I like this idea! I have used adding machine tape, for the same process but what a pain to take off all the paper, between all the seams, with all those little bits of fabric... this makes more sense... would it gum up your sewing machine needle? or leave residue in the machine?
I didn't find that I had any issues with it gumming up my needle. It's not fusible like Steam a Seam or other products but is water soluble so really very light. And it washes out afterwards.
Looks a bit of a nuisance but i guess once you use it enough you get the hang of it
