Hi buddy thanks for sharing the video it was really helpful can you please tell me something I can do with overheating because it pops up at every 15 mins
Hi! I can offer some suggestions that will help, but ultimately the a6000 suffers from overheating with continuous recording, and these tips will more than likely only delay it a bit. 1. Keep the tiltscreen pulled away from the body to help dissipate the heat. 2. Keep the battery door open 3. Keep spare batteries charged up and replace the battery that is in the camera as these are one of the things that heat up. 4. Record in shorter increments 5. Record to an external recorder "this would be a big help" 6. Use a dummy battery that plugs into the wall These are a few tips. Others might have more tips but these are the popular ones.
Mobile phone cameras are great, and you totally can shoot decent video with them. There have even been entire movies shot with an iPhone camera. Here's the thing about phone cameras: they have a very small sensor when compared to an a6000. In low light phone cameras can't compare "although they are getting darn good" to the larger sensor. Another thing to think about is shallow depth of field. With a wide aperture lens on the a6000 you can get very good subject separation/shallow depth of field that phones can only mimic "think portrait mode which uses software to blur the background" so most everything will be in focus shooting video with the phone "not very cinematic" so really it just depends on what you are shooting.

I also updated mine was v2.00 also, I just did update last night, but I thought my camera was great before... havent played with it yet but still happy to be on the latest firmware either way thanks...
You were in the middle of an update, and the red light came on and you turned the camera off? If that's the case that isn't good. It's really important not to turn off any device during an update. Is this what happened to you?
This this method I found online that is supposed to work: I just tried another approach to getting the above issue resolved and it worked, camera is updated and working just fine. Here's what to do: *Launch the firmware updater as per instructions *Insert a fully charged battery in the camera and connect its usb port to the usb of your computer. Then turn on the camera. *The camera will seem like it is dead with the writing light turned on but nothing is happening. *Follow all the steps of thefirmware launcher, and let the update to carry and complete to the end. *Ensure your computer does not go on sleep mode at any time. The firmware will update (about 30-45 minutes). *If computer screen is going to sleep mode make sure it does not so you will have to be in front of your computer all along and let the firmware complete its cycle. *Then the software will let you know that the camera will now turn on, the screen will still be black but you have to let it proceed as directed. *Then when your camera screen is now back, the firmware update has completed.Just follow the instructions, click on "FINISH" and then you will be able to turn off your camera and unplug it. It worked just fine for me, it is just that it takes a long toime to fully insttall the firmware. Good luck. Follow the above steps and all should be fine, you'll have your camera back to take photos.

Hi! I did watch your video in full. It was very helpful. For some reason on my laptop it not only downloaded .exe but also 5 more downloads that ended with .exe-1 all the way to. .exe-5. So I had 6 downloads that showed up. I did follow your directions and only download .exe. But when I went to start up the camera my autofocus wasn’t working at all. I thought maybe I had screwed something up by not also downloading the other files. I did try to go back and download them last night but it told me my firmware was up-to-date. When I went into the settings auto focus must’ve been unchecked during the update. After clicking that and going through the rest of the settings everything does seem fine and working correctly. It does seem to boot up much faster. Thank you for your video. It was very easy to follow. The extra files that showed up just through me for a loop.

My camera just turned the red light on switch off and never turn ON again while updating the firmware. What I can do? Can you help me?
You were in the middle of an update, and the red light came on and you turned the camera off? If that's the case that isn't good. It's really important not to turn off any device during an update. Is this what happened to you?
This this method I found online that is supposed to work:
I just tried another approach to getting the above issue resolved and it worked, camera is updated and working just fine. Here's what to do:
*Launch the firmware updater as per instructions
*Insert a fully charged battery in the camera and connect its usb port to the usb of your computer.
Would this work for the a6100?
The update procedure is probably the same, but there currently isn't an update for the a6100 that I can see.
i tried doing this through the mac version but my camera will not connect to the computer any ideas on what i should do?
I suspect that you are not using the original USB cable? I would try it again using a different cable
i cant find any firmware updates in downloads, theres only imaging edge options. Please help

