Love how the baby's tail sticks out of the water like a little flag. Wonderful mama for moving those hippos out of the way, getting her baby out of the water.!!
I don't think that the group realized that baby was in trouble when it first fell into the water. It was great to see baby finally navigate it's way back to the bank and to watch mom keep her leg positioned to help keep baby from sliding back into the water. Baby ellie is just the cutest little thing ever. Great Mom!
We people have lots to learn from this MAGNIFICIENT being ....see the patience the gentle touch every now and then ....she let the baby frolick as long as he wanted and then v gently helped him come out !
How beautifully this video shows the mother elephant allowing its calf to enjoy and frolic in the pond, prods it to get up and walk without lifting it, even if it means leaving its herd, is simply amazing and watchworthy!!!
The little one was having the best time playing in the water. Watched a second time to focus on Momma. As suspected, she knew where those hippos were the entire time. She knew when they crossed the "red line" and they did too. You could see it in their eye muscles. Baby learned a lot with that interaction. Fun to watch and fun to disect.Thank you for sharing!
All of the mamas seem quiet around the little ones. I read yesterday that when the female and baby herd walks, their pace is as fast as that of the smallest baby! They are such awesome mothers! We should take more example from them. Patience and unconditional love, and more patience.

I have never seen a mama elephant protecting her baby from hippos. Wow. Such precious footage! Even hippos got intimidated in shallow water like this by a gentle giant mama. It was very nerve wrecking to see the baby in the water. He had hard time getting out of water 💦 , he kept slipping at the end and my heart was racing. Thank goodness he was able to get out. The elephant isn’t even two months old. Less than a month old, it didn’t look that different from new born elephants I’ve seen. Very tiny yet so resilient. ❤
Amazing mom! All the other elephants left, her baby wanted to play in the water.. She was so patient.. Pretended she was calm around the hippos, until they got too close, she said " touch my baby, and you have to mess with angry, big me " Beautiful elephant mom. Hope those two will be safe together as long as they live. I wonder... Why did dad elephant, not stay behind with them, when all the others left..?? Anyway... Bye 👋 ❤
