    Yu can use wire mesh with a bedsheet and make boulders for your yard. I have 3 giant boulders that look real and only weigh a hundred pounds. Real ones that size would be a ton or more. Make the shape with wire mesh. Wrap with cotton bedsheet. The cheaper the better. Smear with concrete mix. Mine are mostly white, gray, with black streaks which looks like a marble stone. The top layer i used a wall mortar mix which sticks better.

      I bet they look great. There is so much you can do with concrete. And yes, I've seen videos on making large boulders and would love to try.

    If I followed the first method but wanted to add pieces of glass ( smoothed of course ) suggestions please and thank you .

    • @inursparetime3790
      @inursparetime3790  Год назад

      What I would do is keep tapping and smoothing the surface, which helps bring the water to the surface and settles the larger aggregates deep into the stone. Then I would add the glass to the surface troweling them into the top layer of concrete. Let concrete set awhile (firm up) then rinse surface with water while lightly wiping or brushing away top thin layer of cement exposing the glass. Hope this helped. Thanks for asking.

      Remember to add water to surface if need be, cause you need a "moist surface" for this to work. Do Not flood it!

    What do you recommend for coloring?

    • @inursparetime3790
      @inursparetime3790  Год назад +2

      What I used was Sakrete cement color, but there are many ways to color concrete. You can use paints, concrete stains and Quikrete liquid cement color to name a few.

    Bet the hardest messiest part was stirring the concrete with water..kind of needed to see that step happen inside a flexible strip of molding. Just who hard or easy was that? I’m an older gal and need to know what I’m facing.

    • @inursparetime3790
      @inursparetime3790  Год назад +3

      Hi Kleenmary, Mixing in the form was not the hard part, it was picking up a 60lb bag and cutting it and pour into the form. ( heavy and dusty ) With the right amount of water a light mixing with a trowel is all you need to do. That's easy. Thanks!

      Well wouldn't you still need to be specific pouring in the water, evenly@@inursparetime3790

    What is the proper base under the stones? in Ur SPare time?

    • @inursparetime3790
      @inursparetime3790  Год назад

      Sand. Living in Florida, the ground under the stones is a sand base. You don't need to prep the area with a base layer, a solid soil surface works as well. The stones will not crack.

      Hi, These stones are 6 years old and haven't cracked or settled. I've made stones that are over 20 years ago and are still in good shape and no crackes. They'll last forever! Thanks for asking.
