This is the longplay of Pocky & Rocky, a scrooling shooter action game released initially for Arcades and then for other platforms. This is the Super Nintendo version, produced and distributed by Natsume and released in 1993 and with a different style from Arcade.
The story of the game is as follows: long ago, the seven gods of fortune were kidnapped by monsters that lived in the region. Priestess Pocky and her raccoon friend Rocky fought the monsters and managed to save them. After that, a period of relative peace began and people were hopeful that the monsters would not cause more trouble in those lands.
Later, Rocky dashes to the sanctuary where Pocky works to warn her that the monsters are causing trouble again and ask for help to resolve the situation once again. However, the duo is surprised by the sudden arrival of a large and aggressive group of monsters in the place and, upon regaining control of the place, discover the reason behind this new confusion.
The plot develops around the evil influence of the Black Mantle. The appearance of this villain has made the spirits/goblins around Pocky's sanctuary hostile and dangerous. It's up to the heroine and her raccoon ally to go after the enemy and restore peace to the region. The story is narrated by illustrations and text boxes before and after each level.
The game is in the best run and gun style and the objective of each level is simple: go through the scenario to the end and eliminate the enemies in your path. Throughout the stage, there are bosses that make the player's life a little difficult. The player moves his character through the phases, using a button to launch projectiles, another button to use a melee/short-range attack that also serves to repel projectiles, a quick dodge command and another to activate a special attack. During the journey, there are several items, such as power ups (which taken in sequence, give powerful and longer-range attacks), healing items, protective amulets, among other support objects.
It's a good game and quite challenging. The graphics are very well done and the soundtrack is great. The video was made playing with 2 players in Normal mode.

As a result, this game was very well. So, Pocky & Rocky and Pocky & Rocky: Reshrined are the same game and same characters. It's almost there near 100k subscribers.

I remember early in the year, I watched a long play of this game (along with its sequel) while my folks were away to attend my grandfather's funeral (after he was killed in the tornado that hit Western Kentucky), and to move my maternal grandmother (my only surviving grandparent on this planet) into an adult residence over in Illinois (near where my maternal aunt lives), which is where she'll reside for the rest of her life. I have to admit that Rocky (the raccoon/tanuki) is too damn cute! When I heard about Pocky & Rocky Reshrined, it was a must-have for my Nintendo Switch. I ended up getting the game as a late birthday gift from my mother. Pocky also inspired me to have my character in Animal Crossing: New Horizons in an outfit akin to what Pocky is wearing (the Miko/Shinto Maiden outfit). Her hairstyle isn't accurate to what Shinto maidens are styled in Japan, but I did what I could. This game has helped keep me occupied while my folks were out of the state attending to my grandma, and watching gameplay of Pocky & Rocky (and its sequels) have been another form of "comfort food" for my brain. Thank you Natsume for making such an AMAZING game!
