I felt this video on a whole different level because I’m somewhat going through a similar thing and it saddens me how often this occurs for content creators across this platform. It truly does suck man, and i’m sorry that this is what you’re going through (or went through cus im now 8 months late). I read something that really stuck with me and it goes along the lines of “don’t forget the YOU in RUclips”. And that couldn’t be so close to the truth, as content creators we tend to get so caught up in the numbers and who’s watching or like how can we get more views, how can I get people to click on this video, how can I get into the algorithm blah blah blah, that we forget to take in consideration what it is that we truly want to make. It’s a very tricky thing because it’s so easy to slip into the mindset that you have follow the “rules” of youtube in order to see some type of success, especially nowadays since everyone knows that it’s possible to make a good living through RUclips so it seems like everyone is stressing themselves and making themselves crazy because they want to make it. What i’m beginning to realize is that we also gotta take care of our mental health and sanity, whether if it’s by taking breaks or by creating content that we truly find interesting, entertaining, and fun to do or make. I do hope that you return to making videos again and that it’s things that you do care about and enjoy making, regardless if people care or not. Preserving your sanity is far more important than trying to force yourself to deliver for others.

It's completely understandable what you're going through and so many others have gone through the same thing! Perhaps a really stupid example but it's very relevant; I know of loads of RUclips musicians who started out doing pony music (The Living Tombstone, Mando) and though I don't know their exact reasons for changing, they moved on from that and started doing their own music or video game-themed music and still found popularity and happiness there :) wherever you go, as long as your talent's with you you'll do great for yourself ❤️ best of luck! 🌟
That's a pretty sick arcade restoration. I've had to build a few of those at my job, and they can be tedious, whether you have a riser built for it as well, but good on ya man. A raspberry pi can also hook up to the control board to have any arcade game set up.
When I started my channel almost three years ago, this is the exact thing I wanted to avoid. That, among other things, is why my channel is very small but I have no problem with that. I get to make whatever I want. The algorithm and the audiences’ exception of seeing the same content every video is what drives creators to quit. What do you want, happiness or success? Unfortunately it’s a choice that must be made. Hopefully you can find a better path soon, Bosh.
Make these videos for yourself, you've definitely earned it. I love your meme videos but I honestly love videos like this where people sit down and actually talk to the viewer about their life, youtube, their content, anything really. I don't mind what you do, do what you wanna do, post what you wanna post. Honestly you've got a superb presentation (look/camera/voice/mic/studio setup) to make video essays. I'd watch the crap out of 15 minute videos on how you restored an arcade cabinet, what games you like and WHY THEY'RE BROKEN AND TERRIBLE, and so on. Plus you'd go above and beyond for the editing thanks to your experience with making YTP edits. Subbed in hopes you do make those videos!

This is why I personally don’t plan on using YT for anything other than keeping in touch with friends and supporting creators I enjoy, some of whom are friends of mine! But I’m not planning on uploading anything to YT at all! I’m instead relying on other platforms to upload and share my content! But despite not using YT for video sharing, I do still wanna support as many creative minds as possible on here as it is one of the biggest online creative platforms! I just wish the reasons for me not uploading to it would shrink instead of grow…it seems the higher ups keep making it more harder and painful to maintain any healthy schedule! It’s like they want to push people away, but make it overly complex to do so, regardless if you are monetized, just a hobbyist who posts occasional vids, or even just a viewer, signed in or not! YT is trying to be the one stop shop for everything, which sounds great on paper, but at the same time, they make unfortunate decisions, changes, and/or miscommunicate with their users, or never communicate at all! RUclips is equal parts amazing and terrifying, as I love watching and supporting my favorite creators. Some of which, as I said, are my friends! But the platform also makes life super hard for those creators, and often the fans and audience can only do so much to help, and we never know if it’s even working! (Thankfully, things like Patreon, Ko-Fi, Kickstarter, etc. exist, and you can support the creator directly!👍) but for fans who aren’t able to pledge money, even though things like liking, commenting, and watching all the way through is a good way to support the creator, it’s not always a guaranteed way towards the algorithm picking your vid and channel to get boosted! Anyway, that’s my rant. I love supporting and watching my favorite videos and channels and creators on RUclips, and I love discovering new favorites! But I don’t like how the platform and company in general just feels so disjointed, and keeps messing with a lot of creators time and time again!!!

