Good question! Now you're sending me down a rabbit hole to find out. My initial thought: no, or at least vintage isn't primitive, but primitive could be vintage. I'll share your question with Holly to get her take on it.
From Holly: I don't have a real educated answer to this. Primitive patterns bring to mind a simpler time and way of life where quilts were necessary for warmth, but also beautiful. Vintage makes me think more of the fabric choice. 60's and 70's prints. Wish I had a better answer.

I think the Primitive Gatherings box is a lot of fun. It's a great way to try out patterns and fabrics you may not have chosen on your own.
PRIMITIVE. I love the box. I am so ready for the mustard color to disappear, too. I have seen it on walls in houses. Growing up on a ranch/farm we called mustard "calf scours'.

The patterns are both lovely for someone to highlight their quilting skills. Lots of space for beautiful motifs. Unfortunately that isn’t me. I agree with the 3 rating for this box.
I had a mouse in my sewing room recently also. It ran in there after my cat carried it up from the basement and dropped it on my bed in the middle of the night. I have tried to explain to the cat that I don’t like live presents, but I haven’t been successful. 😬
My cat plopped a baby squirrel on my bed one day!

Thanks for sharing the latest PG box. I subscribed to it last year, and continued into the first part of this year. As nice quality as all of their items are, I was a bit frustrated in having to still purchase yards of fabric for the backgrounds to make their projects. I finally canceled, and after your showing of the Open Door box, went with that one. I was so pleased with this month's box, and can't wait for the next one. Good luck with your little mousie; just know if one got in, there's more, and you'll probably have to leave your trap out through fall as the critters try to find ways inside. Thanks again for all you do!

Hey Holly!! I am catching up, my daughter got married last night, it was a beautiful event! Family came to visit and they just left. I like the Primitive Gatherings Box, I think the Strawberry Lemonade quilt would be a good gift for my Mom, and I think the Honey Bloom looks nice with the darker background! I give the box a 4, and I appreciate you giving us the opportunity to win it. I understand about the mouse, they are cute but can get out of hand quickly. I really like the Primative Gatherings box. I have bolts of white and grey fabrics. I buy those when they are on sale. I too had a mouse in my sewing room. It has been relocated.

This box is a 5 for me. I think it reflects the price. I would prefer background for one of the projects, but I'm sure it would dive the price up. I think your mouse is a girl and she's looking for a lovely fabric nest for a family 😅. Catherine seems like a good name for her. 😂

As you are telling your mouse story, I was watching a squirrel outside your door play. I would enjoy your Primative Gatherings box if I won it. Working on a simpler quilt from the box of cards of different patterns. I have all three boxes of them so in between my big quilts I make a block a day for this quilt to be put together some day.
I'm on the fence abt Primative Gatherings ( I think ever since I did Oh Say Can you Sew quilt) but I do have quite a stash of Strawberry Lemonade and might like it in that quilt. How about Ben, one of my favorite songs of the 70's.
The Primitive box fabrics are very pretty. The Honeybloom was Maine's Shop Hop fabric this year and was so popular.
The honeybloom charm squares for the primitive quilt are beautiful as well as the patterns.
Primitive 4/4 im always so happy to find a video is up when i am not expecting. Ive learned so much about whats what in the quilting world…fabrics…notions…etc. so thanks!!!

Hello Holly, you are looking lovely as always. The Primative Gatherings box is a 3 for me, I am not a big flower girl for my fabric. Winter is coming, white walkers, love it, my fellow Game of Thrones girl!!!! I just started watching season 1 again.

Love the primitive gatherings strawberry lemonade pattern and 5 inch squares. Since I have moved into this house 14 years ago, I have not had a mouse. The cats in my neighborhood take care of mouse and other things. I hope everything is going well for you.
The blouse you are wearing is so pretty and so becoming. Yes, I would be happy with the Primitive box. The price and shipping is reasonable. I give it a 4. The first gray quilt is gorgeous . It is very primitive. Funny mouse tale lol.

Primitive Gatherings is a great box. I give it a five. I love their Fabrics though you do need to like a lot of small prints. Primitive Gatherings has great quilts of Valor patterns. And as far as your mouse I think you should name him Taytay
This Primitive Gatherings box is a good one. Pretty fabrics and patterns. I tend to store background fabrics so I don’t really mind a bigger project like these.

I used to get this box but got frustrated with always having to purchase a lot more fabric. It seemed like it was always charm pack based. I would rather have fewer projects and have more things included. I like the ongoing project this year. I do really like a lot of what PG puts out, but would rather order what I need as opposed to the box. I give this one a 3. (The carmels are amazing!).

On your little mousey friend, if you are wanting to catch him, put the trap behind the dresser perpendicular to the wall with peanut butter and you will catch him! I actually love the fabrics you received in the PRIMITIVE Gathering's box. I totally understand what you said about the patterns being so much larger than the amount of fabric but I really would buy what was needed to make them.

I love the MOda 3 three sisters line. I used a line they had out in 2017 to make my daughter a double wedding ring wall hanging for a wedding gift. Fabulous fabric then and no fraying.

I used to get this box. I would rather a project based box instead of a few projects where I have to purchase a lot more fabric to complete any of the projects. I used to receive this subscription and have so many projects I’ve yet to work on…let alone complete. The caramels are amazing. I give this box a 3.5

Good morning and happy - Saturday? A video on a Saturday!??! What a pleasant surprise!
After a *lot* of thought, I've decided not to rate this box (and I do mean a LOT - I've been watching & pausing & typing & deleting & retyping for almost an hour and a half, and there's still six minutes of video left). There are many things that I like about it - the Honeybloom charm pack is lovely, three patterns is generous, the solids are nice, the caramels look yummy, and the cost-to-value is certainly there. But despite that, it's not something I would want for my very own. And it's not that there's anything wrong with the box, it's just that *I am not the target audience.* It's obvious this is designed for quilters, and I'm more of a "things in which to put other things" sort of sewist. The low rating for personal preference would drag down the high marks for value more than I think would be fair. It would be like asking a vegetarian to rate a steak dinner, ya know? (Whoops, and now I feel bad because you *did* score it low on preference and it sounds like I'm chastising you - I swear I hadn't seen your ratings before I typed all that! But I'm going to stick with it, because it's honest to how I feel about the box.)
