This is (for me...) when Manson started getting interesting again, might not be the majority of people's opinions (mine seldom are...) but Tim's sound and songwriting really adds so much. I'm glad is on his own though... Manson will still sell tons more, no matter the quality but it doesn't hold up, I don't think. When artists get too big, too famous they tend to all turn into LadyGaGaSatanicBullshitPropaganda and get destroyed by the machine. Manson's most interesting thing was always the musicians around him. the current ones don't interest me much and the songs don't either. John5's solo stuff and SKoLd's do much more...
Compare this to his performance in the late 90’s when he did the beautiful people at the MTV music awards, that’s one of his best songs if not his best an he had a dead crowd, this song is much more laid back and the crowd goes wild, did he just grow or what?
That and also Eat Me Drink Me was a lot more mainstream sounding than Antichrist Superstar. It also wasn't political. It's hard to have a problem with rock songs about love and sadness. Pretty standard. BTW I saw that mtv performance and it was intense. I think the crowd was dumbfounded. Wasn't what they were expecting. Including Chris Rock.

During the Eat Me Drink Me era Manson used to embellish way too much his vocals, without giving enough fucks to sing in tune for most of the songs. Call it experimentation, but the final result was not as good
@@biezom5042 Well he ain’t lying on a bed here. These are the heavy coke and absinthe addiction days, combine that with the way he used to sing he fucking destroyed his own voice. He still sounds great on record and the odd good live performance tho.
Collectively it isn't as good. But he's made a pretty good resurgence in the last 5 years (Thank you Mr. Bates). It's hard to have music succeed when the frontman whose known for yelling in much of his songs can't yell anymore. It's like if Britney Spears couldn't autotune anymore.
