This video is about 1998 - 2002 Camaro Brake Upgrade - Авто/Мото
Brake hoses go into the caliper. Brake lines feed the hose. Lines are hard, hoses are soft.
Your comment is making me soft… 😉
Hello, I found your video as I looked to confirm I had the right kit in the cart to order for my 2002 WS6 convertible. Your instructions were clear and easy to follow. I think I will attempt to do my own conversion after all. One thing you did not cover and I wondered if you went back and did was to upgrade the brake lines. I bet you didn't think this video would still be watched all these years later. Thank you.
GREAT job bro
You did everything correctly, except put the rotors in the right direction. The lines and holes are supposed to cut into the break. It’s supposed to look like the rotor is spinning backwards. Just RUclips how to install drill slotted rotors👍🏿
Your right about that I guess it’s just a matter of how you want the brake dust to show on your rims. My dust shows like 1 inches round dots in the back of the rims..
@ProWilson21. Slotted/drilled rotors are very puzzling.
What bugs me is the slotted aspect. Say you got them this way as recommended, the brake dust will be expelled towards the outer edge with every rotation because of the centrifugal force, whereas if the slots were the other way your dust would be forced inward towards the center, basically compacting itself and filling the slot. Not sure if that makes any sense.
Been installing my rotors this way for years without any issues. 👍👍
@ProWilson21. Actually he followed manufacturers recommended installation...remember that sticker? Lol
If the vents/vanes are straight IIIIIII it really doesn't change much but if they are angled //////// then you need to be careful.

Good video!
Was looking for this kit (calipers included) for my 2018 Accord Touring 2.0. Not impressed with the OEM rotors pads & calipers, for the price you're paying either the Z23 or Z26s offer a good choice
Agree. And they look way better.
Great video, but I didn't like how you did the bleeding procedure.
How did you cud removed them 2 bolts in the Callipers???
I couldn't I hade to return mines☹️
That was one great video. Just the way it should be! A guy and his car, telling you how to do it on your car. Simple, clear, to the point, and entertaining! Congrats 👏👏
Thanks! Just the real deal from me.
It’s recommended you clean the hub before installing the rotor. All in all very well done demo. Good job
Thanks. I got a lot of bad comments for letting the break Fluid leak down the caliber. But I could not find my clear line to show the fluid come out is the blender. Calipers stayed nice and read all they way until I sold the car.
first time to the channel, great job dude!!
L. Spalla Thanks! Don’t forget to subscribe.
First time watcher and new Subscriber, Great Video sir. Thanks very much.
Thank you for the comment and the subscription! Once I get 1000 sub’s, you will see Harley Davidson content!
Two months after I purchased the Power Stop brake kit my right rear caliper failed and began leaking brake fluid. After waiting three weeks for the part, they now tell me the ETA is over a month away. This really sucks. I now have to buy and install a temporary generic caliper while I wait for the Power Stop caliper.
Don't do it.
Right Rear Leak. TT797144
Man that sucks! There has been world wide shipping delays on everything lately. I’m glad Powers stop is backing there product and replacing what went bad for you. Sucks you have to wait so long for the replacement. Thanks for watching my video!
I have an 02 WS6 TA. (same family of cars) GREAT vid sir...thanks. Have my brake kit on order now. Love the Corona product placement lol
LOL. Glad you liked the video. Just today my brake pads started to squeal. Need to replace the pads. They lasted a decent amount of time. I still recommend this kit.
Thank you brotha!! Very helpful video, pretty much got everything down, but I wasn’t to sure about how to bleed the calibers and you pretty much answered that for me! Thanks again !
TO ANYONE WATCHING THIS.....Use a bungee cord to hang the caliper, also turn your wheel to make more room.GOOD LUCK!!!
gpquinney yes. If you have a bungee cord that would be great. Luckily 3 of my 4 cars, when I hang the caliper it stays secure. I have a Mitsubishi Eclipse as well. I have to use a bungee with that car. Otherwise it will slip off. And yes, turning the wheel will make accessing the bolts much easier. Not sure why I never thought of that.
