I am a newly retired Landscape Designer. I am enjoying going through each episode and appreciating the vision, design and thought that you put into every project. Even though I might have designed hundreds of urban gardens…I am seeing something new with each project. I am inspired!
Wait, what? I like cottage gardens, not modern, but I love this. Loved the river and the boardwalk and so many plants! Completely suited the lady's personality.
Love gardening show so having a blast with this series. Lots of negativity in the comments. A pity since few clients have the budget or patience to live through a six month landscape project of this scope and complexity, with the additional intrusion of a film crew. From the show it seems many of her plants were saved through replanting or as bulbs that may not have been in flower at the end of the project when the reveal was filmed. The landscape design was to her clearly modern taste and fit perfectly with her home's aesthetic. I love cottage gardens and this was a superb way to combine that sensibility with contemporary lines and materials.
This was a very different video of what I'm used to see, however it shows that not everything goes as planned and not always you'll see people with a smile painted on their faces just for the show, that is just real life. The design is very modern, goes well with the design and decoration of what we could see of her home. At first with the reveal I was like, "it looks so bare" but then I realized this was a kind of freshly planted garden, it needs time to get to it's full growth. Hope they could do a follow up and show it in full bloom :)
Looks great, I just wonder what will happen when the weeds start to grow through the cat-walk and the stream is going to turn green with algae. It will be loads of work or way less impressive then.
I think a lot of people might worry about those issues but this design will hold its own. First, it doesn’t take much to maintain a smaller space. What make it easy is the casual, natural feel of the plant materials. If one particular plant is a problem down the road, remove it. As for the algae…this garden is in a shadier location so algae is less of a problem in full screaming sun. That said, there are several really good organic algae reducers. The one thing that they didn’t talk about was how much the birds will adore the babbling brook, with rocks to stand on. There is something special about watching a hummingbird splashing in the water. This shallow water feature is just what they like. Great questions!
Yes .... I scrolled through to see if anyone else noticed her accent. I thought maybe she grew up in Zim - with somewhat more 'english' English accent than eg. KZN English ....
Very beautiful modern and urban design! Awesome transformation! These wonderful professionals know what they are doing! I absolutely love what he said about not compromising what we want! And the wise and creative and respectful designer will listen his/her client and make it happen!!!! ❤️👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I love sharing this episode. Love the meral wakjway and olants under it. Love the water feature...fountain, babbling brook and pool at back. I would wander and read books in this space.😍😍😍
This under bridge garden does not seem easy to get to and take care of. No steps down, room to walk around is minimal, though when in bloom, oh my gosh, I can actually breathe the plant aroma.
It's amazing in result. But I think most of the success is due to customer's allowing designers to do what they thought it'd work. They put all elements into that drab piece of land, water, metal, wood, stone. That's what made the final result so balanced and gorgeous.
It's beautiful but I wonder about the practicality. There are no steps down into the garden from the walkway so how does Margaret maintain the plants or pick up something that may drop down there?
It appears to be about a 12 inch drop from the walkway to the ground. I’m sure if she can manage the steps down to the deck, she can manage the step down from the walkway to the ground. If it still seems like too far to step down, she could sit on the walkway, hang her feet over, and just stand up.
love the design, something that feels like a garden within extremely large portions. Its almost stately. Great job, real talented teams! Client is so South African! Woop woop, Cape Town!
I love it. There may not have been much in the way of appeal to wildlife but the water feature will attract (thirsty) birds. I didn't notice anything in place to reduce the risk of weeds taking root i.e. a membrane, but perhaps Margaret wasn't overly concerned about this. Overall I'd be happy to own such a space.
Looks fantastic, until you have to do the weeding under the walkway. Garden designers should be compelled to do a minimum of 5 years garden maintenance. I speak from experience,
Absolutely beautiful so well thought out wonderful use of different plant material great client great garden design.!!Now what to do with a square ??? Please !!!I love plants....when I run out of room I plant them in path ways😳there's more plantaholics out there helps us😂
OMG. This is ingenious! I’m an interior designer and worked on many a $$$ project with carte blanche gardens, pools, etc. This design is truly noteworthy! VERY well done boys! Are you in U.K. or U.S?

Love it!!! And Margaret is a South African lady too 🥰🥰

Wow! I have never been a fan of modern gardens, but this one takes the cake. Adore the rusted metal water feature, as well as the concrete block!
Love gardening show so having a blast with this series.

That metal walkway is genius for the home garden.
until you need to pull weeds down there
Would love to see this garden 3 years later when the greenscape fills in. Proportionally the lushness will play off nicely with the hardscaping.
Well if you can see past the video box on the end credits you'll notice that the date on it is 2008.
@@animeangel1983 well how is that relevant to wanting to see what the garden has become after x years?

Wow! The team turned that crazy eyesore of a backyard (It made me feel tense just looking at it!) and they transformed it into a gorgeous retreat!
This backyard turned out so beautiful. Love it.
My absolute favorite. Love the juxtaposition between nature and man made.
Money money money, look what it can buy, I would love something like this x

The vision for this space is absolutely amazing.
This is an incredibly creative solution for this backyard! WOW!!!!
I'm addicted to this channel
Me too! I like how they’re quick and to the point, just a little bit of drama to show the challenges of real construction projects.
Me too.. I love their ideas.. 💜
Mais um título para a gente
Absolutely stunning! The best I’ve ever seen. Lucky, lucky Margaret!
I like the design in this one, the water feature takes it to a new level of awsome.

Love that walkway and ‘modern river’.
It turned out really great in the end.. but so slow and unorganized.. Margaret sounds like she's from South Africa

exactly my thoughts, what about the weed under the grid
As I see everywhere, creativity and design are not always about sustainability or practicality, but about new ideas and good looks :)

Yes, it is the best design!! Wonderful . Bali
So what happened with all the beautiful tulips and daffodils
Looks great, but I wonder how you'd get at area beneath catwalk when plants below require upkeep/maintenance?
You could just step off the walkway and get to them, maybe need a little stepladder.
Know how the gardener come from the side of the house ha ha Ha
This is the first vdo of yours I came across and I'm really amazed of this marvel. 👍⭐️
Awesome!
