There's a lot of material surrounding the tang , I've re-shaped my handle quite a bit, to suit my hand... It's much much better now, and extremely comfortable to use.. I finished the whole handle with 400 grit sandpaper, and it now has a fantastic grippy yet semi-smooth finish.. I highly recommend this modification...
I could definitely see how that would help, but I think I'm going to end up making one a few inches longer, with 1/4 thick stock and micarta handles lol

Looks like a halfway decent chopper. The only real designated heavy chopper I have is the JX5. Other than that, I just have big Bowie knives that are big enough to chop.

Man that Bushcraft parang is a beast of a chopper. Maybe you should make a kydex sheath for it?