Thanks!
@@FrankGuest right on man. I learned by someone helping me not that you need it, just puting out there for anybody watching
Hey bud, ive got the parts at home from American Muscle. Im chaging to steel braded lines, and the same rotors and pads you feature in this video. My calipers are good, so... not changing them out. Did you like the performance
Of those parts (rotors, pads) please let me know. Thanks
gpquinney to be honest I did not notice much difference in performance. What I did notice was less brake dust. I need to do steel braided lines too.
@@FrankGuest ok thank you
The diet Corona is essential, tip put the brake pads in when the new calipers are off the car, a bit easier. Then just bolt onto the knuckle and switch the banjo bolt (brake line) over.
he Iron visit us for brake job this time you will be more then satidfied geobrakes.com/#/Home
Good job
Thank you.
TWO things:
#1: When applying the grease to the outer pad, you just need to apply where the pad would meet resistance.
#2: Holy Cow! You bled that fluid all over the place :-) didn't have a hose to bleed through? Good golly.
I’ve had lots of comments about the fluid running all over my calibers. I have a hose that I usually use, but did not find it that day so many years ago. I’m lucky the red paint held up.
I like calling a wrench a socket.
Whatever gets the job done sir! LOL
Great video, very informative. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
About to put the same setup for my FBody SS as well. Thank you for the video much needed and much appreciated 🙌🏻
Glad you liked it and thanks for watching. Please give the video a thumbs up if you have not done so already.
Great video, and extremely helpful.
Thank You👍👍
Nice install, though I'm not sure greasing the back of the pads was necessary. Seems like overkill and increases the chances of contaminating the pads. I would check the guide pins for proper lube. Plus when bleeding you're better off with a short length of hose attached to the bleeder & submerged in a clear bottle of fluid, this not only ensures no air bubbles, but also that air doesn't return thru the bleeder. Also be mindful of the level in the master, don't let it get low!
FTBY59 Mike D thanks for the comments. I already got a short Jose and fun it I to a bottle. I don’t have fluid in the bottle. I’ll try that next time. I’m replacing my rear calipers next weekend.
Thank you, Sir. The first brake bleeding video I watched :) I get it now why people buy those hand vacuum pumps
CNT I have a black piece of rubber tubing that I usually put in the bleeder. I left if off for the purpose of the video. I wanted you to see the fluid.
Should you metal brush the centre hub before installing the new rotor on it?
“Uh uh uh uh uh” bro how many times are you gonna “uh” it’s all I noticed 😂
Uh. It was all the beer! lol
Great video bro. Purchasing the complete front and rear kit for my ‘87 gbody Monte Carlo. Should be a huge upgrade from the rear drums it has now. 👍🏼
Bankrupt Marc you should see way better stopping power at a fraction of the cost of a big brembo upgrade. Plus the powered coated rotors look great! Thanks for watching. Please subscribe to my channel.
Update on how they perform ? Brake fade ? any squeaking on heavier braking ? dust ?
I'm assuming your brake pad wear increased more than if the rotors were were solid disc.
Yes!
Make sure you have a Corona when you are doing your brake jobs. 😂
Do they squeal when cold?
I no longer have the car. But this set up was on it when I sold it and no squealing.
Some rookie mistakes but beautiful brake and rotor set!
Supernova Thank you for being so polite, others have not been so...
is that new caliper bigger than old one , or it’s same size please ?
Slightly larger. But it’s not a big brake it’s. It just looks much better than stock.
It will fit your stock rims.
Brake fluid is corrosive why would you just let it flow out like that?
christpuncher98 I assume your talking about when I was bleeding the brakes. Brake fluid is very corrosive and I should have stressed that in the video. I usually attach a hose to the bleeder valve and catch the fluid as it comes out to dispose of later. For the purpose of the video I left it out so people could see the fluid.
brake fluid is corrosive but its not acid that instantly will burn through.. if you spill brake fluid on paint you can just simply wipe it off, clean is good with like a dish soap and you'll be absolutely fine!! obviously if you're going to leave brake fluid on paint for a while you can say goodbye to that paint...
