The opening riff in "There are no saviours" fucking R I P S
God the drumming in that track is also beyond spectacular
I guessed which track you meant without scrolling up. It was obvious!
Not to mention the fucking CRUSHING melodic outro from 20:07
This drumming is absolutely mind-blowing!!!
Yep, and he is still getting better at not overplaying like he did some times on older albums. Beast"!
pretty sure the music is based around the drum parts
@@alexpickle2413 probably but also the guitars in songs like the Destroyers of all.vermis.Soulesness Embrace
Joe Stone Yeah, great great drummer (seen live) but I think that snare is a bit loud in the mix. Makes blast beats nearly unbearable. Of Fracture and Failure is still my fave album from them, despite vocals. 🤷🏻♂️
The hypnotic qualities of this album never cease to amaze me, no matter how many times i come back.
Absolute necessary favorite extreme music band!!!!....also i'll never believe the outro riff of CHASM OF FIRE is played by human beings like me!!!....That tapping scale is so original fuck!!!
I noticed this myself listening to the album in my car on the way to work this past week. I don't have much time so normally I'll listen to a song or two then switch to a different band for variety. Before I knew it, I had spent the entire commute there and 10 minutes more in the parking lot listening strictly to this album.
Holy fuck I thought I'm the only one who noticed it. Thanks for saying it out loud. Fell into trance/sleep to it on public transport so many times!
Alright, I've been into Ulcerate since about a month after Everything is Fire released, and I can say without a doubt that this is their Magnum Opus. Shrines Of Paralysis is flawlessly executed extreme metal.
Mitchell C. The way their music has evolved is hard to describe, virtuously executed since its beginnings and yet capable of improving itself.
Funny thing, when i watched this band live at Brutal Assault, the biggest storm was coming in on the sky as they started playing. That was no shit - the biggest black cloud coming closer and closer on the sky. Metal as fuck tbh
I've been there also. Nice memories. :)
A black stormy cloud approaching os probably the best physical representstion of Ulcerate's music
Brutal Assault 2017? 🙂
@@milanmarkovic5631 yep indeed
What I like most about this is the fact that this video/album gathered an incredibly civil comment section. Props to the tech death/post metal/ whatever community for being awesome.
Most of Ulcerate´s fanbase is civilized, otherwise, with all due respect, it would be hard to understand their music.
This requires, somehow, a certain amount of intelligence and musical intellect to apreciate this as something more than what an average person, not familiar with the genre, would call "noise"
+Jesus Contreras I'm sick of douchebags like you that think they're smarter just because they listen to a certain type of music.
kennyalwaysdies well, music appreciation is basically pattern recognition, which definitely coorelates with intelligence to some degree
kennyalwaysdies try to please a douchbag who thinks old school is the real metal with this ....sounds barely right!!
@@savantpoland1875 Definitely disagree. In my experience, I've met really nice people with awful musical tastes (to me) and some other ones really educated about understanding music, but utterly idiots in their own life. BTW Ulcerate are awesome.
Everytime I listen to this I gotta re-wire my ego to accept the fact it was written by living breathing human beings just like me. You know, like how could they?! Makes me jealous AF
Jamie is not human
Mas é mesmo! Vi-os no RCA a abrir para Mgła e só tenho pena que não tenha sido o contrário. Não que Mgła seja mau, mas ao lado de Ulcerate...
you can write better bro
Killer album, dense, dissonant and brutal the way that I like. One of the best metal bands in these days.
ⵓⵅⵀⵓⵥ
"end of hope" is my song of the year for 2016.
Everyone talked about how great yield to naught or extinguished light are but to me THERE ARE NO SAVIOURS and CHASM OF FIRE total masterpiece unbelievable songwriting!!!incredible contrapuntual riffs twist an turns fuck!!!
Chasm of Fire is one of the best songs in their entire discography
ⵢⵍⵍⴰ ⵜⴰⵍⵍⵉⵜ
One of the all time great albums!
So good that I developed an ulcer while listening. I do original jokes, thank you.
Did the ulcer eat you? That could be a new dictionary term. I was 'Ulcerate' ;)
Whoa. Do you want to collab with me? We'd travel the world and be unstoppable with this material.
We'd be one-trick ponies ;) I foresee rotten tomatoes coming our way in my crystal ball ;)
My ears feel like the drums in them have holes from this onslaught.
does anyone know where I can find the original album artwork?
this band is simply amazing
Damn RUclips, thanks for filling me in, I had no idea about a new Ulcerate album...
THESE GUYS BROKE MY NECK AT MESSE DES MORTES
masterpiece!

