Must be a Death Wish Worlder, if the first thing he decides to do is pull the arrow out. Arm or not, there is a main artery and several smaller ones that branch off of it in your arm. While it isn't the femoral or even your jugular, pulling a foreign object out of anywhere is a good way to reduce your expiry date from years to minutes. Yes, this is an "ackshually." I'll own that. However, it is one that may save your life, so it's always good to know and remember.
While true. Situations matter. You can't fight with a chopstick sticking thru arm,or leg. It’s going to get caught, damaged. There was no medical help. The danger was near, and immediate. So pulling thru, bandage as possible was best of only bad options. I rarely had to imobilize a impaled object as people rip them out if they can.
The shape of the arrow matters too. A barbed broad head is much worse to remove then a sharpened shaft. Toss in the local magic giving him an undefined boost and it makes more sense. You do have a real world point about how removing the object from a wound can lead to accellerated bleeding and further damage.
@@larrythompson8630 I can agree with a few of your point there. In a real world setting, it would be best to break the shaft, as carefully and cleanly as possible and take the middle ground. @ImpPoster Yeah. Like I said, it's an "Ackshually" and I know it. It's the old idiom, but for knowledge; better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.
@@ImpPoster I think a barbed head would be better to push through than try to back out, given they're designed to rip and tear. But these were goblins, so guessing these were of the 'not smart' flavor so didn't know how to do more than make sharpened sticks. I do know if the impaling object doesn't have a channel to keep a wound bleeding, the body usually closes around the thing. Not sure if he'd have been able to fight if he'd broken the ends off to leave it there. Lucky it was a real life world that followed fantasy world rules. 😁
Great story; Excellent narration! I hope this is the beginning of a series where the main character moves between his world and the Mage-Queen's world. Before Joe leaves, he needs to stock up on a few things (like armor and weapons). Hopefully, the Mage-Queen can enchant them for him. I'm also assuming that modern firearms don't work in the "other" world, but if they do, then he needs to get a couple of "boom sticks" . LOL!!!
I'd have cashed in some of the gold, invested in some decent kit and ideally a .600 Overkill , designed by Robert Garnick of Las Vegas, Nevada, once some mentioned the "D" word.
Anyone else want to bet the mage-queen had a little something to do with "encouraging" him to come back? But I think I would have spent some of that gold on some equipment/armor.
Here is a like and comment for the story, for giving me something to think about, to help your channel grow, to appease the great and powerful RUclips algorithm demon, and get you the recognition you deserve.
Nicely written story. And particularly well read. Thank you for the time you take to vet your story selections, and the efforts you put into narrating them.
Wizards are needed in the North Carolina mountain region.... Those with abilities to control water are most needed....9/29/24.
Yeah doings like that hurt more and are harder than you. Came broke.😢

@@MartyrPandaGaming I tried to acknowledge the "Ackshually" in my response, but it looks like I failed to convey that. Mb.

Seriously, who's going to say otherwise? Many thanks!
If he has a big bag of gold , wouldn't it be prudent to buy some dragon heavy ordnance
This is a five year old story, so sadly there'll be no sequel.
That being said, it was amusing little tale.
ahh yes... like any good D&D PC--- Once an adventurer, ALWAYS an adventurer
Until they take an arrow to the knee?
With gold hopefully he left loaded for bear.
Green things from Tennessee
hopefully the guy uses the gold to pick up some decent armor from earth first
AND, really _really_ big boomstick.

Reluctant, yes, but better than boredom

Man, he got bored easily. Didn't take but one day at work and a cold shower to make facing a dragon sound like a good option.
Jailing an ogre is an interesting approach. At what point do they count as rehabilitated?

That was very good story and a very good reading.