@@IvanRossS I know, like it's the end of world. How many times have we gotten gas on our car paint? Wipe it off. No one is staring at like a doofus executing a science experiment.
Awesome stuff! Love the beer and the quick casual work that goes along nicely together! I don't know what day you shot this video, but I'm guessing a Saturday. Not hence the weekend warrior, but the street warrior installer! : ))
Thanks for the comment. I appreciate it!
One important note is to put the pad that has no pins on the backing plate on the piston side of the caliper. The pins will deform the pistons and they will seize in their bores. In the video you put the pad that has the pins torward the pistons. You should switch them around. If you don't, you'll be buying new calipers or a rebuild kit. Hopefully the pistons are still good.
stanmack1 To be honest I’m not entirely sure what your talking about. That brake set up has been in my car for a while now. I’ll take the pads off this weekend and see if I can tell what your talking about and fix it.
@@FrankGuest I saw the vid again, and you might have put the two inner pads on the passenger side. Check the pads on the driver side. I put the Evolution Plus ceramic pads on my 03 mustang gt and noticed those pins on the backing plate. The previous owner did not. I had to buy calipers to replace the damaged ones. We both have the same PBR style calipers on our cars.
@@stanmack1 I know this is old but that’s exactly what he did. That little raised bump in the middle of the pad will keep the front side of the caliper from seating flush against the brake pad and will usually cause uneven pressure of the pad against the rotor. The two pads that he put on the passenger side are the inside pads.
Gotta have a Corona on the side haha great video!!! Just subscribed!! 👍👍
Thanks your the man!
How have the calipers been holding up?
Do they fade out after time?
Thanks for the Upload👍👍👍
15:50 Can I put salad source on it...
Frank, I recollect seeing somewhere that these rotors should not be cleaned, or maybe, you don't need to clean them. I've always cleaned rotors in the past. However, now, I have doubt. I wouldn't want to remove any coating that facilitated breakin. Any thoughts or information would be appreciated.
Ronald Craft these were pretty clean when I got them. Every other set of stock rotors have been delivered to me greasy and they had to be cleaned. As of today the rotors and still quite and still stoping the car.
Can I use these brakes on a 2019 Nissan Sentra ? Or should I just stick with the z23 ..
Looks like there is a 23 and 26 that will fit your car. Z26 is only $20 more. It’s a no brainer. Go with the Z26.
i dont think you can or visit us for more details thank you geobrakes.com/#/Home
How do you figure out how to tighten the last part correctly without a special tool like you have , I just have normal socket wrenches and my two hands I can’t measure the pounds of force I use
Nick Romo I would go with the Good And Tight method. A torque wrench is not very expensive at Home Depot or Auto Zone. If you like working on your car, it would be worth it to pick one up.
I use speed bleeders to bleed brakes. One person job.
I love the video. I had one question though , with this kit can the stock caliper still be used or does the caliper have to be replaced?
looks likes stock size with a stock style sliding caliper... a fixed quad pistons would be the real deal like Brembo
Whats the weight difference in rotors?
I really curious about the stopping power. I hear people with Hellcats and GTs complain about the pads and rotors but they've got brembo calipers which begs the question...wtf are you doing buying a budget brake kit. Are the calipers any good? I'm coming from a stock 98 honda brakes, and I want something with more bite, more power as I went a little overboard with the motor rebuild and can't afford brembos but I really need to slow this thing down quicker because showing off is terrifying
Nicholas Croft Dude. To be honest the stomping power is only a bit better than stock. But they have held up. Both rotor and calipers are still clean. Have not changed the rotors or the pads yet. Car is driven every day. I haven’t raced this car in years. If I were to race her again, I would junk these and get a real big brake kit. These are just for show my friend.
@@FrankGuest Thank you for saving me some cash man, I appreciate that reply and information
Aye I like your beer of choice buddy:)
Key Wëyd Thank You. It is my go to beer for any project we’re sweat may be involved! So everything LOL. Thanks for watching my video and not yelling at me for letting brake fluid drip on my new calipers. Please subscribe to see more content.
