James, thanks for your "big picture" view. You have cleared up TONS of confusion for me. Specifically the dif between blog and website and when each is appropriate.
If just started with Hostgator their customer service is outstanding second to none . Thanks also for this video because I'm a person whi needs to take time to process and you make it easier
This is AMAZING!! I started making one and use Wordpress web hosting so i'm not sure if I can change but never less this has helped me loads. Thank you :)
+Tammy Drew. Hi Tammy. I am new to blogging on WP. Since you've likely been working on yours for a little while now, I was wondering if you knew the answer to my question: I am in the process of creating a new blog with WordPress. Through WordPress, I purchased the Premium Plan and registered a domain name with a .com address. I am about 8 minutes into the above video. I have not yet registered with Host Gator. Is it still necessary for me to choose at domain at Host Gator? And if so, do I choose the "I Already Own This Domain" option? Help/advice would be greatly appreciated!
Whilst I appreciate you taking the time to produce this tutorial, when it comes to any software it makes sense to update the information at least once a year. This tutorial applies to software that is two and half years old. Many updates and changes have been made since and these are obvious within the first few minutes of your instructions here. Makes life very difficult trying to follow outdated instructions.
Thank you for this video i sooooo enjoyed it, now i feel Geeked, you made it so simple and concise to follow, and i truly love the fact of you sharing the 4 important plugins My name is Fatima El-Rasul and i APPROVE THIS VIDEO 100%
What would you recommend for a theme for a travel blog? Also, I see that Host Gator has Web Hosting plans and WordPress Hosting plans? I've seen that you can build a blog with both, but still not sure why someone should pick one over the other. While I am looking to use WordPress, I'm still trying to get an understanding of what these mean before signing up. Thanks
Hi James, Great video! I am a beginner and found the walk through easy, I do however have a problem which I hope you can assist with. I built my website through wordpress first which I have spent many hours on. I was hoping this video would allow me to build another page just for blogging, but the plugins that I installed work on all my pages which I don't require and take value from the overall look of the site. Is there a way in keeping these social icons dedicated to just one page? (the blog page) Many thanks in advance.
Thanks for putting this together! I have a website for my business with a blog set up by a web designer but I have done nothing with it so far. I'm confused about how I should set up a blog. Would it be better to have a separate domain name for my blog? If I install the Yoast plugins on my wp site, it won't affect the site itself, right - they only apply to blogs? Thanks!

Excellent video. However, it doesn't answer the question that I have about my website. I have a link to my blog page, but it doesn't look like I expected. I can't figure out how to make it look more dynamic, with a sidebar and all the juicy stuff that I would need. Any help would be appreciated. I'm not a total newbie, but this one's got me stumped. Thanks in advance!
I personally enjoyed your tutorial but feel like a bunch was missing about the actual blog. Like for 1, I already have a website and wanted to add a blog page, then published posts and didn't know how to get them on my blog page. Also must I use a # for the tags or not?
After all is said and done what is the final cost associated with building a blog this way? It listed the hosting and domain prices but are all of the plugins mentioned free or is there a cost associated with each of the plugins used in this video.
I tried at both chrome and explorer. also, I already a have a blog of mine but since I want to monetize it and would opt a domain name, would my contents on d alrdy existing page disappear if I delete the page layout and post ones that u initially mentioned in the video. also, it shows cost 699 rupees per year plus rs 355/month for hatching making the total to rs 5703 with invalid code again. do I need to opt privacy protect which again is charging me.
Very clear to follow even for a computer numpty like me, lol. I couldn't get the Wordpress Seo plugin. Or WP socializer or Sumome List builder. Hmm, think something isn't working right as even ones that are there in the list aren't coming up when I put them in the search box 🙄
hi, thanks for the video, it was very helpful. i am trying to create a custom diary/organiser page for each member, who can register/login to my website then keep record of their own personal diary (e.g. to do list). do you know which plugin/widgets would be useful? or do you have any tutorial for this? many thanks
how long does it take to launch the actual site, after you clicked the link on the dashboard?? cause when i click on visit my site, it takes to a page with WEBPAGE COMING SOON written
Do i have to set up my blog using a hosting website? I can't just set it up straight from wordpress? idk i am so new to this blogging thing but i really wanna give it a try. i already made my blog on wordpress but did not know i needed a hosting site before that.
+Brooke Webb Hello Brooke. It seems that I ran into the same issue. Did you ever end up finding the answer to your question? If so, what was it? Thanks!
I'm having the same problem as Jayne Meyer, my quickInstall page doesnt look like your at all. It leads me to wordpress version 4.4.4 Its a dot org and the free option but theres no area to fill in for getting email or blog title or anything. Please help

Excellent tutorial - but 'a few minutes to set up'! The video is 30min to watch and one stage requires you to wait 3hrs before a link is sent. This will take an evening to do right - but your walk thru is great, thanks.
Question...... if you don't want your blog as your main page. EG. you have a home page and a blog page separate.... how do you post to a different page?
hello, when i am registering for a domain name and a hosting, including the coupon code , its costing me around 4500 rupees. Plus, the code wordpresshero is not being accepted but there is some other default code they show which is being validated. How come its this expensive.
Hi James, if I don't pay for it can I still get viewers? If someone pays for the act is that because of a domain name? I have a wordpress act but still so confused. I want to post pictures of my jewelry but also gain customers, can I sell on Wordpress by using my paypal account? When Can I make money on Wordpress? Can I talk about different things on my blog? Jewelry, travel, food, pets etc...??
I wasted so much time today on various wordpress videos and I found this most helpful. Thank you so much!!!