Man, even the top comments here don't care about the video. Bosh, I've been watching RUclips for a decade, and my best advice is to transform your content regardless of what the majority thinks. Your new style of content may get, let's say, 10k people watching on average, and you just gotta ignore what RUclips analytics says or the advice they give because all they care about is THEIR engagement. Don't be a sad sap who bends to the will of an internet monopoly or the braindead masses who think they're all cool and unique, blaze your own path. RUclips's top demographic are children and they enjoy instant satisfaction, or they leave. When millennial influences call zoomers the TikTok generation they're not kidding, it's a fact, and as a zoomer I can confirm it. Changing up your content will absolutely shock them, but your ideas should not be shackled by belligerent idiots who scream "cum" or "hoh hoh hoh hoh hoh" on the daily. If you end up merging your ideal contents with poops, you'll experience a ScrewAttack situation where the former content gets 100 views vs 500K. So I suggest strongarming your true passion until you're formally re-identified by the community. It's been a year so this comment will get glossed over HARD. Change will inevitably cost you, the lack of community engagement speaks for itself, so you can take the leap and do your own thing at a cost, or return to what you've been doing to play it safe. Is this burnout? Absolutely. But remember, changing up your content won't label you a backstabber by the community. Edit: added an 's'
I feel like when a channel has set itself on making a certain type of short and "consumable" content with a re-occuring theme/structure/formula, people start taking the videos for granted and subconsciously forget that an actual human had to spend time and effort to make them, thinking of the creator as more of an entity, especially when the content is so surreal and absurd (in a good way). It all goes down to putting yourself in front of an audience, and the relationship that results where people see the artist rather than the person, which I think all creators can relate to. But honestly, of all the same-structure-content-focused channels whose videos don't feature the creator physically, you always felt to me like one of the more humane and expressive ones. Through your comments, replies, community tabs and talk videos, you were actually a person we can interact with and I respect that. I was happy whenever I saw you try something new, and while I love your meme videos and they cheered me up everytime I saw a new one, I'm happy that you're deciding to make what you truly want. When I stumble on any meme or YTP style vid, I like to check out the original creator to see what else they make! While I love a good meme, I tend to enjoy a channel more when the creator branches out into other things, even if I tend to only enjoy one style of video they make. I show support to all things that creator does whether it’s my cup of tea or not! More often than not, I love it even more if when a creator who is known for one type of content suddenly does a full z-axis turn and hits the audience with something, or even a bunch of something’s radically different! I just discovered your channel, yes, through one of your meme vids. But I’m subscribing and turning on all notifs, because I’m interested in what other awesome content you make, past, present, and especially the future as that’s what I’m most excited for!!! The last thing I or any of us want to do is make you feel like you have to be miserable, and work on things you’re not fond of, just so you can make us happy. I can't remember exactly how long I've been watching your content, but I know I've been subbed for a long time. I know exactly the pitfall you're talking about, in getting sucked into a type of content creation and feeling trapped by it, unable to do other things. I 100% encourage you to just go with your gut. At first, you probably won't get much in terms of views from people who are already subbed, but if what you make makes you happy and you feel is compelling, then that's what you should go for. This is not only wise in terms of your channel, it's wise for you as a person which is more important in the end. You have to be happy doing something like this or it won't work. I've missed a few videos here and there, but usually when I see a video pop up in my feed, I'll go back and catch ones I've missed. While yes, I got subbed for your ytp/memes/shitposts/whatever the fuck, not only do I respect the decision, I am very curious what you have in mind as I would've loved seeing that arcade restoration vid/series! 😮I look forward to seeing this new era! 😁👌

Onestly, (regarding the "passion project" thing) i LOVED The Rift series and it kinda break my heart when you discontinued it because it seemed a really original concept and it was also a nice breath of fresh air to have an original series with plot rather than the usual chaos of your videos.