sounds like Gorguts, and that is a a very good thing
Gorguts + Immolation I'd say. Still, I don't think either push the limits of dissonance quite like this.
@@jonathanhenderson9422 would you believe if i told you this is probably their least technical? also to me with the pheltora of dissonant bands out there this particular album sounds a bit melodic. check out Coma Cluster Void for one
@@keepingitdownwiththepashas I've heard all their albums and they're all pretty technical; I think picking between them would be splitting hairs. I'm also sure there are more dissonant bands but I was just comparing them with Gorguts and Immolation.
@@jonathanhenderson9422 no album is more dissonant than Vermis (The most intimidating metal album ive heard!)also no album is more complex than Everything is fire!!!
@@jonathanhenderson9422 Dying FETUS
what a colossus of an album! ive given it about 30 spins so far and theres still more nuance to be discovered.
Personally, while the new album is out and that being extremely good and all, I think Ulcerate achieved something otherworldly with this particular album. While they were good - even original and insightful - in their craft prior to this, "Shrines of Paralysis" saw them briefly develop into a dimension characterized by something more than merely a sum of its parts. There is a certain ethereal imminence and intangible divinity injected into "Shrines of Paralysis" that sets it apart from the rest of Ulcerate's discography.
I'm quite sure this album will someday be considered a monumental achievement in the canon of progressive death metal music, progressive metal music and eventually progressive music as well. It is so ahead of its time it's ridiculous. "Shrines of Paralysis" is a clandestine trinket so precious in its utterly destructive capability and fervent urge for reformation that you will be transformed into a completely new, better and more infinite version of yourself. And you will not want to look back. End the Hope.
While i agree i think the mix is what detrives its magnificent compositions...Also Stare into death and be still is by far the best album easily even more otherwordly...Exhale the ash is Jaw dropping!!
100% dude.
ⵈⵢⵂⵢⵓ
Ulcerate is phenomenal - Somehow musically this to me this feels like it is about cheer burden - passionate and utterly destructive. mainly due to its massive intensity.
Imo Ulcerate have created the perfect extreme metal with their discography.
ⵓⵛⵔ
This is INTENSE. My favorite Ulcerate.
This is sort of nuts.
ⴳⵐⵜⵌⵓⵏⵎⵢⵧⵙ
Like a more extreme Immolation. I like it !
Immolation used to be just as heavy back in Close to a World Below (2000)
True
Interesting to note the similarities regardless, I love both bands so much
Jordan Failures for Gods is their best album imo, but anything from Here in after to Unholy Cult could be considered their best and I'd be ok with it.
I would say their best album is Here In After, but I also wouldn't argue if someone believed it was Dawn of Possession or Close to a World Below, all of their material is either excellent or top of the genre.
Ulcerate. Saw them live a number of times in New Zealand. Completely blew my mind every time. What else can be said?
4 years ago .....the abyss was release !!!...Still remember the very first time listening this Masterpiece... Goosepumps !!..yet their best was yet to come!!!
There Are No Saviours and Chasm of Fire are my favorites.
outstanding ! mind-blowing ! no solos yet straight and cataclismic. Hail from Morocco

Dis band never fails to impress ☆.☆
I've grown to like the mix over time and that was my only complaint with this monumental album. Easily some of the best music ever made. This is life changing stuff. I'm always humbled by what humans can achieve whenever I listen to this (ironically, given the subject matter of the lyrics). Thanks Ulcerate.
I found this album kind of unlistenable when it dropped. I got the vinyl eventually, and it sounds a ton better just due to a much quieter master. Consider downloading a vinyl rip!

Interesting - it sounds like a Deathspell Omega and Hate Eternal mix!
Cool!
I always hear Hate Eternal in their music but I've never seen someone else draw the comparison
Immolation too..three of my favorite bands
@@andrewdow6623if you listen to Ulcerate’s first demo the Immolation influence is extremely prevalent there.
Ordered immediately!
Most likely a myth but I got the CD off of Amazon.
At least 4 out of 8 songs on this album are actually masterpieces. Always pushing further and further their awesomeness. Love them. And thank you Mother Relapse. :)

Fantastic album!
So good
What is really amazing is that this and Gorguts' "Pleiades' Dust" came out the same year, yet they sound so similar.
Best album of 2016 !
hell yes, a new album!
seeing this live in Melbourne was fucking phenomenal. it produced a really physical reaction!
This is the one done b4 Stare Into Death & Be Still. Which btw is PHENOMENAL!
In the dark, volume up, this BURSTED my mind. Best of 2016 so far