@@FrankGuest yeah helped convince me to get that power stop break kit for my 05 civic. Now I need to just put the mf on. Haha. No sweat;)
Very informative video bro
LatinTotal thank you for watching. Let me know if you have any questions.
Awesome video! Great job!
Adam Slosar thanks for watching my video. Please subscribe to my channel. I just replaced the PCM. I’ll be posting that video in the next few days.
Great video! Now that it's been a few years how do you feel about the power stop kit? Did they hold up over time and what differences did u notice between the old oem setup and the power stop kit? Thanks! If anyone has any thoughts on the power stop brake kits please let me know, I'm about to buy the rear kit and front rotors for my 17 mustang gt.
The calipers, rotors and pads held up until I blew the motor in my car 6 months ago. LOL. Calipers were still nice and red. As far as performance, to be honest I did not notice much if any. They sure look better than stock, but if you have track days in mind, go with the more expensive Big brake kits.
I believe the calipers are stock equivilant in every way and the rotors are the same size as stock. There would be negligable difference from stock unless the rotors were being worked very very hard. Some say the slots help with bite a bit, and may help keep the pad surface nice and clear of debris. They look awesome! Going to be doing something simliar myself!@@FrankGuest
Great video! Very informative wasn’t completely sure on the bleeding process. Now after watching your video I’ll feel confident on my new Z-26 brake upgrade! New subscriber here👍🏻😎
Glad you liked the video and thanks for the sub.
How are they looking after 2 years, any rust in the non contact area?
Edwin Vargas calipers are stroll nice and red. It’s a good quality powder coat on them. I have not changed the rotors or pads yet either. I’m going to purchase the same kit but for the rear.
I wouldnt put all that grease on the outside of the pads yikes. Grease sandwich. Looks pretty bad too once the job is done, you can see all this unnecessary grease through the calipers lol. Grease the guide pins instead of the back of the brake pad
Thanks for the comment. I may have been a bit heavy on the grease.
Where do I find the specs for my car? I have a 2018 chevy impala.
I commented beforw watching the whole video.. so is it at LS1Tech?
Robert Baker does your Impala come with an LS? I’d it does then I’m sure you will find what you are looking for. Are you looking for a so specific part or just have questions about your car?
we have all options available for impala infact i am using this car though geobrakes.com/#/Home
I felt how difficult it was to get the top bolt lose.
Nice car. Do you happen to know the diameter of the rotors?
303 millimeters, just about 12 inches.
Are you a teacher?
If not should be one.
I put z / 36 on my 01 cadillac deville STS it stops here and now.
Now for my 03 chevy silverado no such as performance stopping, I call it extra emergency ability.
LOL. Definitely not a teacher. But I do manage an excellent crew of AV Technicians. Please hit the thumbs up on my video and subscribe to my channel.
What kind of torx wrench did you use
Autocraft AC67 3/8 drive. I pretty sure I got it at Auto Zone.
@@FrankGuest thanks man
Do you recommend these parts or your local Honda dealership parts?
Anthony Perez These parts are nicer looking and less expensive than dealer parts. And they work just as well. I would go with Power Stop.
have you had any issues with the rotors cracking since you put them on 3 years ago?
Nope. Never changed the pads either. Blew the motor in the car a few months ago though. It’s been all parted out 😩
@@FrankGuest also did ur rotors screech when your first put them in ?
@@honda123456g No. they were good brakes. The powder coated on the calipers stayed nice and red as well. No improved braking, but improved looks for sure.
@@FrankGuest interesting since I just put mine on yesterday and they screech sometimes when I turn I have to figure out what that noise is coming from
@@honda123456g you should look at the little metal clips that hold the pads in place. They may be contacting the rotor. If that’s the case, you may need to grind down some of it.
Very nice write up . I would like to know how you felt driving it and braking experience. any negative things to say on this kit? I'm close to ordering exact one for my 2002 Camaro SS SLP. I'm hopeing the calipers will clear my Race Star Wheels without mods.