I fully understand what you mean. I’ve made tons upon tons of videos on my channel that are absolutely hilarious to me, and have a lot of effort put into them, but in the end are only viewed by me and whatever friends I send the videos to. The only videos I get high view counts on (which is usually 15-20 for me, not counting the random 1 to 2 thousand) are meme videos. That’s just how the algorithm is. It fucking sucks. Obviously my channel gets nowhere near the amount of traffic as yours, and nowhere near the amount of effort is put into my videos compared to yours, but it’s tragic how many people on this godforsaken site get no reward for their work, no matter how many hours they put into it. Keep up the work, Bosh. Don’t let this youtube stuff stress you.

I felt this video on a whole different level because I’m somewhat going through a similar thing and it saddens me how often this occurs for content creators across this platform. It truly does suck man, and i’m sorry that this is what you’re going through (or went through cus im now 8 months late). I read something that really stuck with me and it goes along the lines of “don’t forget the YOU in RUclips”. And that couldn’t be so close to the truth, as content creators we tend to get so caught up in the numbers and who’s watching or like how can we get more views, how can I get people to click on this video, how can I get into the algorithm blah blah blah, that we forget to take in consideration what it is that we truly want to make. It’s a very tricky thing because it’s so easy to slip into the mindset that you have follow the “rules” of youtube in order to see some type of success, especially nowadays since everyone knows that it’s possible to make a good living through RUclips so it seems like everyone is stressing themselves and making themselves crazy because they want to make it. What i’m beginning to realize is that we also gotta take care of our mental health and sanity, whether if it’s by taking breaks or by creating content that we truly find interesting, entertaining, and fun to do or make. I do hope that you return to making videos again and that it’s things that you do care about and enjoy making, regardless if people care or not. Preserving your sanity is far more important than trying to force yourself to deliver for others.

That's a pretty sick arcade restoration. I've had to build a few of those at my job, and they can be tedious, whether you have a riser built for it as well, but good on ya man. A raspberry pi can also hook up to the control board to have any arcade game set up.
When I started my channel almost three years ago, this is the exact thing I wanted to avoid. That, among other things, is why my channel is very small but I have no problem with that. I get to make whatever I want. The algorithm and the audiences’ exception of seeing the same content every video is what drives creators to quit. What do you want, happiness or success? Unfortunately it’s a choice that must be made. Hopefully you can find a better path soon, Bosh.

I love your meme videos but I honestly love videos like this where people sit down and actually talk to the viewer about their life, youtube, their content, anything really. I'd watch the crap out of 15 minute videos on how you restored an arcade cabinet, what games you like and WHY THEY'RE BROKEN AND TERRIBLE, and so on. This is why I personally don’t plan on using YT for anything other than keeping in touch with friends and supporting creators I enjoy, some of whom are friends of mine! But I’m not planning on uploading anything to YT at all! I’m instead relying on other platforms to upload and share my content!
But despite not using YT for video sharing, I do still wanna support as many creative minds as possible on here as it is one of the biggest online creative platforms! I just wish the reasons for me not uploading to it would shrink instead of grow…it seems the higher ups keep making it more harder and painful to maintain any healthy schedule! It’s like they want to push people away, but make it overly complex to do so, regardless if you are monetized, just a hobbyist who posts occasional vids, or even just a viewer, signed in or not! YT is trying to be the one stop shop for everything, which sounds great on paper, but at the same time, they make unfortunate decisions, changes, and/or miscommunicate with their users, or never communicate at all! RUclips is equal parts amazing and terrifying, as I love watching and supporting my favorite creators. Some of which, as I said, are my friends! But the platform also makes life super hard for those creators, and often the fans and audience can only do so much to help, and we never know if it’s even working! (Thankfully, things like Patreon, Ko-Fi, Kickstarter, etc. exist, and you can support the creator directly!👍) but for fans who aren’t able to pledge money, even though things like liking, commenting, and watching all the way through is a good way to support the creator, it’s not always a guaranteed way towards the algorithm picking your vid and channel to get boosted!
Anyway, that’s my rant. I love supporting and watching my favorite videos and channels and creators on RUclips, and I love discovering new favorites! But I don’t like how the platform and company in general just feels so disjointed, and keeps messing with a lot of creators time and time again!!!