Epic speed and complexity!
Beautiful album! Nice surprise
I saw them yesterday real live MONSTER .Just amazing.Hail from Poland.
ALBUM OF THE YEAR
49:53 End The Hope, not a world class, this is fucking universe class
Since old school Morbid Angel, nothing was good enough. Took me 2020 to finally find something that makes me enjoy Death Metal again. Truly an ocean of garbage music out there. Thanks Ulcerate.
Check out Convulsing.
@@morbidangel47 Listen to Ad Nauseam
@@morbidangel47I know I'm 4 years late to this comment, but wanted to point out your avatar. Fucking Gorrch. That ep is some of the best shit I've ever heard. Track IV brings me to tears and makes me feel like I'm trippin, every time. Managed to get one of the last gold vinyls. You have good taste, friend. I'd have to assume you've heard the new Convulsing?
Insanely good
Perfection!
amazing!!!!!
@10:53 Gets me every-single-time. @11:47 Beautiful.
Literally chokes me up listening to that. This transcends death metal.
their apex of the most twisted death metal mastery! true freaks of delivering the most intense death metal way with a deep meaning of universal chaos
Tremendo
good candidate for a soundtrack for the end of the universe.
The only time i saw Ulcerate was at the Civic in Christchurch opening for Deicide., this was years ago but they were still sick. Remember buying 'The coming of Genocide' and the hoodie, wish i still had that CD now!
A few days before I see you live!
Brilliant!!! They've outdone themselves...
TOP JOB ULCERATE!!!!! Kudos and Hails!!!!!!!

Seen this album on the RELAPSE records website and thought I'd give it a go. Dunno if I like it yet or not, might take a few listens. I was all mad about death metal 20+ years ago but I must have got older. Mind you, the new Obituary album I absolutely love.
I really don't get why so many people are complaining about the mix. It sounds absolutely powerful and I love it.
Tim_Sean I would want to hear the guitars more but the drums dominate the mixing
Fucking incredible.
my new favorite album to square dance to
Id love to see some big booty bitches twerking to this.
This is fucking amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dissonant, devastating, destructive of light.
Fucking. Phenomenal.
the best technical death metal !
can't wait to hear this, Everything is Fire and Destroyers of All weren't just albums that I loved, they were the #1 soundtracks to eras in my life. Then Vermis, and I just couldn't grab onto anything after the opening 2 tracks. But the reviews I've read of this album are all glowing, they're back to dissonance as structure a la Immolation (but taken to a higher level and with FAR better drumming) rather than the dissonance as formlessness from Vermis
JParks1981 Vermis took a few listens for me to enjoy it. Though I will say I enjoyed the 2nd half of the album more than the first.
Vermis took me a good 2 months to finally click and find riffs that fucked up my mind... ahhh thats why i keep coming back
Logan Harris is easily their most "hard" per se (if you could say that for this monsters!!)vermis i think is underrated for that very reason!!!is unbelievable scary
@@isaacdissonance3967 from the last 3 albums Vermis was the weirdest album
It's very hard to get into
There's a lot of great moments but it's almost directionless
Totally different experience
Amazing album.
39:48 coolest riff ever!!!!
Reminds me of Decapitated - 404.
waouuu
someone said my music sounds like yours
Jesus shit, this is good. Best band on the planet.

👍👍
Some of the best death metal alongside Death
Holy Bumboogh!
yeah this is kind of heavy
I discovered this band on Spotify by listening to Deathspell Omega's 'radio'. So glad I did that!
NoEvDia has DsO, Relapse has Ulcerate.
You mean Deathspell Omega has Norma Evangelium.
and Season of Mist has the greatest: Gorguts.
Awesome stuff nonetheless, incredible album.
Check also Nero Di Marte band.
Waow! this is like Immolation in roids.

Wooww!! These dudes are the gods of darkness!! I'm so pissed off that my best friend Aaron Ainslie passed away before I could introduce him to ulcerate, nasty metal motherfuckers, for a metal junkie these dudes are a treat. Makes me want to start my own death metal band and growl like a demon, I have so much anger and hatred and that is the best way to deal without actually smashing another human beings face apart like mortal combat 11!
Guys... How about printing of additional copies of digipak-CD?
an interesting question from my point ow veiw:
what´s lacking in this perfect icon?
whats the missing piece?
the other way, how can I enter with a cup of nothingness...
