Randy walks us through his preferred gloves for the range, as well as while he was operating. What gloves are y'all rocking these days?

I’m glad someone found a use for mechanix gloves. I’m a mechanic, and despite what the name implies they are useless in my profession.

Always found they fall apart as soon as you get oil/lube on them.

For real. Especially during tire season, they fall apart on the first shift.

They have definitely been adopted by the military and cops haha I can't seem to make mine last in my shop either.

I was still serving when the Mechanix glove craze started. People saw SEALs using them on news pics etc and the race to Walmart was on... Don't get me wrong, I understand the good aspects of them etc. But we started seeing young Ptes sporting them all serious-like... Like a badge of honour of some sort. More often than not, the gloves they got were the cheapest available with the Mechanix writing very very noticeable across the back - usually 2 contrasting colours. Just struck me as being kinda silly-looking. Like the guys who get all cammed up then leave their giant red and white Canada flags on their shoulders. I was always saying, "hey, guys... it's velcro... just put it in your pocket. Or, if you'd been deployed, use the subdues IR one from Afg..."
It made me think of life in the battalion immediately after the release of the film Platoon (87?). Suddenly every one felt compelled to wear 'do rags made of triangular bandages... 🙄

Can a person who has a short Achilles tendon, but has a good height and body, join the Canadian army?

Outdoor Research Overlord gloves last a long time. Not as dexterous but very durable.
