A year later, I appreciate this pieces a lot more than the first couple of times I listened to them. I think they are not pieces that would attract the casual listener, but when you set your mind on them, they become truly wonderful
@@fabfreebird1 idk why but the beginning of no 5 (right after the first fermata) suddenly reminded me of the last movement of Kreisleriana, albeit not quite as rhythmically complex
@@leonlinton634 omg I've got Ma Vlast 2nd Movement (Moldau) on spotify and I play it from once in a while, how did I not recognize it?!?! (I'm not too sure tho I might have heard it in a Barbie movie xD) thanks!
About the same time of this, Dvorak wrote his first symphony. The first theme in the symphony is a slower version of the theme for the Silhouettes: Listen here at 0.34 in. ruclips.net/video/3xDwLnPRTTc/видео.html Also notice that the second theme in silhouette 8 is the same theme in the third movement of the symphony. Sempre Grande Dvorak!!
This is beautiful and way ahead of its time !
I love this piece!

11:50 is clearly taken from the first symphony’s finale, such a nice theme.
First symphony ... also a very fine piece of music :-)
He did think the first symphony was lost entirely (and, well, it was until the 1900s), so I suppose he thought he might as well use the material
Well, he's smart. I recognized it immediately, because Dvorak is my favourite composer
Nádherné melodie Dvořák byl velký melodik
The closest Dvorak ever got to Janacek? No. 5 is Schumann-inspired?
this entire thing sounds like Schumann! It sounds like Dvorak is quoting Papillons and Carnaval all throughout the set.

I mean he's emulating a dotted rhythm in No. 5, which Schumann so often used.
Very nice - and curious that he has not-quite-the-same themes from the first two symphonies. A kind of nostalgia?
Does somebody know a piece that fully sounds like the first 5 seconds of the video?
Are you asking for music that sounds similar or a specific piece you recognise?
@@leonlinton634 both, I remember a piece that goes like that, it's a forgotten and lost-ish memory(?)
