Frank is always a knowledgeable interview. I wonder if Severin will offer for sale the extra bonus disc for those who purchased from Amazon? I ordered on Amazon.
Thanks for checking out the conversation! I didn’t ask Frank about that specifically this time, but Michael Worth did mention in his most recent Clones Cast episode which covered the boxset that the two movies on the bonus disc may well get a standalone release sometime in the future.
@@TheFanaticalDragon I hope so. That will be great if they do. Classic Flix offered the bonus disc from the Little Rascals boxset for sale if you bought the individual discs instead of the boxset.
Great interview, I got my box set the other day. I remember my first attempt at buying some Bruce Lee I bought a double feature of two Bruce Lee 'Legend' movies which was Fist of Fury 2 and Bruce Lee Fights back from the Grave. I didn't know any better in 1990 or whenever it was :) I've only watched half the documentary so far so maybe it is explained or in the book but when and who coined the term Bruceploitation? I feel like it's a recent term and not from the time these were being made.
Thanks Simon! I hope you enjoy the boxset! Also great question! I’m not sure when the term Brucesploitation was first coined and by whom! But I know a man who will definitely know and I’ll ask him!
There is a bit of irony to what Bruce Lee had once commented in an interview, about HK cinema lacking originality and always trying to copy someone’s style and mannerisms instead of being original. Well, after his death and surly enough, we get flooded with the Brucploitation and all these clones coming out of the woodworks like Bruce Le, Bruce Li, Bruce LA-LY-LOs that I witnessed growing up in the 70s😆
That's a good point well made, in the more creative examples of the sub-genre we could maybe say imitation was a genuinely sincere form of adoring flattery but some of the more egregious examples there was definitely a sense of wanting to just cash in and keep the Bruce Lee money train on the tracks long after his passing. It's a truly fascinating period of HK and Taiwanese cinema though, with some really, actual great movies in amongst the wave - Enter The Fat Dragon , Dynamo, Soul Brothers of Kung Fu, Enter the Game Of Death, Bruce's Deadly Fingers and Fist of Fury 2 are all films I absolutely adore.
Always a pleasure to hear from Frank again.
I watched the doc today - very well made and nice to hear Frank’s BTS stories!
Fantastic interview with Frank! I love his commentary.
Great interview . Love Frank. The boxset is amazing
This is a fantastic interview and thank you to absolutely everyone involved from the host and obviously djeng brilliant
Thank you my friend and Frank. 🤩
Great interview, love Frank, really squeezing pennies so I can hopefully get set soon
With the number of commentary tracks I have played in last two years, my neighbors think Frank is living in my house
lol, If you say his name out loud while his tracks are playing three times, he shows up at your doorstep.
@@TheFanaticalDragon there's no place like home!
I would suggest to feature Game of Death 2 in the next documentaries. That would be perfect for the second release.
