@@subtrinity its funny. reading the disco elysium artbook and the devs' commentary its so obvious they love art and the entire process. seeing people wave those crucial parts away because "ai art looks nice" makes me feel so sad.

Also, this is probably pretentious, but these montages made me realize how many just plain great... *scenes* Disco Elysium had. Not just a great story, or characters, but the kind of scenes and moments that stick with you as that kind of "Hey, remember that time when--" memories. Remember when you first inspected the body? Remember when you sat on that swing with Kim waiting for the tide to recede? Remember the dice maker in the tower? DE doesn't just have great atmosphere, it has great... *moments* .
This feels like one of those internal monologues that would be in harry's head. Thus i shall imagine having this be read in the narrators voice.
Remember when you finally unlocked that dammed blue door?
When you first entered the church?
When you first woke up?
When the world came crashing down into a 2mm hole?
When you turned on Kim’s radio?
When you were first called tequila?
When you first sat in the worlds deadliest chair?
When you connected the dots?
Or when you had your first conversation with a strange woman renting the room 2 doors on your left?
Because I do. And if you experienced them as well: I bet you remember them too.

As incredible as the writing and art is, DE wouldn’t be half of what it is without the involvement of Sea Power. Both the OST, the inspirations, the cool references to their songs… and general vibe. The game is flooded sprinkled with their influence, and they have a much more important role than just incredible musical artists… They’ve set the tone. As in, the writing is definitely inspired by the vibes of their songs.

@@MojoRisingTV how so, we know DE was MORE than inspired by Sea Power. I am not saying that DE isn’t a masterpiece, quite the opposite - everything in this experience is supporting each other, like an arch. If one thing goes missing, it all falls apart imo. Which is true for almost all masterpieces. I’ve recently played Outer Wilds, another masterpiece imo, and that game, just like DE, wouldn’t have been half of what it was without Andrew Pharlow’s music. Skyrim too btw, by far not a masterpiece but a very nostalgic game for many and ultra successful like it or not, and probably some of the strongest memories attached to that game are it’s music.
You need to evaluate a piece of media from all it’s angles and consider all of it’s pieces. SP didn’t just make the OST for DE, they also set the tone and a lot of the themes. The original creators were fans of their work for a while, and the game is choke full of references and ideas that feel like they are SET inside a Sew Power song.

A one time wonder and with the current situation maybe we need to make peace with that fact.
Yeah.. but maybe? Someday someone will make something really inspired, not just one of those DE clones that tries to replicate the style, but something new. Something new that couldn’t have existed without DE happening first, but it’ll be completely different and amazing in a unique way.. maybe it already exists and we don’t know about it yet. Who jnows

Players falling into the boots of the detective and straight from the beginning you are facing same questions as the character, with quite convincing reasonings.
It still fits you in there. The fool who really has no idea what to do.

I think about everything happening with this game in the real world. How we'll probably never experience more of it, at least more of what the first game was.
But i look at both of their faces and i feel okay again, even if never seeing more of them feels like never seeing them again.
Before Disco Elysium, I was very cynical about the RPG genre, partly because I had the preconceived notion that games with heavy story couldn't really provide as meaningful gameplay as something more sandbox orientated, where you have more freedom --Yes I play Morrowind how could you tell?--
Then I played Disco Elysium and I realized how wrong I was. This game is Great with a capital G.
Where games like morrowind cast their nets wide, DE casts its net deep.

I listen to Sea Power, like, all the time now. Thanks to Disco Elysium, I discovered them. My most favorite song ever is Remarkable Diving Feat, but whole album it's from is great. I don't know why, really, I just love listening to that song. It's like Waving Flags, but like you are standing on the deck of a flying ship above the clouds and feeling the breeze on your face.
Upd: I've rewatched this video for like 100 times now. I am legit sure a significant % of views comes from me.

Just finished the game. Didn't expect this to bring me to tears. Just beautiful, seeing people put their love into this project.
I love that the artists names are actually on their pictures in the video so we can actually know who did what, makes me very happy :) I'm always pleasantly surprised seeing a few familiar names out in the wild as well!

I just finished Disco about three days ago. Such an amazing experience... The music definitely helped set the atmosphere... Very hard core.
I look at the fanart that DE inspired and think damn i wanna draw too. Like go through the process and all idk. AI will never feel this want to connect to a community through art the way we do

Finished today my first run, what an experience
It is undoubtedly one of my favourite games ever, writing, world building, ambience etc. are all mindblowing, I miss it so much already
I find that there isn't that much info about Disco Elysium on the web somehow. So a lot of (especially smaller details) are just left unknown. I'm on my second playthrough and it feels like I'm still getting only a narrow part of everything there is to learn about characters and the world. In the end everyone ends up having their own totally unique experience. Its incredible how you can write something like that
I can't believe my friend was like,all day talking about this game,I got to know Sea Power for the trailer on the E3 that showed the Definitive edition,when I finally got the chance to play it,I understood what that was all about

Lost a family member shortly after completing the story of this game.
His body betrayed his degeneracy, a bloated slave to the ghoul, with almost no future left.
But despite that he overpowered his demons, reclaimed his dignity, found love and happyness from the brink of oblivion and then dies of a fucking heart attack.
This game, its writing literature, philosophy and experience is genuine and literally the most cathartic experience i'v ever had in my life, and it was accidental.
Rest in Peace Gregory, i guess.... off you go into the wild pale yonder.

Sea Power's impact on this game hits the same as Jesper Kyd's music did for me in the Hitman series or even the Darksiders games. It's incredible what a difference these experiences are without emotionally powerful music to underline their stories.

Fuck, sea power made some really special shit with this. Like this is audio art. The voice actors and writers brought life to the characters and all of elysium, but sea power brought a voice to the world.