FastActiveLSX I run stock rims on my car. The calipers do not rub at all on the back side of the rim. These breaks stop very smooth. Not sure if they stop better than the stock breaks. I should have taken measurements before and after while stopping. One issue with the kit I got was the rattle clips were not wide enough. They rubbed on the back of the rotor. It was an easy fix. Just used a dermal to grind away some of the metal on the back side of the clip. Breaks work great and stop nice and smooth. No squealing at all. I recommend them. Let me know how the installation goes. Let me know if you have any issues. Don’t forget to subscribe!
Awesome thanks for reply, just ordered it today. Ill let you know if i have any questions. Im subscribed!
Excellent video thank you!! do they work good? Better than stock brakes? they have good durability?
Manuel R. A. Thank you for liking the video. I did not do an official before and after test. Wish I did. That said I do not notice any real difference between these and the stock breakers that I had. ( other than they look way better) The rotors still look good and the pads have plenty of life left in them. That said they are not that old. Time will tell. I still get break dust, but not as bad as before. Replacing the breaks on my Mitsubishi Eclipse next. Will probably go with the same brand. Need to paint the calipers orange on that car to match the paint.
FYI - NEVER use brake cleaner on a rotor! Never, absolutely no need and can actually damage it! The pads get cleaned when you do a proper "break-in." Right after you install you perform about 5-7 brake events such as a hard brake from 40mph-10mph about 5 times then a very hard complete stop from 35mph, etc. Nice brakes! Now you just forced yourself to buy new wheels/rims!!!
Thanks for the info. But my tires and rims are fine. Well they were fine up until I got rid of the car a year ago. Blew the motor having too much fun. lol. Lots of times when I get rotors, they are covered in some type of grease. I always use cleaner on them. Why do you say it will damage my rims and tires?
how do you make sure there is not grease all over it? real world asking for a friend.
Did you do the recommended break in? I'm about to put these on my car but it will be hard to find anywhere to do the break in.
Pavel Zajec I did do a break in. But not exactly like I should have. I did some easy breaking as I left my street. Then a few panic-stops from 30 and then from 50. That’s it. Make sure your rattle clips dont rub against your rotors. I had to grind them down a bit.
ok. Thanks.
Thx for video ^^

Are these brakes good
MrLonerStoner53 they are good looking brakes. They perform slightly better than stock. But like I said, they look way better. The red on the calipers is still bright and clean. Still have the same rotors on the car. Sold the car last week unfortunately. Moving onto other projects.
How are the pads and rotors doing now? Just wondering about the durability of these z26 kit.
Ravindu Udugampola same pads and rotors are on the car. Rotors still look good and pads are not squealing yet. Calipers are still nice and red.
@@FrankGuest Awesome. I ordered a set for my car, rotors and pads, but keeping oem caliper. Thanks for the reply!

So how do you like this kit now that you've had them installed for a while? I'm thinking about buying this kit for my 98 Trans am.

As the manufacturer of the #1 "Real Synthetic" Ceramic Brake Lubricant... I'd like to mention that the lube you used is not high temperature by any means. It is based on Silicone and according to Dow and GE (Original and Largest Manufacturers) is has a maximum working temperature of only 400F, not the 3000F on the CRC label. Companies that make products like the one in your video are good at marketing high tech ideas but unfortunately supplying products that don't match the hype.
If you want the one that won over 10 "Top Products of the Year" Awards and was chosen by dozens of OE's, check out: www.Ceramlub.com for the real deal. Then get a tub for your shop and or technician to use during an install, for real temperature over 2000F and sustainability.
GWR Products Thanks. I’ll check it out. It’s time for me to do my rear brakes. Going to use the same type of kit. Front brakes are still good.
@@FrankGuest Please let me know where to send you a tub and I will get one out and on the way Frank. I look forward to seeing you use it for your next brake job video, for the rear set up.
Brake fluid all over your painted caliper? Lol bye bye paint.
06R6Rider Powder coated calipers are staying red. I did drop some on the faring of my old bike. Even though I cleaned it right away, if you looked closely. You could see the damage.
