas for my pastor in the early hours of the morning, say 4:00 onward. I don't want to lose the thought so I dictate a text message. I use delayed transmission until it arrives sometime after he gets to his office.....well beyond "6:10 a.m."
Ha ha, very wise! I have texted my priest at all kinds of odd hours not expecting to hear from him till morning. He usually gets back to me right away, and it always surprises me lol
I kept a beard for about 8 years but have recently kept clean-shaven due to some anxiety issues (compulsive behaviors of pulling at my beard that started to become a problem), so I appreciate the Orthodox view of honoring the beards that God gave to men, not being overly concerned about appearance, yet not making it obligation to have a beard.
I'm also glad that someone asked about Kathryn Krick, because I know some people who have really become followers of hers, and I see some real problems with her. The biggest problem I have right now is how she talks about people "sowing financial seeds of protection" in the spiritual realm. For example, one woman brought her son for deliverance of some kind, and Kathryn couldn't "deliver" him. She asked the mother questions, and the mother said she had spent hundreds or maybe thousands of dollars over several years trying to get help from psychics and such. So Kathryn Krick told this woman that in order for her son to be delivered, she would have to "sow financial seeds" - the more she spent on evil stuff, the more she would have to give to the kingdom (by which she undoubtedly means her church).
Also, if you go to her church's website or her personal website, there is nothing about beliefs, no creeds or statements of faith, nothing about repentance, or about the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Christ. It is literally all about her and about "deliverance."
So I really appreciated your answer related to Ms. Krick and how the Orthodox engage in such ministry all the time, just in a different way.
I am a protestant who wants to covert to Orthodoxy, but could you explain confession to me in the Orthodox context(why, where, how, when)
Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
Pretty sure there is a video on this channel from this same priest that talks about confession
Why, because sometimes we need to tell a person too, to keep us honest with ourselves. Where, usually in church. How, sometimes just a list, sometimes more counsel. When, when you need it, either for a grievous sin or a consistent sin, but preferably at least four times a year.
Well it's obviously in the Bible, but aside that, it's quite important to know that Orthodox confession is quite different than one of Roman Catholic Church.
Why?
Church is spiritual hospital, and aside of prayer for remissions of sins we also get counseling from the priest, who's our spiritual father.
where?
In church, and if you mean Biblical text, website of OCA has all verses you want to see..
how?
You just confess your sins to priest. Without going into much details actually.
when?
well usually weekly.
Who is this priest?
I once was at a mass deliverance in Zarvenytsia, Ukraine
Was very similar to the Pentecostal
But without drama, lack of reverence and tbh grift
Protestant deliverance is suss cos no theotokos
Blasphemy against mother of God and bloodline of God the son is an open door imho
Hence all the manifesting that they trigger and smartass dialogues with the unclean
All glory to the most high
Very sad what Zelensky has done to the church. What evil
The lady Kathryn Kirk or whatever - If you watch her enough, it’s all bewitchment and entertainment of the people, zero gospel. All new age inspired talk about self-seeking focus, too much pride. Lot of ego. When you see the fruit produced it’s not humbling and certainly not repentance. Its just power power - get your pump on. It’s just a show for people who are addicted to watching dramatic things, without truth in it.
That's what it seems to me, too. As I mentioned in my own comment - if you go to her church's website or her personal website, there is nothing about beliefs, no creeds or statements of faith, nothing about repentance, or about the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Christ. It is literally all about her and about "deliverance."
The people who follow her call her “Mama”. She’s 33 years old. Enough said.
