  • Mercedes-Benz A Class (2018/2019): Active Parking Assist with Parktronic assists the driver when searching for a parking space and when entering or leaving parallel or end-on parking spaces. In the case of end-on parking spaces it is active in both forward and reverse direction. It manoeuvres the vehicle into the selected parking space and back out again. In the process, acceleration, braking and gear-changing is automatic if the 7G-DCT dual clutch transmission is installed.

    Parking assistance is very nice while you are "learning to know" your new car. Once you have been using the assistants 3-5 times, you know the measurements of your car pretty good and may park a lot quicker than the car itself.

      From my experience with the 2018 version of park assist, the car needs far more space than the 2016 version. If it doesn't like the space, no "P" within the block appears. Not very good. I have spent countless occasions going backwards and forwards by spaces big enough for the car to fit in, waiting for the info to appear on the screen (I eventually did it manually) which on a main road is not fun, or safe. Back to the drawing board. When I returned to the dealer, even the salesman said he didn't use it.

    • @ashtonkee5868
      @ashtonkee5868 5 лет назад +1

      Mark Lyttleton nothing beats the good ‘ol manual parallel parking training. I fear one day humans will use less and less of their faculties and devolve further.

    • @marklola12
      @marklola12 5 лет назад +1

      exactly what I thought, though more likely the car or cars behind you would have had to stop and be covering your parking spot so you would end up looking like a fool who has stopped in the road for nothing and then have to drive on

    • @eazy1437
      @eazy1437 4 года назад

      Ashton Kee one day ? Wake up ! Cars will drive fully autonomous within the next 10-15 years, manual control will be dead soon, driving a car is not defining mankind and our ability, its just another activity like sports as if you do it often you will just get better, some people like to park themselves and some love to use the assistant...

    Hello, I have a question to rear parking manouver. I saw that you came "from rigth to left side" but as you wanted to leave the parking the car has automaticly turned left so in the opposite direction "from right to left side". So is it possible to choose in which direction the car will leave the parking?

    • @Retrox1989
      @Retrox1989 5 лет назад +1

      You put your indicator on which direction you want to leave.

    Holy shit look at that parking at 03:30, he really did it on its own, this tech is really craz nowadays, I would never expect it to park it in this tiny gap...

    • @vindicator05
      @vindicator05 Год назад

      I can tell you that it feels even more weird than it looks, when you try this for the very first time. It takes A LOT of bravery to "let go" because the car actually rushes into the gap sometimes :)

      The driver side is on the left, so if only the driver gets in the car, no one will touch the a class. But I agree, it's still a cramped space and wouldn't leave my car there either

    Mine doesn't work every time, not sure why. Are there certain cases when it does not find parking spaces even if there are some around?

    • @1001cars
      @1001cars  6 месяцев назад

      Yes, the space should be wide enough. Sometimes such system cannot detect properly the parking slot due to e.g. visibility

  • @marklola12
    @marklola12 5 лет назад +1

    would be good BUT there's a major issue...the fact that for both parallel parking the other parking when the car finds the space and tells you to stop....the car is stopping way way too far after the space lol
    the only way you could use it is if your on a road with no traffic or other cars behind you because there is so much space behind the car that other cars would be stopping behind you covering that parking spot lol
    you don't need that much space when you do it yourself so the car shouldn't

      If you are an average driver, you really don't need the parking assistant. It's only useful when you are learning your new car.
      Still quite impressing tech, though. Just imagine a world of self-parking cars. That would be quite a lot of space spared. PLUS I am waiting for the moment I can speak into my clock: "KITT, c'mere!" - and I'll be fetched right by my own car right on the doorstep🤣