I just looked up your channel to see what happened and I can't say I'm very surprised with the outcome. Man, even the top comments here don't care about the video. Bosh, I've been watching RUclips for a decade, and my best advice is to transform your content regardless of what the majority thinks. Your new style of content may get, let's say, 10k people watching on average, and you just gotta ignore what RUclips analytics says or the advice they give because all they care about is THEIR engagement. Don't be a sad sap who bends to the will of an internet monopoly or the braindead masses who think they're all cool and unique, blaze your own path.
RUclips's top demographic are children and they enjoy instant satisfaction, or they leave. When millennial influences call zoomers the TikTok generation they're not kidding, it's a fact, and as a zoomer I can confirm it. Changing up your content will absolutely shock them, but your ideas should not be shackled by belligerent idiots who scream "cum" or "hoh hoh hoh hoh hoh" on the daily.
If you end up merging your ideal contents with poops, you'll experience a ScrewAttack situation where the former content gets 100 views vs 500K. So I suggest strongarming your true passion until you're formally re-identified by the community.
It's been a year so this comment will get glossed over HARD. Change will inevitably cost you, the lack of community engagement speaks for itself, so you can take the leap and do your own thing at a cost, or return to what you've been doing to play it safe.
Is this burnout? Absolutely. But remember, changing up your content won't label you a backstabber by the community.

I feel like when a channel has set itself on making a certain type of short and "consumable" content with a re-occuring theme/structure/formula, people start taking the videos for granted and subconsciously forget that an actual human had to spend time and effort to make them, thinking of the creator as more of an entity, especially when the content is so surreal and absurd (in a good way). It all goes down to putting yourself in front of an audience, and the relationship that results where people see the artist rather than the person, which I think all creators can relate to.
But honestly, of all the same-structure-content-focused channels whose videos don't feature the creator physically, you always felt to me like one of the more humane and expressive ones. Through your comments, replies, community tabs and talk videos, you were actually a person we can interact with and I respect that.
I was happy whenever I saw you try something new, and while I love your meme videos and they cheered me up everytime I saw a new one, I'm happy that you're deciding to make what you truly want. Take care of yourself man.

When I stumble on any meme or YTP style vid, I like to check out the original creator to see what else they make! While I love a good meme, I tend to enjoy a channel more when the creator branches out into other things, even if I tend to only enjoy one style of video they make. I show support to all things that creator does whether it’s my cup of tea or not! More often than not, I love it even more if when a creator who is known for one type of content suddenly does a full z-axis turn and hits the audience with something, or even a bunch of something’s radically different!

I can't remember exactly how long I've been watching your content, but I know I've been subbed for a long time. I know exactly the pitfall you're talking about, in getting sucked into a type of content creation and feeling trapped by it, unable to do other things. I 100% encourage you to just go with your gut. At first, you probably won't get much in terms of views from people who are already subbed, but if what you make makes you happy and you feel is compelling, then that's what you should go for. This is not only wise in terms of your channel, it's wise for you as a person which is more important in the end. You have to be happy doing something like this or it won't work.
I've missed a few videos here and there, but usually when I see a video pop up in my feed, I'll go back and catch ones I've missed. Onestly, (regarding the "passion project" thing) i LOVED The Rift series and it kinda break my heart when you discontinued it because it seemed a really original concept and it was also a nice breath of fresh air to have an original series with plot rather than the usual chaos of your videos.

I fully understand what you mean. I’ve made tons upon tons of videos on my channel that are absolutely hilarious to me, and have a lot of effort put into them, but in the end are only viewed by me and whatever friends I send the videos to. The only videos I get high view counts on (which is usually 15-20 for me, not counting the random 1 to 2 thousand) are meme videos. That’s just how the algorithm is. It fucking sucks. Obviously my channel gets nowhere near the amount of traffic as yours, and nowhere near the amount of effort is put into my videos compared to yours, but it’s tragic how many people on this godforsaken site get no reward for their work, no matter how many hours they put into it. Keep up the work, Bosh. Don’t let this youtube stuff stress you.