Not sure, i use a free time lapse app on my a6000....
@@The_Retro_Room how did you get it for free
Is this update for the a6300 as well???
No, the a6000 only, the a6300 has a different firmware, that current version for the a 6300 is: 2.01
Here is the link to the a6300 firmware:
www.sony.com/electronics/support/e-mount-body-ilce-6000-series/ilce-6300/downloads/W0011413
Does this solve the over heat issue?
Not that I'm aware of.....
my A6000 became bricked while attempting the firmware update. any tips?
I'm sorry to hear that! I've never had that happen before. However, see here:

And here:

Any luck?
Is it also for 6300 6500?
No, only the a6000
can I use my tablet to install the firmware update?
I don't think so. You'll have to use a PC or a Mac unless the tablet is a Microsoft tablet running a full version of windows....
@@The_Retro_Room oh, I see.. thanks.
Thanks
You're welcome
Why does my battery drain so fast when im only using it for photography?
Are you using a stock Sony battery? Or, an aftermarket one?
NELSON 5 TECH i have 2 battery and it is same as the stock one. Also i just bought the camera few days ago idk if ill send it back to the manufacturer
@@kmattz1567 the battery found in the a6000 series is small and does not last that long, maybe 300 shots. If yours isn't made by Sony, it will last even less......
NELSON 5 TECH One more thing, should i use third party battery charger?
Any help with my question? Am I ok that I only downloaded .exe and not 1-5? Thanks
Hi! Have you watched the video in full? I'm not sure what 1-5 is? You download the exe file from Sony and execute. Follow my instructions outlined in this video.
The extra files that showed up just through me for a loop.
i cant find the a6100 update
That's because the A6100 does not have an update yet.......
@@The_Retro_Room yup I just found that out! Lol thank you though
@@Lil-Dogpool you're welcome!
For some reason my used sony a6000 won't connect to my win10 device. I don't see "Sony" written on the cord anywhere. Maybe they gave me the wrong cord? Where do I get the right cord?
Just to be clear, you have turned the camera power switch to the on position correct?
@@The_Retro_Room Yea. I even tried it on my brand new lightning fast gaming computer. There was something wrong with the cord. I looked around for another cord and found one attached to my contact charger for my Samsung S9. It worked! It's updating right now. Thanks for your quick response.

Thank you!
Is this applicable for sony a6100?
No
There aren't any firmware updates for the 6100 that I know of at this time!
Alright, thanks!
What about the battery drain issue. Sorry I didn't finish watching
it keeps saying usb cannot connect check device?
Which usb cable are you using? I've heard people have had issues with certain cables. If you can use the one that came with the camera. or just try a different cable if you do not have the one that came with the camera
i cant download it on my pc. how is that??

How to put copyright name to your Sony A6000?
Hi! I'm not sure what you mean exactly.... Can you elaborate?
@@The_Retro_Room How to add copyright or name of photographer into the camera so that it is embedded and shown in the image details for Sony A6000?
Can anyone link me the exe file? It downloads html link, instewd of the exe file.

go to the bottom of the page and click download. its working for me.
Unfortunately, my Mac went to sleep during the firmware update and now my camera won't turn on at all. Any suggestions on how to fix it? I tried a manual reset described here but it did not work: www.sony.com/electronics/support/articles/00018939 Thank you!
That is unfortunate! I've never had that happen before! The instructions listed on the link you sent me are exactly what I would tell somebody to do in your situation. I know you did the manual reset...... But have you tried initiating the firmware update again? If not, I would try that next as Sony suggests this also.... If those things don't work I would be contacting Sony directly. It's unfortunate you are having to go this. Let me know how it goes.
@@The_Retro_Room Thank you for a quick reply! I thought about initiating the firmware update but my camera does not turn on so my Mac doesn't see the connection to the camera.
@@ololand101 here's a long shot: can you get a friend/co-worker/family member to let you try to connect your camera to their windows PC and try to initialize the update from there? Just a thought.
@@The_Retro_Room I will try to initialize the update from my Windows machine. But can Windows see my Sony camera even though the camera is not turned on?
Turn the camera switch on even though the camera appears to be off because no, your computer won't see the camera if the switch is off
I was still on ver 2.0🤣
i got it today and it already have 3.21 lol
Well you're already ahead of the curve then! Enjoy the camera!
