  • Hi guys today we’re going to be looking at a bunch of uniforms from South Korea. South Korea has one of the largest armed forces in the world and that is reflected in the fact that they’ve used a variety of different camoflauge patterns and uniforms. Now just a disclaimer, I know I am missing some used by special forces and the predecessor to tonghab. Additionally South Korean forces have used some U.S. patterns like chocolate chip and UCP. But this is still a pretty solid representation so I thought I’d share. Sorry if I missed some dates or messed up some information. Thanks for watching, hope you enjoy.

      There are a lot of people online who have more knowledge than me on Korean uniforms. I just happened to document them in a video. Camopedia is a solid resource

    I have a 'waves' pattern South Korean jacket from the late 70s, early 80s. Very similar to that duck hunter jacket you have.

    Hey man nice video. I'm very curious about the Koreas and you clearly know a lot about this topic. You've got really good narration and you're presenting information well.
    I think if you could figure out a stationary camera setup and allow us to look at still shots of the individual articles, or just shots from a stationary camera, it would allow your knowledge and narration to really shine through. Thanks for the video and I hope to see your channel grow.

    Just bought my first Korean item. It was a school pattern shirt and a pair of duck hunter pants. Really fond of the HBT material on the pants, very comfortable

      You can find them for sale on the internet. I've seen some on Ebay. The one I sourced made its way to Vietnam somehow. Not sure how it ended up there.

    8:09 this is called Gyo ryeon bok(교련복) for military driiling in high school at 60's to 80's. bad boys were likes wearing this uniform.

      Finally someone knows the name. So it was more like boot camp for problem students than a JROTC program?

    • @maddogjacko4676
      @maddogjacko4676 7 месяцев назад

      @@GearReview23 nah it was for every students. At that time 60's in Korea was just few years past from war. So every high school students are pre trained military. It was mandatory till 80's. But bad boys like this pattern because this looks cool and feels like being soldier and very manly that's why that guys were liked that. And some Gyo ryeon bok pattern has school name that belongs on pattern as smooth as Korean word. Look closer then can see school name. Actually this pattern made from Korean alphabet. ㄱㄴㄷㄹㅁㅂㅅㅇㅈㅊㅋㅌㅍㅎ

    5:18 this woodland is U.S. military's. it's not Korean version woodland. I served at army and I used Korean woodland.

    • @GearReview23
      @GearReview23  7 месяцев назад +1

      There are different variations of Korean woodland, but what leads you to believe it isn't Korean woodland? The pattern is not U.S. woodland and there are stamps written in Korean as well as the nametag and such.

    • @maddogjacko4676
      @maddogjacko4676 7 месяцев назад

      @@GearReview23 that color is totally different. Korean one is more brighter than U.S. and generally almost korean soldiers think Korean woodland is cheapest version of U.S. ARMY's and some soldiers buy them self U.S. AMRY woodland bdu from market near u.s. base. Then modify as Korean one.(it's past story. Before digit camo)
