  • I couldn't find any existing reviews for the 2021 CC30e. Recorded in 1 take with no edits, don't judge too harshly :)
    This is Cub Cadet's 2nd year offering the CC30e riding mower. The 2021 model has been refreshed slightly (blue trim, an updated control panel, etc).
    A few other things to note (and things I forgot to mention in the video):
    * 30" cutting width
    * 1 hour or 1 acre runtime (depending on many factors)
    * mower includes mulching kit
    * mower does NOT include armrests
    * lithium ion battery (4 hour recharge), which IMO is superior to lead acid
    * there is NO suspension. If you have a particularly bumpy yard, you're going to be bouncing around a lot and might be better off with a "traditional" riding mower
    * most of the weight is towards the back, making turning on hills a little dicey
    * 250 lbs max rolling tow capacity
    * 5 possible cutting heights (fewer than most mowers)
    * cannot be stored outside (captain obvious)

      I've enjoyed this mower (no issues), but it's not worth $3599. I don't think CC changed anything since 2021. Same battery, no suspension, no armrest, 4 mph max.

    DO NOT BUY THIS MOWER!! I bought one 2 years ago. It was fine for 2 years. I followed all the recommendations on battery maintenance. This year I had a Cub Cadet dealer sharpen the blades, same as last year. Then it died in the middle of the first mowing in 2022. No problem, right? It's under warranty, right? Warranties only work if the company has the parts. The Cub Cadet authorized servicer said it needs a new battery. Fine, put it in. Problem: THERE ARE NO BATTERIES AVAILABLE!! WTF? So now I have an expensive ice of junk sitting at the repair shop waiting for a battery with no hope of one showing up... and they've had it for weeks now. Called Cub Cadet and wow are they ever user unfriendly. The repair place is fine, but Cub Cadet sucks. DO NOT BUY THIS MOWE!!

    Bad design on the location of the cup holder. I filled a red 12 ounce Solo cup with ice tea and put it in the cup holder. I cut grass for about 10 minutes and went to get a drink and the cup was half full. The rest of the ice tea was on the electronic control panel. I wiped the panel off immediately, but the display was fogged up internally. Fortunately, no damage was done and the condensation disappeared. I can't believe CC engineering did not catch this. DON'T use a full open cup in the cup holder. Use a sealed bottle.

    Cleaning grass clippings under the mowing deck.
    I finally figured out how. Since you should never spray water under the mowing deck of an electric because of the battery and components, I ran my CC30E up on the yellow car ramps I have and engaged the brake. Then I could reach the mowing deck to clean it. Also, when I use a leaf blower to clean grass off the mower itself, I put the mower on the driveway and aim the leaf blower at the pavement under the mowing deck so that the air blast deflects off the pavement and hits the mowing deck clearing loose grass clippings. I never cut grass when the grass is wet so the grass clippings don't mat very much. I hope this helps someone.

      °. I would say that that is accurate. I was able to roll up to a 15
      ° one, but it sometimes lost traction, and it doesn't feel safe doing so. This mower is not for trying to mow >12
      ° sideways or any embankment; It will simply be a roll over risk.

    Cub Cadet should evaluate the use of individual 40-80 Volt batteries like the EGO tractor uses. Also, Cub Cadet should manufacture electric garden tools comparable to EGO products. Cub Cadet manufactures very good products, but has to be more competitive with products like EGO and other upcoming manufacturers. I look forward to purchasing an electric tractor from an American Company. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 The tractor in this video has many features that I am looking for, but has to package it in a different format. I want to replace all my lawn and garden tools and I am looking for interchangeable power supplies. EGO is the only product in the market that has figured this out!!!!!!!!!!!!! Where’s the American 🇺🇸 ingenuity???????????????? Please start getting your acts together and start producing tools and tractors that AmeriCANs want!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don’t mind paying a little more for AmeriCAN 🇺🇸 products. Our products are the best in the world when we decide to compete!!!

    • @tjab1715
      @tjab1715 3 года назад +2

      Cub Cadet tractors don’t have interchangeable batteries that you can swipe out when the battery dies!!!!!!!!!! That’s the problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fire the engineers who couldn’t figure this out!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please rectify this “dumb” problem with this product. You are literally forcing people to purchase your competitors products because you missed the forest through the trees 🌲 !!! Not AmeriCAN 🇺🇸 know how!!!!!!! We are first and foremost AmeriCANs!!!!!! Don’t lose sight of that!!!!!!!!! Take the batteries that you use for your electric lawn tools and interchange them with the tractor 🚜. Study the EGO tractor and produce a better and more durable product. That’s when I will make my purchases!!!!!!!! Make it happen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      This mower and its 30" deck was built for homeowners with smaller yards. Even if it had *infinite* runtime, I wouldn't have purchased if I had to mow over 1.5 acres.
      I like the idea of swappable batteries and agree that it'll be a game-changer for their larger (42"+) mowers. But for *this specific mower*, I think it would've increased pricing too much on an already expensive mower.

  • @rob21
    @rob21 3 года назад

    A common complaint with the electric push mowers (like the Ego) is it doesn't have enough lift or "suck" for heavy grass or Fall leaves. How is the power?

    • @mattsreviews1009
      @mattsreviews1009  3 года назад

      Short answer: the cut quality is very similar to my LT42 gas mower.
      Long answer: I don't know the CC30e's blade speed, which is a main factor in determining lift. If the RPM is in fact lower, I can't tell the difference.
      A more "powerful" electric mower won't necessarily have a higher blade speed... I think it's more about the mower's ability to maintain its set speed. Higher RPM = more battery, so it's a balancing act for these engineers to find the sweet spot between runtime and cut quality.

      Ryobi have a lead acid battery 👎. The two MTD have lithium-ion battery👍.

      @@jonrob4675 Stanley Black and Decker bought the Craftsman name/rights sometime ago, several years ago they bought partial ownership of MTD with the right to exercise an option to buy the control of MTD. They exercised that option earlier this year. They say that MTD production will be basically all electric in 5 or so years.
