I received a response from FNIRSI and the following is a HS-02 firmware update log. Hi, dear friend; I am Jeff, a staff from FNIRSI official store Yes, the difference of version 1.7 is that the animation option is added. V1.5 version 20240402 Changed on V1.4 version: 1. Added a scroll setting function to the system settings APP_HS_02A_V1.7_20241030.BIN
I was looking for this exact video a month before it was released. I bought the HS-02A, but seeing this gives me the confidence that I chose correctly. Thank you!
Thank you for the informative video, I did not realize that there are two versions of this iron. I am looking at picking one up for my portable repair kit.
Yes, I think they are both great. the HS-02B is great for micro to medium soldering jobs as long as there are no large heat sapping ground planes are heat sinks although you can get wedge style tips that can handle larger jobs. Now the HS-02A is the big brother and is capable of medium to large jobs and has full size tips for it. in fact it will be taking the place of my soldering station. i have many irons i'll be evaluating and reviewing and some i have already reviewed and the TS101 is my second choice at this time. either way you will be happy adding it to your go-bag and they can be powered by barrel jack laptop PSU's as well as usb-c reg and power delivery. Thanks
Awesome thank you so much for making this video! I have been wanting to get a new soldering iron and these seemed interesting especially for the price. Since I don't know much about soldering iron I was wondering what the difference between these two were. Since to me the 245 and 210 didn't really mean much, since I didn't know the difference before. But now I know the difference and that the 2B with the C210 tips is the better option for what I need. Thanks again for this video!
So glad it helped you. i think the HS-02B is more than enough for micro to small soldering jobs as well as jobs like soldering the pin headers on Arduinos and such. i don't see where you would have much trouble until stuff like ground connections or any connection that has a lot of metal to heat up for a proper solder joint. I also believe you can bump up the power to meet even larger jobs because the larger the metal contact the faster the heat will wick away. so i see the HS-02B as a very versatile iron for a lot of day to day soldering. I'll be doing a real life soldering comparison video, with these two and maybe the ts101 and another off brand i like to see how well they actually solder in real life so be on the lookout for it in the next few weeks. Thanks again for the comment
Thanks for the overview and comparison! You have a very pleasant voice and way of speaking and you can explain well. Personally, I do prefer a more condensed presentation style though. The same information could have been conveyed in a fraction of the time. Consider tightening your videos up a bit with a more streamlined script and/or stricter adherence to it, but don't rush it either, that would surely take away from the pleasantness. 😉
Thank you very much for your feedback. it is refreshing to get positive and constructive feedback. You are so right, i have been trying to stay on point but keep wondering off in one direction or the other. I believe i will start with a script as you would never believe how much hits the floor in editing. this video was between 1 to 2 hours of video. I have been working on 3 minute versions of all my regular videos and they should be dropping once a week for a while to come just getting caught up. anyway thanks and i will work on a shorter to the point videos in the future. Thank you. };)
Great video! And you posted it just when I started looking for a comparison between the two; this video’s definitely helpful! I’m still not sure which of these two I will purchase, but I am leaning toward the HS-02b. Would you say the HS-02B would be fine as a standalone soldiering iron? Or for general purpose soldiering, would you say the A would be better? The longer cooldown time of the A and the shorter tip length of the B for more precision makes the B seem quite tempting!
I think both are great. i first got the HS-02B because the bulk of my soldering is small or micro and it will do great for this but will suffer on big stuff as the smaller tips will cool fast. the HS-02A is great for anything a standard iron will do and will take the place of my soldering station as the tips have more mass than it does and will work much better. So it really comes down to what you do most. I would have to measure but i think the A is a inch or so longer. I would say the HS-02B would be fine for surface mount stuff as well as soldering headers on Arduinos (for example) or any general purpose soldering of that size. If you are not going to do any surface mount stuff but mainly standard size components the A would be fine . I do both so i opted for both irons. i got them both for less than the cost of my Miniware TS101. I'll be doing a comparasin of all of the irons i have hopfully this month.
The HS02A is a great all around iron and would be my default recommendation for large to medium/small component but if you want to do surface mount stuff i have to say go with the HS02B as the tips are tiny and can handle even the itty bitty stuff. Its the main reason i got both. I started with the 02B and it will handle up to say, soldering the header pins on a Arduino or maybe a little bigger. But to fill the daily larger component needs i say 02A. Hope this helps. Im hoping to do a soldering comparison video this weekend because of how much interest there is in these irons ill probably boost it in the video Q to drop next week. Ill be comparing both irons ability to solder and desolder all size components.
@@TTMEable but something that i notice while ordering is that the 6 tips that came with the A version includes a smaller one as the smallest one of the 3 tips for the B version. so i ordered the A one with 6 tips for 52,99€ i hope its a good choice
Yes i believe you have made a great choice. I knew there where smaller tip for the 02A but im at work and couldn’t research how small they go. The 02A and 02B are the same size. The tips are the difference in the two. The 02A has much more mass to heat up but both irons still heat very fast, faster than my station and why i put the station in storage. The tips seem more robust for the 02A. I really dont think you will go wrong with the 02A especially with the tip assortment. I have limited tips for each iron but hope to make a comprehensive comparison soldering comparison between the two in this weekends video.
@@osvaldonobuo3663 they should fit. The tip in the HS02A in the video was from temu but it did say it was a JBC C245 and it fit and worked. Hope this helps.
Glad to hear it. I find the iron to be a good product but have no long term use with it to say how it will hold up to daily usage. how long have you been using this iron?
@@TTMEable I've been using it as my main soldering station/iron since the beginning of July. So far, so good. The only issue I've noticed is that it draws MORE than 5A (over 110W according to my POWER-Z KM003C) when supplied with 20V, which causes most of my chargers to shut down due to their overcurrent protection. However, this issue is very sporadic; sometimes it works normally, and other times it doesn’t. Very weird, to be honest.
I haven't seen this yet. i wonder if it's isolated or a defect in all irons. have you used it with a standard laptop psu? i wonder if it will have the same issue.
Sorry No, The HS-02A uses a larger diameter tip, a C245 style tip. The HS-02B uses a smaller diameter tip, a C210 style tip. The C210 tip is about half the size of the C245. I cam measure the major diameter of each if you would like.
@@TTMEable from the video the base of the tip seems to be the same. The hot end side of the tip it’s not but the base, at the contact zone, looks the same. Thats why I assume interchangeability
Yes, they look exactly alike and from what i can tell from holding them side by side they appear to be exact except the c245 is proportionally larger in every way. If you would like i can get my caliper and give you a comparison of dimensions?
@@raututeodor5625 likely. But when i get home today ill try them just to see for sure. Im just assuming incompatibility due to larger diameter of the c245 tip. It may be spring loaded and the smaller c210 tips could work in the hs-02a. Ill let you know.
Sorry to hear that. i have done a review on some rechargeable irons. should have dropped by now. may even be one of the giveaway irons. anyway the biggest issue i saw with it was a very long heat up time. i think due to the reduced voltage and current. i would also be concerned about battery life with a current draw like a iron. check out my review play list. if need be a can make a video on it and compare it to any of the other irons i have. see the mailbag videos to see the review irons i have. hope this helps in some way.
